LIONS then DAYLIGHT

This is apparently the date the first test will kick off between Australia and England.
Some sources are saying that Poms have already been ringing up asking about tickets.
We must make sure we don't have a repeat of 2001 when the British Lions Toured. When half the stadium was full of poms.
One thing is for sure, the gabba record for day 1 of a test (30 000 odd) will be smashed.
Any ideas when tickets will go on sale.
Also, can anyone remember what it was like when the poms last toured. What was the ratio of aussies to poms in the stadium.
Thank You Very Much Indeed.
Barmy Army will be out in force...should be a great series...I reckon the Aussies could all get Flintoff masks to wear or something like that...remember the pig on the field with He,,ings' name painted on it...gotta get some good stuff going. I'm not worried about a large English presence- they will have to deal with us on our paddock....
I remember 1998- there was a solid (6-7 000 contingent at the Gabba, which held only 28 or 29 thousand at that point

You got that straight out of todays Courier Mail and twisted it the slightest bit.
At least give credit to the author.

Sorry, i didn't think i was writing a uni assignment
I apologise.
:o
Aussies better start buying tickets as early as they can, because there will be a massive union of English at the Gabba that day, maybe something along the lines of 15,000 Poms, 15,000 Aussies.

Or they could just wander in once the English fans leave after two-three hours (provided they can still stand up :P )

Sorry the English fans rock up rain, hail or shine, win or lose, i think you are thinking of Australian crowds.

The tickets aren't on sale yet i believe
The Gabba holds over 40 000 now.
You'll be lucky to get a ticket. They will be sold out in no time with Aussies buying the majority of the tickets.

The poms will not miss out on tickets, they buy theres in bulk for the amount of supporters they are sending over, if you think they will miss out you are wrong

Yeah if you think you can buy unlimited bulk tickets than you are wrong. You will get a allocated a set amount and that is it. The rest of the tickets go to the better folk - us Aussies.
at most you'll have 8 000 - 10 000 poms compared to 32 000 screaming aussies. Anyway, you'll all be quite after 2-3 hours and running for the shade when the hot Aussie sun beats down your mob's pale as skin.

There was a article in the Courier Mail about this, Queensland cricket will ensure that most of the tickets go to the aussies. Anyway, not all of the Gabba is ticketed. There is the Members area and more. I'd suggest the ratio of aussies to poms will be the same as the last gabba test.
The test has been scheduled a bit later as well, the hotter the sun, the better
:D :D

Rain, hail or shine? The latter hardly occurs in England, so I think you mean rain or hail. :p
Also, three posts in this thread that LIONS then DAYLIGHT did not thank us very much indeed (although there were three where he did). Wow.

Sorry you obviousely have no idea how the Barmy Army works and in the ways they buy there tickets, they have sections in Australia, and if you think thy will struggle to get tickets then you are wrong and far from it. They will get plenty of tickets and the home crowd advantage will be pretty much wiped come day 1 of the gabba test. Sorry to say it LTD but 10,000 Poms makes more noise than 30,000 Aussies :D I'm sure the Aussies will have some creative, fresh chants such as Aussie Aussie Aussie, and im sure the ground will go up in unison, with a huge roar, your kidding yourself if you think Aussie cricket crowds can make a noise.

What, when us Aussies got on top in the First Test you lot were as quite as a mouse. I expect the same at the Gabba. The Barmy Army will get tickets, but the home ground advantage will be well and truely with the Aussies.

It's amazing what a series decided by 2 runs (or a packet of minties) can do to a team's confidence. We'll see how "definite" the series is, I suppose.
You will unless you do something about your aging team .I hope you dont .Mind you when they get injured the excuses will fly again
Age =Injury just remember that and no excuses

So- coming to the home of cricket in Australia, ed- the mighty Gabba? We'll find room for you...by the way, my understanding of ground capacity is about 38 000- but there will be plenty on both sides and good on 'em.
Browney is dead right- Pom fans are there rain or shine....even though yopu'd like to see the cricket, a rain delay is good for sinking some **** and meeting up with the rival barrackers- had a great time chatting with English supporters in 98
At 1/150 with Trescothick and Vaughan kicking ass? The english fans wont be moving
Damn, you are delusional ed- Vaughan's form against any quality is three years old...he'll be slinking back to the Gabba air conditioning, and be happy he is out of the 95 degree heat with 90% humidity....
Might even have to hide Vaughan down the order by the time you get here, if his form slump continues on the subcontinent....but you'll beat up on a non entity at home next summer, so he'll come in over confident.
Good.

Vaughan's the only one with a good record down here...maybe you should pick on someone else, like Trescothick.

Yeah well at 150, Vaughan will be fairly new at the crease, Strauss and Trescothick are often good for century opening stands

Against Australia? That's nice.....Two century partnerships in the last Ashes, when you guys were consistently scoring over 400...more like the tail wagging the dog...and one of those centuries was in the match when McGrath was hurt- one of the bozos would have been in the sheds within 9 overs if Pige was bowling....
And Australia's bowling was very weak...you better expect a stronger attack next year...on pitches that will suit OUR bowling....

Well, Australia is home turf compared to the slower decks in England...
How is the GABBA home turf for Australia?
They don't get anyone to the games.
