Can anyone tell me whether he is good enough to take the step up?
We have a ruckman now...but is he good enough?

Wait till the actual draft is over first mate ;)
Rix is not mobile or talented enough for a KP and doesn't have the height or leap for the ruck. Works hard, goes hard but isn't AFL quality.
Saints just want some insurance in the ruck and would be just thinking of Rix as a guy who can play 5-6 games a year doing a Jason Blake type role of losing the ruck honourably.

He's not AFL standard, but he has improved unbelievably. Started at Port, then came to Box Hill and could barely mark the thing. Improved and got onto our Rookie list and nearly cracked it for a game at the end of 04. Delisted as he was too old to be rookied and this year he was easily the best ruckman in the VFL.
Weaver is right, Rix is primarily insurance.
