Carlton got the best midfielder and the best Foward aswell as key backmen. One can only wonder what Collingwood was thinking

Speaking as neither Pie, Blue or Hawk, I can comfortably say I'd take Hawthorn's crop first any day. 4 out of their 5 were widely regraded as top 5 in the past 12 months (only Birchall wasn't) and two were talked about as genuine No#1's (Ellis and Dowler).

We got the two players we wanted. Dunno how that's a negative thing!

Time will tell. Carlton have an appalling record with early draft picks. Massie, Vance, Livingston, Walker, etc. Everyone in the top 20 is going to win a brownlow, according to their profiles, but the reality is, only 4-5 of them will turn out to be guns.

What Collingwood was thinking? We were thinking we wanted midfielders, so we got the two available ones that we rated the highest.

We then went and got a couple of mongrel defenders and a very young wingman who's got good endurance and is very strong overhead.

I'm pretty happy with that.

So who grabbed the other two then? ;)

Yes well, considering the Hawks had the higher picks over-all, I think it is only natural that they would come out of it smelling of roses. Them picking up Meeson with pick twenty something is about right given his injury. I think they did all there work pre-draft.

Titter all you like Colliwobbles but apart from having a few less passengers, you are petty much in the same boat as us. I agree that gloating about our draft picks is a little premature and maybe uncalled for but at least respond with a little bit more pertinency please.

And who are Bolton, Davies, Heffernan, Harvey, McVeigh and McAlister Einstein?

Dud first picks and Sheedy is past it going on his record at the draft.

And also Muston was rated the best midfielder in the TAC cup and potentially as good as Deledio by his coach proir to his knee injury..

If he gets over his knee fully he could be anything.. Fantastic risk to take!

Mate I agree with you on the other 3 but Walker has only 2years in the system give hime another year or two and then make judgement.

Unfortunately, Blueboy, it won't matter what Walker achieves, and it will probably be the same for Murphy, there will be heaps of people ready to drag them down. It is nice to know that even at our lowest point, the opposition still hate us and we know that hate grows out of envy for what the club has been able to achieve in its wonderful history.

The funny thing about Essendon is they have blokes like Hennerman on their list... early picks but a seven year project player...waiting..Laycock is another success story...

Walker is a plodder, and everyone knows it. Carlton fans won't admit it though because he is a #2 pick and they all had such huge wraps on him early.

But hey, if you think pulling out names like Henneman, Bolton or McAllister makes Walker's selection justified, go right ahead.

Walker is very much bottom age and only going into his 3rd year.

Very good prosect, would love him at Tigerland.

Actually Birchall was #5 for a short while on footydraft.com, I don't know about Baily and Tuck though.

They were probably thinking thank god it is the weakest draft in 10 years and Murphy wouldn't have made the top 5 in any other draft :p
