I agree with the Drum/Mundy comparison. Both played as key backs in U/18 but are too small for AFL. Both are strong overhead and very athletic. And now both are playing for Freo!

I'm not sure about the Kennedy/Pavlich comparison and Mitch Clark is more of an Angwin than Gardiner, but I don't think he's anywhere near as wild as Angwin, and he'll be a better player (not that that's hard!).

Wishful thinking on all accounts. If any of the top 10 are as good as their comparisons, the club will look back as one of their best selections ever.

Some of those are alright, some are terrible.

I would say:

Marc Murphy - Ben Cousins

Dale Thomas - Luke Power

Xavier Ellis - Travis Johnstone (probably a bit smarter though)

Josh Kennedy - Luke McPharlin

Scott Pendlebury - Nigel Lappin (not as good, but similar size and evasiveness)

Beau Dowler - Matthew Richardson

Patrick Ryder - Jeff White

Jarrad Oakley-Nicholls - Brett Burton

Mitch Clark - Somewhere between Troy Simmonds and Justin Koschitzke

Marcus Drum - James Clement

He isn't as quick and I know this is with present players, but I'm happy with a comparison to Earl Spalding who was a super-competitive CHF in our last flag side.

But hopefully he's a better kick.

Actually, I mean off the field - in terms of maturity and leadership I 'spose, would've been a better choice of words.

I was actually tossing up between the two, more in terms of being able to make an impact at either end.

Although there hasn't been too much negative reaction to this thread there should be a disclaimer saying these players play a very simular style to these players.
Thomas and Gary Ablett Jnr seems to be pretty spot on from the little of seen and all I've heard from him, looks a bit like him too, I have also read he is a James Hird like player but that is not saying he will be in his league but they have simular styles.

I think Oakley-Nicholls comparison would be a super quick version of Lovett-Murray from Essendon.

Drum = Dunn.

Dunn was always more of a midfielder, Drum = Mundy is a better comparison.

But are you comparing the recruits with experienced players, say players with 25+ or 50+ games under their belts or doesn't matter?

Drum = Dunn.
Hoping Dunn does something this year.

Mundy has grown a few centremetres and may in the future be a KPP, which quite a few posts which have seen Drum listed as 190cm say he is too small for. What the Dockers are probably looking for is a replacement for Parker in the near future, plus a bit of leadership/vision in the backline. A combination of Drum and Mundy down there looks like it could be awesome. They will need a taller tall for the big lugs though, and hopefully Polak takes a couple of steps up.

lol.Well obviously i'd like him turn out at least half as good.Just like the rest of the teams would hope their player ends up as good as the comparrison(bar Brissy,I suspect the're hoping for more than a Mcdoogs :D ) I just can't think of a player he's more like.Wisbey's comparrison with Murphy was a bit strange I thought.I guess Vinnie Vegas one of Brett Burton isn't bad but J.O-N looks like he has more explosive speed than Brett but doesn't have the stamina to run all day like Brett.Also looks a bit like an impact player rahter than a 28 possesion getter.I'll stick with Wells.:)
