Just curious as to Brisbane Lions supporters response to the announcement that former Tiger and Bomber, Ty zantuck ahs been training with you guys, and is hoping for a return to the big league. Personally, and everyone at Richmond or Essendon would tell you this, his attitude is terrible, and i dont understand why anybody would want him.

yeh...to be honest , when i heard this i was very very suprised that we have even considered him. Could be handy in the backline if he gets back to form

i think my face looked like this when i read it  then
Yeah my initial reaction was what the? and then i thought of martin pike. No one wanted pikey five years or so ago, and he helped us to three premierships. All accounts seem to be bad attitude, party boy but talented. He'll cost us nothing if he doesnt pan out, and if he does he could be a great pickup for close to nothing - no trades, no draft picks, probably min contract. So overall its a cant lose situation.

I'd liek to give him a shot, just a 1 year contract see how he goes for the year, i mean he is only what 23-24?
LIONS:
Win: Pikey
Loss: Heuskes.(although didnt cost much from memory)
Unkown: Ty Zantuck

Little Stevie Lawrence cost us. He was a regular member of a side that played finals in 1999 and 2000 that we had to replace. He managed to miss Brisbane's golden era, turned up at his dad's old club on the edge of their new golden era and still couldn't control the grog and temper.
Stupido cost us a wasted first round draft pick (#9 from memory). We didn't know but Essendon might have been able to get a clearer picture. But it's easy to say "he just needs to get back home to produce his best -- he's a good kid'. Now we're taking the 'Ty just needs to get away from home to produce his best.
Taking a punt, is taking a punt. There's nothing about our situation that means we can't learn from other's mistakes.
Lawrence Angwin was a first round pick that was thrown a lifeline by Carlton and laughed at it.
His mate Karl Norman played the 'it woz Lawrie what made me do it' card when he turned up for training half-maggoted but still can't even find his way to Doggies training now to save his career.
Zantuck has already been happily, some might say joyfully, 'let go' by 2 clubs, and not for reasons of injury or particularly poor performance.
He's middling sized and modestly talented at best. Why would you bother? At least Angwin was freakishly talented -- I can see the temptation.
Honestly Travis Baird is 4 years younger, 1cm taller, quicker and had more talent blindfolded than this bloke.

How can you lot not accept Zantuck. Him and Brown in the same team = awesomeness.

I really don't think Lawrence cost us anything, he was easily replaced. Wasnt that when ashcroft went back into defence out of the midfield. I'd say he wasnt a huge loss and was easily replaced. Freed up salary cap dollars too most likely. So respectfully disagree on Lawrence
Cupido is a different case really if you were to blame anything it would be the drafters for that one. Yes he did cost us that first rounder, but we got some compensation (cant remember which). I'd say it was the drafters fault.
Agree with you on Angwin, although I'd be giving them both a shot. Cannot comment on Baird, as dont watch the ressies, so i'll bow to you on that one - was there something we dont know with him? Guess we'll never know.
In the ideal world we never would have to give these guys a go, but unfortunately thats not the case. If we werent regularly losing players to the go home factor then we wouldnt have to resort to this 'risk taking'. In the salary cap world we live in, everything is measured in terms of salary cap and draft picks - thats what the costs are. In the case of Zantuck he costs very little, basically a roster spot and presumably min payments, and he even if he is only a $5.00 bet to make it it's still probably worth it.
My main point being both St.Kilda and Essendon believed they were clever enough to sort out two players we couldn't fix. "Brisbane just don't know how to treat the kid".
Essendon thought the same about Richmond when they drafted Zantuck only 12 months ago. I clearly remember the tigers blokes saying "you'll be sorry... Every bloke hates him... he's a nutter".
A week may be a long time in football, but maybe 12 months isn't.

Wouldn't know to be frank, but I am guessing that Leigh Matthews wouldn't want to have a thug playing for his team.

Brown + any player = awesomeness.
Seriously, Zantuck is possibly the most hated player in the AFL by his peers. He is a serious unit that can ruin the fabric of a football club by his presence around the club. It's not like he is an above average talent either. At least with Cupido there was a lot of talent, just no heart, courage or desire.
The Lions would be better served by looking at Green or Fixter, who both are better players than Zantuck without the baggage.

And it was reportable. He got suspended for it.
I don't think that Leigh Matthews will draft a dh like Zantuck at all because he is undiscipline.

Suzi, LM was no saint when he was a player, Remember Neville Bruns ?
If he adds value to teh side, he's worth a punt

So that makes it not ridiculously hilarious? I laughed my guts out and I support neither club. Hell, I would have laughed if I supported Hawthorn, the sight of TZ treating Shotgun like a rag doll was an extremely amusing sight. We need more of it in the game, badasses that is, and I also may add I'm a fan of Shotgun too. Take your umpiring mentality of "anything reportable is bad" away, Suziton.
Zantuck could bring back the 80's if he was allowed. God bless that man.

Yep, look everyone makes a enemy or two, but I've never heard a single teammate come out and say 'hey, get off his back,.. he's a good bloke'. I don't know him personally but gee a lot of blokes seem to take a dislike to him.
Though I reckon a few did snicker with the Williams incident.

i think if you put his attitude aside, he's still a pathitically bad footballer.
His disposil and skills are dreadful!!!!!
He can only get cheap possies from chip kicks to the pocket, he's always trailing his man and he gives away stupid free-kicks
IMO he was easily the worst player on our list last night and that's even before his attitude comes into play...
Warning: stay away
