Given the cats look to have been given a favourable draw in the pre season NAB Cup, do you think they will go all out and try and win a trophy or will they just be preparing for the main season. Playing Carlton first up and then the winner of Sydney/Kangaroos there is a huge chance to roll into the semi finals without having to play great footy.

Apart from King Ottens and Wocjinski is there anybody else on a restricted program that won't be ready for the pre season matches???

After trying to come up with my best 22 for another thread I realised the depth is pretty deap and the cats, so given the injuries we could still field a very strong side. Plus St Kilda West Coast and Adelaide are all on the other side of the draw.

Could be my first silverware !!!!

I wouldnt call it favourable at all.

Carlton at TD...we were promised our first game at Skilled
Syd/Kang in Cairns...a road trip just as long as Perth, and the heat just as, if not more, intense!

Then after that we would probably play in Vic, but arent guaranteed due to Comm Games, so could play Interstate again.

Our draw is anything but favourable!

Would still like to see us go all out. Winning form is good form!

Sydney historically don't try in these competitions. If we couldn't beat Carlton anywhere, anytime i would be shattered. Last time I looked Cairns was just as far from Geelong as it is from Arden St.

Going on last years effort in Canberra the cats were obviously not wound up for a big crack at the title.

We'll get over Carlton, but will go down (again) to North. Ruck stocks will be the key, with King/Ottens unlikely to play or be at peak fitness.

Damn straight we will.

Any kind of silverware is good silverware.

There was a huge buzz when the Geelong VFL side won the flag a few years back so the NAB Cup would be something that they'll go out to win. Won't have the best side in the first few games but expect us to be pretty close to full strength.

What would you rather do, play praccy matches on substandard grounds or play on AFL grounds in front of big crowds (earning more money in the process and having the ability to sign more members in the process).

We usually take it seriously, well we don't rest a bunch of players anyway, so we'd have to be in with a shot.

I'd like them to give Egan time at FB away from Scarlett, try Spencer at CHB and maybe a few minutes at CHF, and game time to Callan, Prismall, Blake, Lonergan etc.

There's quite a few players we need to see because unless we have a crappy run with injuries again they won't be getting much senior game time throughout the year and there is going to be a couple of tough decisions to make come seasons end.

I think substandard grounds would be better than playing in 680 degree celcius heat in Cairns.

Yeah but if you lose that game then you could very well end up playing over in Kalgoorie the next week in front of 50 people.

Win that and we might get a game at home (or at least in Melbourne) and we would have made more money due to advancing further.

Maybe Jack - if they don't decide to have a crack at it - they could try some other blokes at CHF in Henry's place. Lonergan, McCarthy, Thurley, Byrnes?

Don't give him any ammo!

Don't care about the results. Just hope we get through relatively injury free & have players looking like they're ready to hit some good form come the start of the season

I agree, I'd like to see Egan and Spencer get a go in the backline on their own, because they are the future. Callan and Prismall should also get game time as well as a few who are just outside the 22 such as Koula and Thurley etc. You have the extended bench is the NAB cup, so use it.

They wouldn't dare do that. Try something different. No chance. They have got something in common with myself on this issue. They are very persistent.
