think he should go okay too ..... naturally he'll need a few signings to help the young boys like mcnish, brooks and co. in the green n white
If this is correct then a big congrats to Darryl and the Flat on the appointment, a step in the right direction IMO. A very professional and respected football man in the region who will leave no stone unturned in his pursuit of success

Hey Goat Man, Hear Darryl Wilson spoke pretty well out at Dower Park. Lookslike the club may have got it right this year. Felt like they are keeping a lid on it for the upcoming season and working to a structure.
Here you might be the assistant coach they are after?

already using his contacts by talking to some B Bombers players not sure whether ones players fair chance will be some twos players which wont be bad for considering alot of the twos players had falling outs with there home clubs because they wouldnt let them come back and play even twos for there home club. still going to be good young players chris mathison might go back and he might attact some good young Bombers players.

They could win 3-5 games with a pretty similiar list to last season but with 7 to 10 quality that could be injected they would be in the mix for a finals spot i reckon.

What amazes me is that people love making judgements and giving opinions on things that they have very little knowledge of. Essendon have seen Knights coach first hand and seen his presentation matched up against the other applicants.
What crap are you talking about Marcus Barham of course he has no attachment to Essendon ones or two's he coaches Gisbourne?
Maybe your just trying to generate some chat in a forum that has dried up this week. Where's Bears boys and kings army there never far away when the Dogs are winning.

Jorgo has coached a BFL premiership side at KFlat and also in Sunraysia. Great football brain, wonderful communicator and would be a worthwhile acquisition for any club looking for a coach. Fitzy also been around for quite a while but I still thought he was on the VCFL board?? Interesting news to hear Shane McCarty has resigned from north city was on 3BO this morning. Anyone know anymore about this last time I spoke to him he seemed fairly content and looking forward to next season.

I'd highly recommend Simon for the Castlemaine job, he took Lancefield to 3 straight grand finals from 2002-04, winning the third. Has coached numrous premierships and has a lot of contacts. Worked at Eaglehawk this year I believe. Is the best country football coach I have seen in this district.

Can someone please give me an update on the radio situation in regards to football in Bendigo.
I am a former Bendigo footballer who now lives in Adelaide and I've heard that 3ccc are about to be closed down and that there will be no more footy on the radio.
Richard Jones used to do a wonderful job covering the footy on the radio in Bendigo.
What has happened to him??
Is the coverage so bad now that no-one listens??
From what my family in Bendigo tells me, the other radio stations and the television station in Bendigo do very little for the BFL.
That's not good.
Also late congratulations to Eaglehawk. I can't believe Derrick Filo is still running around. A further opponent of mine. There's no way I could still play.

Was there more into the reasoning behind North Cities coach Shane McCarty's resigning than just personal reasons. Was he thrown in the deep end when appointed coach of the new fc
As a former player and coach what is McCarty's background in playing & coaching, where did his career begin - where did it take him and was he always going to be a coach.
Is/was he respected by his peers playing & coaching !? serious thoughts/opinions would be appreciated.

The North City boys were pretty shocked by his decisions as it has come out of the blue. Spoke to a player last night and he had no idea what the reasons were but the boys were told in a meeting this week about it. The boys respected him as coach.

McCarty played with North Ballarat pre VFL then coached Buninyong in CHFL(3 years) to the finals. Coached East Point in Ballarat in their first two years with no success(2 wins in 2 years),had a role at Redan for a couple of years before taking on North City. Don't know what his reasons are but must be a problem as City were just starting to look ok.:thumbsu:

I think the side with Houlihan and Reaper playing forward was the strongest - 2003. Last years was stronger than this with the loss of Sippy and Dillon. Gisborne do a great job seeing that have a small half forward flanker as there leading goal kicker. One power forward short this year.
Ollie won Gissy B&F followed by Fitzy.

The Leak, I believe that this is a big mistake that the Maryborough FC has made by appointing Shane Fisher as coach, especially after reading the bendigo advertiser where they said they were looking for a playing coach, Fisher cannot play at Major League level, simple as that.
I overheard some things from current players at a certain bar that is frequented by the East Point boys saying they were looking forward to a new coach that they could talk too, someone who is not worried and paranoid, hearing this was very intersting and gave an insight to what the players actually thought of their coach, They obvioulsy did not respect him and play for him.

Fisher to coach Maryborough
http://ballarat.yourguide.com.au/images/general/space.gif
EX-EAST Point coach Shane Fisher will coach Maryborough in the Bendigo Football League next year.
The 28-year old, who left the Red Lion Kangaroos after he was asked to re-apply for his job at the end of the season, yesterday confirmed he has been appointed senior coach of the Magpies for the next two seasons. East Point plans to announce its senior coach today.
Fisher, who had considered moving interstate to continue his football coaching career, said the Maryborough job had plenty of positives, including the opportunity to stay in the Ballarat area.
He will take on the position as a playing coach, despite being unable to play more than a couple of games with East Point due to injury. "I wasn't going to coach for the sake of coaching and Maryborough appealed the most," he said yesterday.
"Club-wise the facilities are second to none. They have a gym at their ground and there is a hell of a lot more you can do training when you have good lights. And being in a major league appeals a lot too.
"But this is not going to be about Shane Fisher, it's going to be about the Maryborough Football Club. This is a team with a lot of young players and, while it can be good to walk straight into a club that's had a lot of success, it's maybe better to play a part in building a team that is heading on the way up.
"There's no hiding I've had some hamstring problems this year, but I've been getting treated for that in Melbourne and I'm still getting some work done on that in Ballarat as well. I don't know if I'll be an 18-round player but if I play 12 or more games that would be good."
Maryborough finished the 2007 Bendigo Football League season in seventh place with five wins.
Fisher described the Magpies' position as not dissimilar to East Point when he took over the coaching role in 2005. But the former North Ballarat Roosters player said he was a vastly more experienced coach than when he joined the Kangaroos. "When you're coaching you're learning something new every week," he said. "I think I've developed a lot more as a coach since I started at East Point. I think the whole package, from training and management to match day, has improved."
Fisher left the North Ballarat Roosters after three seasons and 55 games to coach Lexton in the Lexton Plains Football League in 2002. He took over the top job at East Point in 2005, coaching the Kangaroos to three successive finals campaigns.
WTF are Maryborough doing appointing a muppet like fisher, like his quote is a perfect example "But this is not going to be about Shane Fisher, it's going to be about the Maryborough Football Club" his total career has only ever been about Fisher and Maryborough will find this out very soon in his appointment.
As far as a playing coach he will be lucky to play 2 games as he is no good, whatever treatment he has been getting its actually been on his tatoos, he is getting them removed, or in his case colored in.
:D:D:D:D:D hahahahahah the joke is now in charge of maryborough.

Look foward to your comments this time next year. You may be excited now but will be cringing when his name is mentioned in 12 months. Trust me you want his hammy to keep pinging because there is nothing worse than a playing coach that won't put his head over the ball.
The line above about Mary being very similar to East when he 1st took over - unless he can get the Jordan boys across to Mary - 5 wins will be your best result.

Always was going to be Barhams if he wanted it. A lot of clubs would love a saunders but he loves Gisborne and would need the deal of a lifetime to make him think of a move.
Yeah fair point. Any news on Shane Davis and his movements? Have heard he is speaking to about 15 clubs

K/A i agree with you totally that Fisher cannot play at this level, His hammy is an excuse to use when the going gets tough and is an easy way out for him.
K/A whilst on the subject of the Jordans is it true that Ben was offered the job but now Johnson is available and unless he gets picked up by anothe AFL club he will be back as senior coach on $50k and working part time at the sports club.

Sorry leak but East Point were already a finalist when Fisher took over, in fact they missed the finals in his first year as coach. Fisher drawing a long bow to make that comparison!Surprised if he played more than six games as I don't think he is mentally strong when it come to injuries. Anyway good luck to Fisher and all the best to Maryborough in 2008.:thumbsu:

Quote from media story, "Fisher described the Magpies' position as not dissimilar to East Point when he took over the coaching role in 2005.
Creeker35 i back you up on that statement and refer people to check their facts, east point actually made the finals the year before fisher took over as coach and in his first year there they just missed out by 4.29% and finished seventh with 10 wins and were very competative, in the interview he said that that he sees comparisons between the two clubs, east point were finalists and maryborough won 5 games. Fairly different i see.
This is exactly what i'm talking about the facts and the facts are that after 3 years at east point they have seen the light and got rid of him as he has many flaws in his coaching abilities.

Excuse my ignorance, but is this the same Shane Fisher formally of Lexton?

Correct. He was a gun player in his early days but it has gone south at a rapid rate since starting at Lexton and then East as coach. I think he's had chronic knee and hamstring problems.

The rooers are on the right track and moving in the right direction, did i say we would win the flag? I'm allowed to get excited about the team i follow aren't I, or should every supporter just take it "easy" until after the grand final?

WOMBAT: who eats roots, and (then) leaves : Is this the same D. Brown who switched from Dower Park to C'bury Park in the summer of 06-07?
And then went on to top the BFL goalkicking to claim the Ron Best Medal, altho' only snagging 2 sausage rolls in the grand final --- and those in the 1st quarter.
Admittedly, the blustery wind didn't suit big Brownie.
Where is he off to ??
Incidentally I've heard the Hust could be down by 16 in player numbers heading into 08. Heaps have employment/study options requiring moves OUT OF Benders.

Yes the one and only.
Work could be taking the great man Interstate and I found it quite ironic the mob advertising on here a few pages ago could be exactly where D Brown will be exploding things.

FUNNY thing about the Internet and modern technology, GoatLaddie.
Replied to one of your posts this time last year sitting in an Internet cafe in the Middle East. Not that far from the Iraq border, actually.
Don't need to be at your very own home, or ideed your very own office, to shot the pinkies on a keyboard and be a part of BigFooty.

geary- doubt it would go back to sandhurst or e/hawk
pilcher - could
bowe - thought he'd go to e/hawk but rumours of following maddern to qld
weeks - could linked to canberra

bowe hasnt had a problem with e/hawk pretty sure he will be in qld for uni anyways
bowles wont go b'cos his best mate is connaughton and his brother plays for south! thought his gf plays for south?. captaincy i dont think would lure bowles to the club.
ahh it was just said that at least 3 bendigo bombers ones players were going to be signing with the flat
be intereasting when the bombers coach is announced finally. the bendigo bombers could pay off for the bendigo league much to the disgust of some people who didnt believe it. wouldnt mind knowing what players have played vfl and are now going into bfl. also the players that have benefited from it!

You said they would play finals at the start of this year. Right track - they did not win a game this year. Have they had you sedated and hidden in a padded cell for the last 6 months?
Nick Carter is a definate starter at Golden Square but unfortunately Simon Rosa got an offer to good to refuse at Peel Thunder otherwise would've joined Carts at Square.
I'm suprised Barham got the Gissy job again, i spoke to a few Gissy players recently and they were'nt a big fan of Barham and were looking forward to playing under Saunders.
Will Saunders stay, he's getting big offers from everywhere as no doubt he doe's every year.
Flat have been very pro-active and could gain some very handy inclusions if they play their cards right.
Any news on who's coaching Sandhurst yet, alot word getting around there's a few that will finish their uni courses at the end of the year and next year work could take them anywhere, Fitzgerald back to Perth, Metro to Marcorna, i have a feeling Sexton my coach them again.
E/Hawke won't settle at one flag especially now they not how it feels to win one, they'll lose a few but don't worry they'll get a few also and have another crack at it.
North City are they unkown at the moment, a new coach could get them further up the ladder especialy if he his a playing one with some recruits or they could go backwards and spoil there second half of the year improvement.
Kyneton can only improve but can Cookie lure some big recruits and sneak them into the 5.
M/Burra will be lucky to win 3-4 games.
Gisbourne will make the granny again.
Sth will be dissappointed if they dont finish top 3.
Golden Square , same as Sth.
C/Maine would have to make the 5 to improve from this season but there could be a few fighting for that fith spot .
I'm a fan of Ian Martin and reckon he did a good job this year so the new coach as to firstly replace Martin as a player and then some to take the next step.
they could finish 5th or 8th.

Sam Steel I heard is one of the key signings to the Flat. He is close to other Bombers who will follow him. Had the year off and will make a big impact on BFL at Flat.

That has to be bait. 1st 1st 2nd in the 3 years under him. His record is incredible and correct me if I am wrong but didn't he make the team of the year at CHB again. Saunders has no intention of coaching and will be at Gissy next year.
