hey guys
just wanna share the light, that a geelong player is on the verge of quitting the club, in order to find himself another home in victoria.. i cant say much more at the moment, and i apologise..but i can say, relax its not bartel or someone some of you might get really cheesed off over... but i think this bloke can play, but unfortunately limited opportunity means he would have to find another club...
again, sorry i cant disclose more information, but you will find out very soon.. if he decides to stay(and hopefully he does), then i can let you's know...

Go CATS!!
Cam Thurley??
I think we have a winner.
It was mentioned on Cats Claw a few weeks ago that North have shown interest in Liz.
Here is the thread from Cats Claw
Thread about Liz possibly leaving (http://p209.ezboard.com/fgeelongcatsmessageboardfrm7.showMessage?topicID=11422.topic )

So I presume that Thurley is out of contract and can walk.
Anybody know the last delisting dates etc, Id think the Cats would want to know going into the National on the 26th

Can someone post the article, i cant sign up right now and want to read.
Handy player that. But he must be behind Turbo and Byrnes and Prismal in the younger bunch.

Thurls or Koula.
Koulagirl has said repeatedly that PK is under contract for another year, so unless he has come to an amicable agreement with the club to break his contract, I couldn't see him leaving.
As for Thurley, I'm far from convinced that he can make the grade. If he does walk, good luck to him. I wouldn't be shattered if he went.

There's no article.Someone posted on Cats Claw something they'd heard
Post from Cats Claw
Whats Going On!?!?
Have heard from a mate of Cams that he is talking with the shinboners and contemplating walking out on the Cats.
I would hate to see him leave and kick 40 goals next year for someone else!

Koulagirl has said repeatedly that PK is under contract for another year,
I'm surprised somebody actually pays attention to me. And I've only said it about twice.
But on the matter of contracts... wasn't there a tiny little sentence in the Hun (I think... I can't find it but I know I read it) a week or so ago in one of the Bartel articles that Jimmy is the only unsigned player at the club?
so unless he has come to an amicable agreement with the club to break his contract, I couldn't see him leaving.
So it doesn't matter who it is, if he goes, there will have to be negotiations over termination of the contract.

Baseless rumour. Clubs don't let situations like this happen well into November.

Wouldn't be shattered if thurley did leave. He will only pay as a result of injuries.

Just in time for the second list lodgment, which is Friday. And it allows whoever to nominate for the national draft as well.
How convenient.
wednesdays the day.
Okay,spill the beans.
Don't dare say you're not going to tell us if the player [Liz] has decided to stay.
wednesdays the day.
Wednesday has been and gone

I stand corrected. Looks like Thurley wanted 2 years and Cats said you won't get 2 here so he has walked.

Looks like he'll miss out next year... Not a very important player to the team, obviously thought this and decided he needed to go elsewhere. Leaves a hole in the VFL midfield now...

When you think about it, our best forward line would look something like:
HF: S Johnson Playfair G Ablett
F: Kingsley Ottens Chapman
With Mackie, N Ablett, Gardiner and rotating midfielders all likely to get a run in there before Thurley. So the end result probably doesn't hurt Geelong but makes sense for both parties.

Probably was more insurance for our small forward division rather than our onball brigade, but needed alot of injuries to get a gig in our side. Would want to look a little closer at Dale Thomas / Ben McKinley types now.

Just Now? I totally agree that these guys should be on our "get if there" list, but im not sure that the loss of Thurley means we should look at these guys more than we would have.
Thomas looks far more clever around the lose ball and thru the middle than Thurley. He has more the sneak attributes and ball smarts of a Dacios than just being just a convert type player. He has pace as well , and would have been far more likely to be a quality addition to our main18.
BMK, has been compared to Russell Robertson , so yes he may be in a little comparable to where Thurley played but I feel he would be far more likely to win his own ball, just as Dog Johnson does.He has leap and strength for marking.
The question that needs answers is , does this allow us to look at Preseason players. If its a dollar thing, that contriubuted to Thurley being gone, will we go for the pick 60 something rather than spend bigger money on a delistee.

I don't think Thurley would have been offered too much anyhow. I don't think there will be too many to choose from in the preseason but if blokes want to play for minimum wages then I guess that makes it more appealing.
