Keeping your bum in a sling? That's what hammocks are for isn't it?

Hope that the guys can apply a bit of selection pressure thru fantastic pre-seasons. More fit players in the early games, with a touch start to the draw again will be important.

Also interested to see how the game plan develops over pre-season/Wizbang Cup. For what it's worth, my biggest question is McPharlin's position. He plays frontman in a band very well, but I really liked him at CHB in the team, and his kicking style for goal is "iffy". In my dreamworld Murphy is the man in the square. Am also very keen for Campbell to show why he was given a 3yr deal; that is a big vote of confidence from the club that he can be a key forward.

Sorry to disappoint folks - I didn't make it down there... but it seems it was a short session, with the focus in the media being on CC's comments that Freo must make the finals or his position will be under scrutiny.

Well, duh.

Also heard that Lyn Foreman may be joining the club as a running coach. Sir Walter will be a good position now to give informed comments on Freo moves.

Lol , He will probably be there "supervising".

Besides He has his shoulder in a sling , not his bum. :)

About half the playing group were at Ascot on Saturday as Ellicorsam was running (a race horse owned by current and former players). Pavlich didn't have his arm in a sling and seemed to be moving freely, which is a good sign.

IP- Against my better judgement I listened to 6pr tonight and last night. CC didn't say much that was unexpected. He did say that some players (referring to Medders and Pollie) have been selected for games because it is important to get 50 games into your younger players, but in 2006 the side will be selected on merit. Because of this change in policy the likes of McManus and Schofield will get a game, aslong as their performances warrant selection. Barra thanked CC several times for taking time to talk to them, and it is likely that CC will return to doing a weekly slot on 6pr.

Mark Harvey was on tonight. He is having a meeting with Sheedy tomorrow and if he is given the green light he will speak to Freo next week. If the essendon hierarchy are happy to release him from the final year of his contract and he is happy with the facilities, the attitude of the players and the coaching philosophy of CC's he will be at Freo next season.

From the gist of the conversation I got the impression that Harvey will be an assistant at Freo next season. Doing an interview with a WA media outlet would be a waste of time if he is just weighing up his options. If he wants to leave Sheedy won't stop him and we are running out of viable options to fill the vacancies.

Hopefully Polak plays well at CHB, Murphy plays well at full forward and Sandilands continues to develop into a quality ruckman. That way we will be able to move JLo and McPharlin forward or back depending on match ups.

I'd like Elvis at CHB, Polly as a mobile backman, Murphy at FF, JLo playing as a mobile bigman and rucking at times, 211 to take on more of the rucking.

Just must make sure that Haddrill is fit, that is the large piece in our backline jigsaw.

9 Nov 2005, 12:50
Dropped into Freo Oval as I was driving past, after I saw a flash of moving bodies on the ground... thought it was my duty (!!) to do so!

There were about 35 guys doing some drills - no Pav, Hase, Parker; but both Stribling and Duffield were out there. A couple of times they came in together for their next instruction, and both times I saw Toby heading straight for Bellie where they exchanged "Low 5s". Seemed to be a lot of cameraderie and encouragement between the players. Was impressed during the kicking drills to see Big Sandi hit Jimmy Walker on the chest every time from whatever distance they were kicking... :thumbsu:

Apart from 211, Cookie looked intense, Mundy was also dead-eye d1(k with his kicking and J-Lo was getitng lots of "great work Justin" from the coaching staff.

Other very important stuff:

(i) Jeffrey has had his hair chopped as you probably would have seen on Monday's news,
(ii) Dessie has some horrendous looking bleached rat's tail thingy happening,
(iii) Peakey has revisited the mullet,
(iv) Happy Gilmore has a Kevin Pietersen style skunk going (except his is curly),
(v) Freddy Krieger has gone the short back and sides,
(vi) Cookie had his dreadies all tied back,
(vii) Scotty Too Hotty still looks like a pre-schooler has glued white wool to his head, and
(viii) J-Lo still has a sensible hair-cut.

Oh - and Medhurst's legs don't look so big... I couldn't work out who it was for a while with his hat on. Then I heard some one yell, "good one Medders".

He had on long baggy shorts and a big t-shirt, so it was hard to see his legs. They certainly didn't look like the tree trunks we've seen in the last couple of years. Then again - maybe he was wearing all the baggy stuff cos he's flabbed up over the last couple of months...

But what colour were the shorts and did they go well with the shirt?

ImperialPurple
10 Nov 2005, 12:59
Well womby (may I call you that? - it's tres more fash than fat wombat), I was rather disappointed in the distinct lack of purple among the lads. They all wore black shorts - for the most they were mid-thigh and quite loose - perfect attire for a warm summer work-out on the training track. Medders' shorts, however, were definitely almost to the knee - but given his penchant for painted fingernails and the occasional hair-braid, this is not surprising that he chose to express his individuality in this manner.
The players had a choice of white or navy blue t-shirts... medders chose the navy and matched it up with a white trainning cap to complete the ensemble.
