With the draft over now, where do we stand on our 2006 rookies??
There were a couple of notable ommissions from the draft and I was wondering if anyone knew what how many we are now able to select at the rookie draft?
Dzufer and Jessie White in particular were probably expected to be picked up, and there were also Nate Roffey (any relation to the goal umpire??) and Hayden Kiel.
Thanks

Brother.
Roffey, over White. Jessie doesn't look over tall, and his best achievement at draft camp was being heaviest.

Dzufer must be a certainty

Not sure on the ages of the guys. I saw a report that Dzufer was a monty to be rookied, but I think Footydraft described hiom as bottom-aged.
Keil and White are too young
Kannis and Roffey seems to be the only eligible ones at this stage.
You'll probably have to look to the Screening Camps for the Rookie players. Guys like Steve Brittain, Lee Spurr, Josh Walker, and Adam Mueller will surely come in to contention. Also, they may try some mature age players like they did with Drummond recently.

This was Drummond's third year on the rookie list so I'm not sure you could describe him as being mature-age when he started.
Brittain would be a good one to look at. Good solid game about him - nothing flash, but the bloodlines are good having seen his dad and brothers playing for Windsor-Zillmere growing up. Wouldn't surprise if they have another look at guys like Cheynee Stiller that tries out last year and didn't make it. Have heard good things about Mueller's game too.
Next year should be another good haul for Qld players in the draft. Dzufer and the other bottom-agers mentioned should go around again, then you've got blokes like Albert Proud, Gav Urquart and others that were too young for this years draft.
Drummond was 20 when Rookie listed wasn't he? It was only his third year on the Rookie list as you're only allowed two aren't you?
EDIT - I was correct. Drummond was 20 turning 21 (in Season 2004) when Rookie Listed at the end of 2003.

Yep, you're right. I stand corrected. For some reason I kept thinking he'd been on the rookie list for three years. Not sure why - I think you're right about the two year maximum.
Wouldn't surprise me if Ryswyk goes back onto the rookie list either.

I'm 99 percent sure that Nate Roffey is Chelsea Roffey's brother.
I went to the same school as her, she was a nice looking girl.
So how many Rookies for the Lions. Nine? Some must be from QLD, is that right?

Well if this news on Forsyth is right - he might end up on the rookies list.
I'm pretty sure that if you delist a draftee before their 2yr contract is up the club is liable to keep hold of them in some capacity.
So if it's true, and no one picks him up in the PSD, he might be a 2006 rookie for us.

Not a bad thought tapestry. He's had the dreaded OP for two years now, but has definitly got the ability. Reportedly came back to training with bad skinfolds, although that could have been because of on-going injury.
Earnt the nickname of "The Crab" for his running action when he made a return for Suncoast late last year.
Couldn't be jiggered looking the aflpa site now , but there something about bottom-aged players having to have a minimum of two years contract to start with. Not sure where Luke fits into this.
Regardless he's got a lot of fans for someone who's hardly got out on the paddock.

Dzufer sounds promising. Pretty surprised we didn't pick him up in the ND to be honest - local boy, be a welcome addition to the rookie list

Dzufer = too young for rookie listing AFAIK.
