How the hell did every team pass on this player seeing that he broke the record for 3km time trial and beep test at the draft i thought he would have impressed a few teams to get picked
your thoughts?

speaking to terry wallace, he said:

The draft camp doesnt do much to the actual selections we and other clubs are gonan take. We have an idea who we like and who we dont after the national champs, we just use the draft camp as a way of,, perhaps seperating someone from another later on in the draft, when picks and talent becomes very blurred,a nd players are even. A player who does well at D/C and also at nationalos may move up the order a bit, but either way they'll get taken relitively high. Overall, it has no huge impact on who we are gonan take.

having tez said that, obviously no one rated him before D/C, thus his D/C didnt really ahve an influence on his drafting result. CLubs just arent iinterested. From my mail, the only club that had him considered,a dn this was after D/C was freo, and they had feined interest, more surprised at his results. He will most likely get rookied tho

No doubting his athletic abilities but that doesn't always get you a spot at AFL level. Anyone who has seen him play would probably give you more than i'm telling you but he may be just a good athlete and a so so footballer.

I dunno, someone who has seen him play can hopefully fill us in more.

Smells like Danyle Pearce. Outstanding DC, touted to go reasonably early but overlooked. A bloke with his character will ensure he makes the most of a rookie gig.

Exactly, players need to be nominated by a certain number of clubs in order to get an invite.....so there must have been a fair bit of interest before the draft camp.

Or Andrew Williams (always won the time trials at Collingwood, beating even Bucks and Lica by a fair way)

Probably not the scope for improvement that clubs want. I think he would have been worth a late selection but he should be picked-up in the rookie draft.

I thought he had a more than reasonable Nationals playing out of FF. Seemed to go ok.

Looks like he might be a chance to be on the MCG first in the Commonwealth games... where second rate athletes belong... in the world of aussie rules footy its known as the SANFL. :D

Charming words Zack

Bloke CAN play, and is bloody versatile, and clearly best engine going around, Can't fathom it, I think everyone just sees him as a FF who is an aths freak and not much else. He certainly can play the game and while he is NEVER going to be what u'd call a good to great AFL player he would be a solid contributer. Maybe thats what turned ppl, off they are looking for extra special footy talent. Tho some blokes got drafted I dont quite know why.

Should be a rookie pick...how wrong clubs were about Pearce, aths freak yet now look at him. Really starting to impress.

Bit Harsh, I'll agree but as a Hawthorn supporter we have been bitten on the arse for years with athletes. But I too would take him 2nd Rnd in the Rookie draft (just think there are 3 or 4 still early I'd take first so we'd have to wait for him to be available to Rnd 2 but I'd say he'll be gone by then) I think it's more noticeable than ever clubs are willing to rookie athletes these days to see if they can actually play in the real world before upgrading them.

he'll be rookied for sure, dodoro said this might be the best rookie draft. Clubs dont want to draft someone on the proviso they are offered 2 year contracts. They rookie them instead and see if there weaknesses can be addressed from first hand. Your also able to gauge a footballers work ethic to get on the list.

Even if he isn't good enough as a footballer you would have thought with that fitness you could have turned him into an outstanding tagger. I was very supprised when i saw he didn't get drafted

by all accounts his records were for slow endurance, didn't have great speed.
