Should we have picked him up on the father/son rule?.I remember his father Alan was a very talented player who didn't reach his full potential.

Jake wasn't eligible because Allan didn't play 100 games for Richmond (66).
He played another 35 injury-interrupted at Collingwood and finally 12 at Footscray (where his father played 120 games).
I was spewing when he left to join the Skunks. Not the same player after he did his knee there.

I didn't know Jake Edwards was Allan's son. I'd never heard of him though, until now.

Frank Aked (Dogs - 108 games)
Arthur Edwards - his son in law (Dogs 120 games)
Alan 'Butch' Edwards (113 games)
Shane O'Bree - nephew of Butch became 4th generation

.. and now Jake Edwards.

So pretty traditional footy family.

jake is a really good player and a good bloke however dont put him in the ruck lol his arms go anywhere and everywhere would be suspended straight away with his ruck style of hitting guys in the face

Its areal shame Al went to the pies and didn't play 100 games for us because wait until you watch Jakey go.

agree he has TALENT, could be a key back or forward and has a good enough leap to pinch hit in the ruck

Jake is one of those strangely talented kids that may well turn out to be a superstar.

I can't put my finger on it yet, but every now and then he does something spectacular that shows he comes from a higher plane than the rest of us.

Good luck to him.
