out for 2 - another "good" performance in a string of "good" performances

one of the best "leading by example" captains you'll ever see... or not...

Dropped Afridi as well in the middle of his innings. Next over he hit 2 sixes in a row then went on to make 90 odd :D

Drop him from the ODI team, just like Hayden, may improve his game. Afridi - can be so good and so bad.

All that and he's still a better captain than Poontang.

i'd rather have a better no.3 bat thanks. Ponting kills Vaughan when it comes to batting. :)

Plain and simple, England are struggling, and i cant see them winning them winning the series from the position that they are in, if they can bat out tomorrow then I'd say the match will be drawn, but i doubt the way they are batting that they will do this. Pakistan have played very well, and this second test line-up looks a lot stronger than the first one, with the inclusion of Afridi and Hasan strengthening the bowling line-up, Pakistan are improving as a side and they are all still young and have the potential to create a decent test side. Been disappointed with the effort England have put up so far in the series and this match, injury hasnt helped and im not happy with some of the choices that the selectors have made. England need to there act together tommorow and get there heads down and bat properly, and try and push for the win in this match so that they can have some hope at winning the series.

Its quite simple

England in England=Good test team
England away from England=a poor team

You rely too heavily on 2 or 3 players.

England didnt win the Ashes, Australia lost them.

What a ridiculous comment to make.

I'm as big an Aussie supporter as they come, but to say we lost them and England didn't win them is just asinine. England outplayed the Aussies, and you have the nerve to say they rely on 2 or 3 players. So do we, we lost one and had to rely on one to do the job. Hardly a great team effort on our behalf.

Last overseas England had, they beat the Saffies. That is a good effort.

Not easy to have a two month lay off in the off season and have to play on the slow Pakistan pitches.

And Vaughan also copped a ripper of a yorker.

Im sick of people comparing Vaughan to Ponting its just not right.

Ponting in test has made: 7662 runs at and Average of 56.75 with 25 Centurys and 29 Half Centuries and taken 108 Catches and is regarded as the Best Fielder in the World and has scored 4 Double Centuries.
In One Dayers: 8447 runs at an Average of 42.02 with 18 Centuries and 47 Fifties. and has a average of 98 at 20-20 Level. Also has a first class average of 59.65 and is Ranked No.2 in the World for Batting in both forms of the Game.

Michael Vaughan has made: 4513 runs at an Average of 43.81 with 15 Centuries and 13 Fifties and has Taken 36 Catches. In one dayers he has made: 1730 runs at an average of 28.36 with NO HUNDREDS and 15 Fifties. and has an Average of a Golden Duck at 20-20 Cricket. And his first Class average is 38.41

Please its not Fair to such a great Cricketer in Ricky Ponting to Compare him to a Dud like Vaughan.

How was he dismissed?

Did he have his off-stump sent cartwheeling, followed by the "that kept low" stare at the pitch?

isnt a yorker just a misjudged full toss or half volley.. a step forward and its a full toss, a shuffle back and its a half volley..

dont get me wrong, left handers used to suss me out with those bloody yorkers swinging in.. had many a leg stump knocked out.. but to a world class player, not many top order players these days get out to yorkers unless shoab or lee gets a 160km to dip in..

You've had the Ashes once in 15 years, and you'll hold it for about a year and a half, so savour it while you can. I can't wait to see Harmy lose his run up, Giles have a cry because the media doesn't like his bowling, Fletcher made to look like the fat, whinging, arrogant c*** that he is, Vaughan ******** himself when he faces B Lee and Tait at the WACA and Simon Jones injure his knee in the field again. All this as well as Australia winning the Ashes.

Keep ignoring the fact that we have come out of this series and thrashed a team made up of the best players in the world, while you have been losing to Pakistan, who are ranked 7th in Tests at the moment.

What a silly comment. Regardless of if England won them, or we lost them. The bottom line is they have the ashes. No matter how much we bitch, complain and make excuses. The scorebook only says how many, not how.

Good to see the poms looking to the past already. Who gets the feeling that Englands 2005 Ashes win will be the same as Collingwoods 1990 premiership?

There supporters will still be talking about this Ashes victory 15 years after it happened!

Personally I thought it was a fair effort, those players are the best in the world and we have had to get each one of them out, and haven't been able to face any average bowlers.

Whereas you can't even manage to get this rank 7th team's batsmen out, so you have to resort to threatening to injure their captain to get him to jump out of his crease, and claiming catches that clearly aren't catches.

England are world champions in everything they do and they will tell you aswell even if it was 10, 20, 30 or even 50 years ago.

Replays didn't shown that it wasn't a catch...AUSTRALIAN umpires ruled it was caught. Funny, no reference to our opponents digging up the pitch in the middle of our innings or the filthy Paki's blowing up drinks carts to scare us off....just imagine it was the Aussies out there :D They'd already be on the plane back home.

There's no evidence to suggest that it wasn't a catch. Umpires thought it was out as well. So where's the wrong doing?
