Could anybody enlighten me on what is on going up at Keilor Hill?
The club was flying 2 years ago and only a half of decent football away from A Grade. Since then, it appears coaches have left, boardroom turmoil unfolded, the inability to appoint a new coach, players leaving..... Disgruntled reservers players....
Where did it all go wrong?

Benny MOF this has troubled me also, i was on the record as saying OEG were the next big thing but since then it has all fallen apart. I think they missed their chance in 2003-4, they had a very talented team those years, reguarly beating the promoted teams but for whatever reason they never made it to the Grand Final. I thought their side lacked a BEAKon up forward last year and the injury to Tim Biggs was a big blow.
If they get their act together they will be hard to beat in B section next year but promises of A Grade Glory look some way off.
I wish them well, they still do a run a mean cocktail night and that must count for something.

As you seem to know a fair bit, could you help?

I think the sliterin snake hit the nail on the head... a Dunnel hang over in 2005, but things look back on track for 2006.
Details to be announced in the next couple of weeks.

It would be interesting to hear Diamond 8's take on it all. Considering his close involvement.

Probably best to look at this from a lyrical perspective.
I think it was Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons who uttered the words "So close and yet so far".
Spandau Ballet also sung "Communication let me down and I'm left here"
For those involved at Nth. Rachelle Road I believe your new coach will be announced shortly.

I think it is a positive step... much better than getting an ex-AFL player with his head stuck up his arse, massive ego and doesn't understand the Ammo's culture . It was a case of 3rd time lucky for the boys from Calder Freeway South.

It would seem you boys have made a good move getting away from the ex-AFL players as coach. Haven't you had 3 in the last couple of years without much success?

We've had 2 in 3 years... Dunnell was a typical ex-AFL tosser and Calthopre, while being a good bloke was frustrated by the amateur culture.

I wonder if he will be able to entice any former St Bernard's players across. One name that springs to mind is Justin Evans.

I still remeber the day that Old Essendon's seconds walked off at Brindisi Street, because the centre wicket was a little hard, they refused to play the remainder of the game.
Their seniors got to 50 point lead that day which would have had them in the finals only to choke and lose by 2 points.
Says a lot really.

Firstly all you guys are a bit touchy. OEG is soft as butter. The only bloke there with a bit of heart is Tim Biggs, and unfortunately he is injured. Apart from tim, who could bruise a grape???
Secondly, i didnt say i rate the kent family. But while you mention it, why do OEG keep ringing there old man to come over and be on the board? Knowing my edfl well, i can tell you that greenvale have only got to where they are because of bruce. Quite simply if there was a bruce kent at OEG they would be in A grade.

I don't think OEG ever recovered after a devastating loss against NOBS earlier this year in the twos, when NOBS came home into the wind after being down at three quarter time thanks to the canny skills of one of their young utilities in red time. Not a day goes past when I don't get asked about this defining moment in amateur football.

Also Freddie likes to refer to himself in the 3rd person.

Is it true the Biggs boys are out of OEG and off for dough at Vermont or Pyramid Hill...massive rumour around HQ today. Might also end up at the Bernies.

There was another bloke that was sorely missed last year down at the Grammer. Can't remember his name but he crossed from St Bernards (walk of shame) and played most the year in the backline. Did the kick-ins. I remember watching him against Collegians one week and he played on from full back about 20 times. Word was that he was getting paid based on possessions.
Didn't see him this year, but from what I'd seen previously, he had a tonne of leadership and all the guys down there seemed to look up to him. Apparently could pull the tarts as well which probably added to his aura.

He also wore a flannel with the best of them.
He did come back last year and played a few games in the magoo's, not due to a lack of skill, but rather the size of his roof. That may also have affected his tart pulling abilities...

Just out of interest, has Mr Handley held a players' meeting yet?
If so, how many ex-Bernies players were in attendance?
My mail is that the Bernies' list won't change too dramatically next year, so perhaps Darren will have to focus on developing the playing stocks he's inheriting?

Rumour has it from a good source Darren Handley is taking one gun player from st.bernards to OE
Joel Egan
21y.o
188cms
83kgs
Key position foward
Good pedegree, was on Western Jets list, and was unfortunant to be injured without playing for them.

Doing the rounds at the minute is that Old Essendon's entire leadership group will not be at the club next year, either in the VFL or out through serious injury.

First night back at keilor hill last night under new coach 'Handles'. Very promising signs with over 40 players turning up including both Biggs brothers and Flaherty who have been training with Bendigo Bombers. A 3.2km to start off, with Fewster, De Moreton, Flaherty, Parker and Biggs the first 5 home. Even Calthopre turned up to run a few laps and is very keen to pull on the boots next season. John Newbold was back and is keen as mustard for season 2006. Things are looking good at Centreway East.
No sign of young Joel Egan though

Yeah, it was definitely a beefier Parker than the 70kg wingman that has been running around the last few years. It looks like he's put on 4-5kgs across the arms and chest and is on track for a massive 2006 after a disappointing 2005. Strong rumours have him linked to North Shore in the NSW AFL which is a concern.

Bigger across the chest yes, but also bigger in the roof area, North Shore may want to test his skin folds prior to giving him a contract.

He's probably carrying a kilo or two more round the waist but who isn't after a massive spring carnival in which he was seen everywhere from the Nursery to the Myer Marque to the Motorola Bar.
Some solid pre-christmas training and with a few trips to see the hugs and kisses in Syndey will see him work that off quick smart.
