A Melbourne paper yesterday had a full-page article on the former Western Bulldogs' troubled half-back player. It said that several clubs had expressed interest in the 24 (?) year old, including Port Adelaide. What do u think about this?
I think he normally has quite good disposal off half-back and, although not the same type of player as Flash, he could fill a half-back role or wing in our side.
If he's available at our third national draft pick, or pre-season, I think he has enough footy left to be given a go. A return to Adelaide would probably be most welcomed by him.
What are your thoughts?

He is a pretty good player....underused by the bulldogs.
He has very good disposal...i reckon he would fit in down back in our side. He plays like Scott Basset i reckon.
We should go for him if he is avaiable
I'd rather redraft Poulton, thanks.

Coxy came 9th in our B&F from 16 games so he can play but desperately wants to go home and does not fit into our structure all that well.;)
Much more likely to be a Crows pickup then, especially considering he's ex-Glenelg

Poulton and Cox are different types of players, Cox stands at 192cm while Poulton is 182cm tall.
I think Cox would be a good pick up as he would take one of those tall backline positions that are so desperately going to be needed once Paxman and Mead retire at the end of next year.
Im not saying he will fill a key position role but probably a third tall option.
Yes, I realize they are.......but the odds of Port drafting both of them are slim to none.

Porthos, when has Poults given us drive with his run or long, penetrating disposal?
When has Poults (other than at the SCG) given us a match-winning lift in a game? It seems that the season he played less games, we seemed to do quite well, don't u think? (I know there were other things factored in).
Tredders#16
I can recall plenty of games where Port's defence have looked like dropping their bundle....and we all know what that looks like....and Poulton has gone in and done the hard work, and showed he's commited to getting the ball. He tackles, he dives in, he holds up the play, he goes in hard.
You know, those one-percenters that always get mentioned.
He might not look stellar when we're winning, but when the game is almost out of grasp, he's one of the few that can get us back into the game.
Yes, his disposal is poor....but he's got heart and desperation and that is invaluable. If it wasn't for Wanganeen's full season, he'd have been in the 22....and I still see a place for him in it.

Even with the addition of Hardwick? And the return of Wilson?
Where do u fit him into our 22?
Tredders#16
On the bench, to be thrown in when we need a lift.
Hardwick in, yes, but Wilson may or may not be ready to go at the start of the year.

so how do u fit Wanganeen, Lade, Primus, Hardwick, Wakelin, Mead, Tredrea, Cockatoo-Collins, N.Stevens, Schofield, R.James, C.Cornes, Burgoyne, Kingsley, Dew, Guerra (?), Bassett (?), Wilson (?), Montgomery, Lockwood (?), Francou, J.Carr, French (?), K.Cornes (?), Poulton (?) into 22? There's 18 starters here in my books, add in Wilson if fit and Bassett has to be a fair show for a game. I'd play K.Cornes over Poulton. He has the same attributes as Poults, but is a little quicker and has better skills.
Tredders#16
Then you go on form and injury. If all of those players are fit and in form (and in K. Cornes' case, improving) then it would an absolute joy to have Poulton playing for the Magpies.
But if even a couple of them down, I'd like the knowledge that we've got a player like Poulton that can come in to fill the gaps, because we know he can...he's done it before. Who else is there not in that 25 that you know could certainly do what Poulton does?
I respect Poulton for the same reasons you do Porthos but I think that his disposal is not good enough under pressure for AFL football
In the SANFL finals he made some shocking decisions and disposal errors which really showed his limitations
He certainly cant' be knocked for his endeavour and commitment.
He reminds me a bit of Mark Viska in that way, though I would say that Poulton is the better player but they have similar strenghts and weaknesses.

Viska?!?!? Poor old Poults, I never thought he was that bad.

So, anyway, yeah, I reckon we should draft Simon Cox.
Tredders#16
Who is Simon Cox and who really cares?. The Power will go for the best player available and if that is Simon Cox, Well good luck to him.
Also Jars, Please never compare a Port premiership player to a Crows reject.

You mean never compare a Power reject to a Crows reject?
Who cares about the little league Premierships anyway when discussing AFL football
Perhaps I should say to you re the Lyle v Bickley post
Never compare a Port Reject to a Crows Dual Premiership Captain
You guys are seriously on drugs if you think Lyle was ever anywhere near as good as Bickley.
Perhaps start a thread on the main board and ask some neutrals.
I thinks it great that my 1000th post is a Port v Crows argument. Gotta love it.
Santos - your use of my Rihcardson post is a disgrace and you know it!!!:D

In the original response, I believe I was merely comparing their disposal!

Hey Porthos, looks like the Port board agreed with you and went with Poults!
I reckon it was because Cox was already taken at that stage!:D

Very good call on Poulton!
Glad we redrafted him, and his disposal has been great this year, actually don't ever recall it being that bad, two crucial goals after the siren this year for him, not a bad effort
Poults, Hardwick and Wilson in the backlines, is that hard nutz galore or what?

Well done Poults! Great goal under huge pressure!
I still reckon Cox would have kicked it as well!;)

Simon Cox is becoming one of the most releable shots on goal in the league
Just to really upset you all. Before Cox was delisted, he was offered to Port for Lockwood.
