Can someone tell me what the purpose was of playing Brayden Lyle in the last final?

Im sure at that time of the year they would have worked out whether he was staying or going.

Were they just trying to give one of our best clubmen a farewell to the fans by playing him in the final or were they trying to up his status in hope of getting a trade for him?

Something smells about this, I just have the feeling that the club didn't play its best side in the finals. Barnaby French was another that was used in this way although he was kept by the club.

Surely it would have been a hell of a lot better to play players that have a future at the club and could use the experience of playing finals football.

All too late now, just don't understand the purpose of it all.

I think they wanted to be seen to be giving him a fair go.

i think youll find he had a very very good last few games for the Magpies and deserved another recall. It was between him and Derek Murray.

or Kane Cornes?

Probably because of his experience and the fact that finals are harder and more physical games which would of suited Lyles style of game more than a Murray or Cornes.

Could be.....I would've played Cornes though, myself. Faster, and he could do with finals experience....as we can see, Lyle doesn't have a need for it any more.

I still think they did the right thing in playing Lyle. History shows we lost that game, but his hardness and experience were needed.
