MAXIE, an answer to your earlier query about the friction between certain parties. Not about the Gis-GS result, altho' I'll predict the Gissie boys will win at the Graveyard pretty comfortably -- especially if Sippy is back in.
Back about mid-Jan/early Feb. an approach was made to the BFL that Gisborne home matches be allowed 2 be b'cast by a little Kyneton community radio station.
This outfit has the output and power of 2 mosquitoes. You'd be lucky to pick up its signal on the outskirts of Kyneton, so dozens and dozens of klicks down the Calder into Gisborne was clearly out of the question.
The BFL refused the request as the Fresh radio station is the league's official broadcaster (and has been for some time). Inter-league, finals, Michelsen medal night etc.... are all covered by the broadcaster. Now because the Gissie ground is in a dip and the radio transmitter is beaming from Mt Alexander occasionally reception into Gisborne can be a tad difficult but you can still pick it up.
Anyway after the BFL decision, relations between a cuppla people became a little strained, shall we say.I think what we need down at Gisborne is a new AERIAL to pick up the reception

Well u cannot blame Gisborne for trying.......... they only have the interests of the clubs sponsors and fans at heart. Last year lots of ads on CCC and this year none! No point paying out money for something you cannot hear. As a Gis supporter, nothing frustrates us worse that not being able to hear the footy being broadcast. As for PT without him and his efforts Gis would not be in the BFL and you would not get a more loyal or tireless worker around the club. Its time Paul and Wallace put there differences behind them , shake hands and work together for the better of the BFL and football in general. Both men have strong principles and Bendigo needs both of them working together........if nothing they could have interesting debates on air. I know PT will be there as he is at every Gis game, lets hope WT makes the trip down and they can sort this mess out

As for the weekends result..................... a bulldog win is enevitable. It will be the game of the year and with the inclutions in Gis team and the revenge factor.........it will be Gisborne by approx 20 points. Rain forcast and that suits the Gis boys as its always cold and damp at the Graveyard. Some of the GS players may have never played in the rain or seen it as the drought has been going for years in Bendigo.............Dont miss this game, make the trip, local footy wont get any tougher and better than this. If your comming down from Bendigo rug up its going to be cold

Is he getting a kick or is he s t u f f e d.?

Doesn't appear to be travelling that well in a team that is travelling even worse. Give him credit for his fitness, obviously looks after himself well, but not doing much damage on the field.

So is the guy from Gisbourne tied up with the radio station or was he keen to do it as part of a sponsorship deal or something?
Wouldn't have thought that it would have mattered if the station from Kyneton covered the odd game just along as the Fresh weren't already covering it. It's all promotion

the kyneton station was his method of getting a leg up to wot he wanted to do and no otm you dont have a station being backdoored by another fly by niter when it is the installed and accredited bfl b'caster and has paid good $$$$ for the privilige

I wouldn't have thought calling experience would have be a neccesity to call on the Fresh.

Well your obviously tied up with CCC...........your facts are all wrong. You dont shoot the messenger..Ask anyone from Gis and they will tell you Paul was acting on behave of the commitee. He along with another was responsible for sponsorship and the radio packages they sold last year on CCC..As reported to all last years radio advertisers who were willing to go again.CCC would not send down to the Gis commitee any advetising deals for the club to sell...thus the club had to look else were. If its true that CCC actually pays for the broadcasting rights, why then did the BFL give them money to improve reception when Gis joined the comp, also when Jock was pres of the BFL you will find another donation and if rumour is fact Gis also paid again for some works yet to be carried out on reception from CCC......should be an interesting weekend at the graveyard,,,,,,,,my money is on PT..........lets hope he doesnt read this forum and lets hope no-one tells him that CCC personal are spreading lies and stabbing him in the back again........

Heard Nick Knight from South Bendigo may be getting upset with the club. Supposedly his contract clearly states he gets the latest haircair products weekly, but has gone 2 weeks without a new tub of VO5.

Sources close to the club last heard him saying "Sometimes, I just like to let the hair do the talking!"

Clayton goes well, been injured a bit this year tho, still EASILY in their best 18.
Dylan I think is a worry, not overly commitment, always injured.
He would struggle to get a game in their best 21.
NOT AS GOOD AS HE THINKS HE IS!!
I haven't heard of them leaving but if they did, would anyone follow them given the side square have this year??

G-man, I don't think the radio guys give a red rat's rump what your boy thinks.
They were the ones who were the almost-victims of the off-season shafting, not the other way around. I would say the relationship between the radio station and Gisborne is spot on ... I have heard plenty of their people interviewed lately --- coach Billy, Shane Davis, R-R Saunders, Michael Dillon, Duffie-Tytler (before his injury) to name a few.

Ease up FP, DILLON is probably the most talented and naturally gifted footballer in the BFL. For different reasons he has however battled to string consistent good games together.
If he ever completed a proper full pre season, It would be a sight to see him produce his best "Matty Lappin" like football week in week out.

Hit a nerve have I Jock...........This weekends bout between PT and WT will be fizzer as WT will be a scratching. Seems strange Jock that the station you work for has a vendetta against PT.....Im sure his company sponsored CCC football last year and were scoreboard sponsors during the finals.....Surely you Jock of all people who publicly ridiculed his business last year on air (P&D PIDDLING)....remember........lucky he hasnt heard about this as its tapped and Im sure if he heard about it you would be pennyless. Time for all parties to stop this..shake and make up. sandhurst to good for kyeton on there own dung hill. the dragons to win by 8 goals

castlemaine just to get over the line againest maryborough. maggies by 10 points

and in what i think will be a big upset of the year, flat to beat eaglehawk by 20 points. {must kick more accurately than they did last week VS south if they are to win}

Square by 11 points Kings Army. BOG- Lloyd from Square.

Hopefully it's on radio as I will be unable to go down due to work.Could be the blockbuster of the Home & Away season.Should be a huge crowd if both teams supporters are fairdinkum.

If there were to be a blowout you'd have to say Gisborne would be the team to have a day out.I don't think this will be the case though .
If Square take their A game down to Gissy then the BFL is in for a treat.

On another topic !! Frew from South..15 goals.. That is a fantstic effort even though it was only against Flat. Still has to get them through the big sticks and work hard.. hats off to the bloke for such a good return . He may be a bonus for them too coming back from injury now that Beau Shiels doesn't seem to be playing anymore.

Final 5 in order- Gisborne,Square,South,Sandhurst,Eaglehawk.
Sandhurst are the real smokeys of the league. They will thump Eaglehawk again next time they play each other and give South & Square a real run too... I think the second half of the year is just starting to heat up....

Over & Out until Sat Night my fellow Bigfooty mungers!

I see you have tipped M.Lloyd to take BOG honours, how has his form been this year, I have read he was struggling a bit early this year. Saw him in one game and he took the 3 votes vs. kyneton and from all reports he had a good interleague carnival, how has he been travelling of late ??

Where do we think Maryborough is at at the moment?? Their from seems to be dropping off as the year progresses. They have a quality batch of youngsters coming through but they're best players still look to be their old war horses. Not sure what will happen when these players retire. Has anyone seen them play this year and do they have any young standouts coming through? Are they a competitive unit??

Pleasing to see North City put in a credible showing against a top side on the weekend. Again haven't seen them play this year but they look to be steadily improving! Maybe a win against the Flat is not out of the question later in the year!

Gissy V Square - Great Grand Final Preview. Not the hiding predicted at the Graveyard. Gissy did lose Sithorpe before the game, Saunders at the start of the first quarter, Fitzy at the start of the 2nd and Dillon was on one leg all day. Still credit to Square for finally bringing some competition to the Graveyard.

Bearboy has been requesting plastic surgery for Saunders for weeks - unfortunately he finally got his wish with a sickening head clash that split him wide open.

Nice post KA, Gisborne did lose all their guns early, however I'm not sure Michael Dillon was on one leg.

Interesting to note, you didn't mention the league's leading goalkicker in M O'Toole who didn't appear after half time. Square Ruckman W Pye and B Fraser (who kicked 5 in last years visit to the "graveyard") also didn't front for the Square.

Had Rosa & Anderson kicked their goals in the last quarter I'm sure the result may have been different.

You seem confident in your beliefs that the two will meet on GF Day. Interested in your thoughts on who the bigger ground will suit?

Alot big names missing from both teams. Footy was the big winner (score line) and the big loser (quality players out).

Sqaure matches up very well against Gissy as does South with Square.

South Bendigo is the only other challenger and Gisborne has had the wood over them for years. South beat Square last time didn't they? So with Gissy finsihing top I think they would much prefer South in the granny.

Big ground question again for Gissy:confused: - all I can point to is the 3 premiership cups from the last 4 years - which were all played on a a big ground. I would go so far as to say Gissy love the wide open spaces and wish the graveyard was the same size as at QEO. :)

I thought the crowd was a little dissapointing, How many did McGuane bring through the gates when he was coach because it used to be alot more vocal and intimidating for opposition clubs?
Has the crowd dropped since he left?

Very impressive game. How South beat Square I will never know. Square play a very similar game to Gissy and are similar size - where South are full of big goofs that can't pick the ball up once it hits the ground.

Griffen and Hawkins are guns and Rosa was always a threat. Dillion kicked 5 but was restricted - still a class above. The coach who gets very little praise is a super side played his normal flawless game. He just makes the right decsions and does not make mistakes.

Crowds have slowly dropped since Sunbury, Melton, Melton South and Darley left from the RDFL. Gisborne dominated after this with a player kicking 35 goals in a game. Now at bendigo they have not had the time to develop big enough rivilary's with any other team - thus keeping some supporters away. Maybe in time this will change.

What about crowds in the big games in Bendigo? Or have crowds also fallen away?

Crowds in Bendigo are a disgrace and a blight on the league in my opinion.
Most games suffer from a lack of atmosphere IMO especially at the QEO which is a real shame.

I thing everyone needs to get over square and gissy south are the real contenders. They played city on the weekend with out pretty much there best 10 players and were still able to get the job done quite well. Although I did not see the game from all reports sounds like the 2s boys that came up Simon Austin, Ben Galea, Mitch Hall, Alex Galea all played a part in the win showing the sort of depth that south have. It will be a real cracker this weekend at the QEO the real gf preview

Thats bait - firstly South got a footy lesson against Gissy at the graveyard. 70 points and gissy kicked badly. If you are more competitive this week you may be a chance to play in the granny.

Square would have to be in front of South at this point.

I am the first to admit south had a dirty day down at the gissy, but that is just one game, and what grounds are you placing square in front of south? by your theory when looking back at past games south gave square a touch up last time they met so in my books that puts south in the drivers seat.....

Get within 7 points of Gissy this week and you have a case - cop another hiding and start to look to 2007.

Hardinge a big chance not to play this week against Gisborne with a sore hammy. He's very important to South and was out last time they met also. Rated 25% is the rumor.
South have got good depth I agree though and it is a very important game for them to get some belief that they can match it with the league leader...
They cetainly have the list to. Time will tell.

Now Josh - what's the go this weekend? The mighty Gissy Bulldogs - will you produce a new dance if you kick a goal? Or are you just focused on handing out some good old fashion bashings - you know the one where there is just a flurry of punches to the head!

goat goat goat, recruit of the year is a tad over the top mate here are a few blokes from south that would be in front of him and some other players in the league that have the pecking order over him. connaughton, coburn, frew, pye, robins, gretrix, fitzgerald, young. plenty more i could add to that. smarten up goat.:thumbsd:

South won't get within 8 goals, too many pretty boys. Gisborne - no fuss attitude, just get the job done! Coburn is one though that will make a difference this time around, but a few too many injury worries at south for mine.
Another big game this week between square and sandhurst, should be a cracker if their last encounter is anything to go by. The dragons have probably improved since early in the year, anyone give thema chance?

gisborne are probably the worst team in the BFL, they have fluked the last few grandies. wont get over south, and frew will prob kick a dozen, poor day for him if he kicks anything less than 10.

good news for south is they are bring up roger the dodger to replace john hardinge, the bulldog to cover the lost run of brad rhode, and moe syslack to add a bit of height and leap that burke provides.

also if south are in front late in the game, dont be suprised to see the wood duck ring the bell early, he is a cheating basta rd but you gotta admit, he has sensual skin and legs that never seem to end.

:)Sorry i missed you down at the graveyard KA on saturday, your analysis of the crowd and game however is fairly accurate for someone with such strong ties to the EDFL. Now either the grandstands in the EDFL have gotten bigger or are we sourcing information elsewhere????????? p.s gis/gs best game of country football ive seen in ten years.....

spot on with post all the way.Nick Knight would be the best after goal celebrator in the league by a mile. Seems to be some of his legendary podium work at the universal coming through in his game.

Very interesting to see on the transfers list that the Kangaroos captain is heading north to play with Kerang in the CMFL. Surely they wouldn't clear him, although im sure they will appeal straight away. Will they win. One would think a fair amount of $ would exchange hands in a deal if this was the case. There was a fair bit of pressure from Kerang at the start of the year. Interesting one boys!

My team hasn't won too many games this year and if my captain walked out on us he'd lose me forever. Very ordinary!

if he is the captain dont worry about the player, what would ppl think of a club that lets their captain go halfway through a year regardless of if your losing games. It sets a precident that he doesn't think the club who has appointed him captain is any good and it is a disrespect to the players he is supposed to be leading.

Is that a misrepresentation? I'm pretty sure its not, they are just stating the bleeding obvious and why shouldn't they give themselves a pat on the back, takes a lot of hard work to run a footy club let alone keep that at the top for 4 years!
