View Full Version : LtD's personal apology to Mr Ian Bell.
LIONS then DAYLIGHT

Dear Mr Ian Bell or to whom it may concern,
Since i have seen your batting in the ashes series I often mocked you regarding your inability to score runs against a decent attack. I subjected several jokes and taunts towards your goodself. After your batting in this Pakistan series it has become evident to me that you are in fact a sensational batsmen, the best young batsmen in the world, with a bright future ahead of you. Congratulations on your hundred. You could well be the great man cometh. Once again, in the words of Richie Benaud, WELL DONE AND GO WELL.
Thank You Very Much Indeed.
Yours Faithfully,
LtD.

I bet if he reads this he will suddenly think "Thankyou very much indeed? Who says that?"
:D
Fair play LtD.
Mmmm......it's not a very sincere apology though is it?
It'll be interesting to see how Bell goes over the next coule of series, I think the bottom line is that he's a better bet than all the other English batsmen knocking on the door bar Cook.

Always rated the young lad
He was undone by some high class bowling in the Ashes, fine young players bounce back.

Well done LtD.
Important poms like me don't get carried away though. India will be a big test for him.

Nice stuff LtD, but i think Eddiesmith also owes him an apology, from his recent bagging of Bell and the fact that he wanted Collingwood in the side ahead of him.
I leave you with this picture.

That shows how fickle you are LtD. You write him off, and a couple of good innings later he's a champ?
edward, still want Collingwood in the side instead? When did he ever win a game for England at test level. He isn't good enough. He has a top score of 36, 119 runs and an average of 14 from 8 innings. Absolute rubbish stats, and he doesn't have age on his side like Bell does.
Seems although you are going to be stubborn on this one.
Any true England fan would be hoping Ian Bell does well, any true follower of England cricket knows what a good player he is. I can't help but feel you are just sat back waiting to say "I told you so". Pathetic edward.

What is Pakistan's attack like? I only seem to recognise Afridi and Akhtar. A case of Bell plundering mediocre attacks again? That said, he seems to be the only one....Trescothick aside.
This isn't a weak attack and anyone would be proud to make runs against it.
His technique was assured against spin and seam, playing 95mph Shoaib Akhtar balls back down the pitch wth assurance. He got a bit stuck in the Ashes, I believe it was more the situation than the ability that caused the failures, and Shane Warne.
But he has learnt from his Ashes experience and is a better player for it.
Bell will be a great player for England long term. :thumbsu:

What a shame the 3 foot hole Afridi dug in the pitch didn't help their bowlers.

The fact that you recognise 2 players is probably your downfall in this forum...Not long untill footy season now.

When has Bell ever won a test match for England? What, never?
Last game he choked, its a disgrace. Would be happy if he did well, but so far he hasnt shown much

I honestly cannot understand why you dislike him so much. He has done well in this test match after a tough baptism in the Ashes (Bangladesh doesn't count as a baptism).
He is the best option available, a great talent with a great future. Would you much rather have Key playing? Get behind him champ.
He got a reprieve because of Vaughan's injury, this opportunity was vital for his immediate test career. And he has responded brilliantly. :thumbsu:

Should make it a habit! :D
These posts were just so, so inevitable.
I will continue to stand by him, he has what it takes.
Short term pain = long term gain,
And it hasn't all been pain with Bell! Thank You Very Much. I would of thought that people would of learnt writing off young players is just one of the biggest sins, it almost always comes back to kick you up the arse. Get ready for sore arses :D:thumbsu: And not just for those knocking Bell, those knocking Clarke as well HAVE FAITH.

Bell > Clarke.
You people laugh at Bell....but than think Clark is actually....good?
Bwahahahahahaahhaahahahaha :D
a one off century against india or bangladesh
I CANT WORK OUT WHICH IS BETTER!
btw i dont care that bell got one against the pakis, clarke got one against NZ or Sri Lanka (i think)
he also got a 90 against england, what was bells top score?
Bells top scores:
162* v Bangladesh
68* v Bangladesh
*********************
FORGET ALL THAT
*********************
70 v West Indies
63 v Australia (out having to slog when well set and looking good)
59 v Australia
71 v Pakistan
115 v Pakistan
That is 4 50+ scores against good teams, and the Windies bowling he faced when he first got to the wicket on debut was very good and hostile indeed.
Bell has made a good score against everyone he has come up against so far, and has shown enough promise to me (as well as the innings I have seen him play for years in county cricket, and his scores in A tours, U-19 games) to make me believe long term, he will be a successful batsman for England. I am not going to write a batsman who has been highly thought of since he was in his teens (was selected for NZ tour 3 years ago) off after 10 test matches, and who is still only 23 with possibly over a decade left in the game.
I have faith. And am not going to jump on any bandwagons that write off any young cricketers prematurely. Be it Bell, be it Clarke, be it whoever.
Thanks.
