View Full Version : Ryan Jackson and Collingwoods Picks
My first strong argument is What the hell is going on? Were is ryan jackson in this draft. Captain of the Northern Knights this year. Third in the morrish medal and Best finals player of the series without a doubt for the Knights. The only argument against him is where would he a play in A.F.L? Well where the hell are some players that are way below ryan going to play?. He has all the ability except for not that fast.
As a collingwood supporter it was said that the pies may have taken him. But instead they took John anthony who is a backman and collingwood do not need another backman and Ryan is a way better performer on and off the field for the Knights and guarantee you now for anyone football club he would be an inspiration for them. This is not ryan this is just a mate of his. And F*** you west coast. Saying to young ryan that we will take you in the draft. But instead you choose not to. heard reports that use did this to a young fella who is know on the Essendon rookie list last year. But hey this is football and in my mind Jackson should really be picked up in the rookie draft has anyone not seen him play. In my eyes better perfomer than half the people in the draft.
NOw my 2nd argument. Collingwoods choice to take Scott Pendlebury. MMMMMMMM ahead of Patty Rider? Pendlebury to me seems a bit to skinny for the pies liking and we dont need another midfielder if we picked up Thomas. Thomas was a good pick at Number 2 in my view better than Ellis. Ellis is a Murphy type player may have been a handy pickup but the pies do need someone who can run down forward. There option to pass in the later picks? suppose there wasnt much else available. John anthony taken at 37. He his a fiery player but once again where will the pies play him. Got good height but should go alright
I dont mean to sound like a whinge by the way fellas lol
My brothers friend was told he wud be picked up by 2 clubs, neither of them did. Its the way of the draft, there is no guarantees and if your mate thought he was a guarantee he shud pull his head out of his ass

WTF!? Dude, we need midfielders more then anything. One isn't going to cut it, plus technically we only picked up one midfielder in the up coming years from the draft, 3 flankers and a KPP.
Stanley = Midfielder.
Thomas, Pendlebury & Cook = Flankers.
Anthony = KPP.
Word is you will be taking a teammate of Jon Anhtonys.... and no not Jackson.

Collingwood do not have a plethora of young tall backs and Anthony was picked as one to develop so he can take the place of a Wakelin in a few years time , your mate wasn't deemed good enough to be drafted -******** happens.
Collingwood are in strong need of a new breed of mids and drafting one certainly isn't and wasn't enough.
Pendlebury: in my eye we dont really want him. This is my opinion though and stanley was a good pickup i seen a game of Pendlebury against The Knights didnt rate him that much.
If it would be a teamate of John Anthony's im guessing Paul Currie if top age and Riddle if its bottom age. Where did you hear this?
Nope and nope.
Do you play for the knights or something?

We don't really want him yet we drafted him? You don't rate him after seeing (or playing against him ;)) one game?

No I haven't , was he drafted?
Word is you will be taking a teammate of Jon Anhtonys.... and no not Jackson.
I'd say it would be more likely to be one of Cathal Corr as he has done a bit of testing down there or if not him Bronik Davies who suits the old style of Collingwood recruiting pretty well.
How'd I go?:)
Nope and nope.
Do you play for the knights or something?
Nope but got mates who are bottom age and watched a couple of their games who is the person. Is it Anderson
No he didnt get drafted why would i post this if he did

Going into next season, Collingwood will have one AFL tested tall defender under the age of 28, in Nick Maxwell. With Wakelin possibly retiring at the end of the year, we needed to add to that stable.
As for midfielders, with Buckley and Burns both unlikely to play much midfield any more, and guys like O'Bree, Morrison, Lockyer all likely candidates for delisting at the end of next year, we need a new young force of midfielders to step up.
Besides, you can never have enough 190cm talented midfielders - Pendlebury could be anything with his size and ability.
I'm actually most happy with getting Danny Stanley so that now Clement isn't the only defender on our team capable of really beating the smaller sized forwards.
oh and seen him play the grand final no were to be seen other than givin cheap shots behind the play and tryin to start fights did it against the Knights aswell

On the money mate.
I wont tell you who, but one of those 2.
Damn, why didnt I just say one name.:D
Oh well I'm pretty sure I know which one anyway.
don't matter which one there just as equal as each other

I would quite happy to get Bronik Davies - Hardest working kid around.
And you can never have enough B. Davies' at the club :p
Bronik is a very hard working kid, but so is CC.
Bronik also had, if he went, the highest vertical leap.
Jackson would probably be a certain rookie. Can play enough.
Might he wander up to Seymour with his brother as the Lions defend there Goulburn Valley FL title?
And F*** you west coast. Saying to young ryan that we will take you in the draft. But instead you choose not to.
I may be wrong on this one or confusing him with another player but didn't Brisbane do almost the same thing to Jacko in last years draft. Like I said I may be wrong but that rings a bell.
west coast wouldn't have told ryan that they would be definately taking him, but would of showed a lot of interest. the reason for this is that they need to know a lot of background on the boys and make sure they are ready and mature enough to make a move and are capable of doing so..west coast do it to a lot of young boys, and i think i know the essendon rookie you are talking about..

And who do you recruit for?
There were 16 clubs drafting.
NO ONE took Jackson - what does that tell you?

It tells me there are still good players available in the rookie draft.
Went a watched about 40 of them trying out at Punt Road yesterday. There's still some very promising players available in this rookie draft.More than last year IMO.

Ryan Jackson. Too slow, too one sided and too predictable. Tends too hold back and will only push forward. Has good stamina which he uses to go around the packs. Overhead marking is a little suspect.
All in all may have a chance at a rookie list.
Scott Pendlebury. Quick and elusive. Can play mid field, flanks or as a fill in key position (CHF for Vic Country against WA). Very good in the air and disposses very well on both sides of the body. Named in the best 7 times in a premiership team after going back to footy this year. His upside is huge.
As for the sniping in the grand final, you must have been on the turps early.
Gleave. Has an obvious eye for spotting talent.

So why didn't Richmond take him, if he is so good?

You are so right Tyger about both players.

I would love to know what games you were watching. Oh sorry! It's your Ryan Jackson we are talking about he wouldn't do anything worry would he.!!!!
Pendlebury and Jackson are 2 different players. Thats why pendlebury got taken at 5 so TALENTED PLAYER im not getting defensive of Jackson just saying that he was better than most of the people in the draft. but found out today that carlton asked him to go on their rookie list after saturday's draft. And yes Ryan does get very toey and Gets angry. OMG!! your saying jackson is one sided haha and too predictable. If the Knights thought that of him don't think he would have been captain this year
Im not going to change my mind about pendlebury being not that good of player its just i dont rate him very much and i did watch the Grand final how many touches did he get? and the Final down at geelong against the Knights? Their finals games? how many touches did pendlebury get in both of those games

23 possessions (14 kicks, 9 handballs) in the qualifying final, 22 possessions (14 kicks, 8 handballs) in the preliminary final, 17 possessions (12 kicks, 5 handballs) and a goal in the Grand Final.
What's your point again?

On Sunday at Richmond Screening day i know that Andre Gianfagna, Paul Currie, Nick Carnell and Cathal Corr were there and Neaves Robertson and Wall were there. Ainger from Oakleigh conked out half way and thats all i heard
And he will get the chance to play AFL.
MMMMMMMMMMM.......and no your probably all thinking im ryan. Well fellas no im not ryan im just a mate of his and just searching for answers on why he didnt get drafted.
mmmmmmmm are you sure about Pendlebury getting all those possesions didnt see him in and under really.....My point once again is that i dont rate him especially at Number 5

Was he the one who did his groin??
Aparantley some player slipped on the cricket pitch and pulled his groin

Well I would have thought that would have been obvious
16 clubs didn't think he was good enough.
What else do you and Ryan need to know?
Ryan doesnt even know im writing in here so mate i dont think he would need to know anything. And by the sounds of it you seem to be getting grumpy with me explaining things so why keep coming back on and posting on my thread when your clearly trying to say that im ryan when im not

Look Gleave the possesions that vinne-vegas are right. I'm still wondering what games you were at. Tell Rayan Jackson don't get his hopes up until the rookie draft has been and gone. Anything can happen in the big city.
I've already told you i was watching The Grand final of the T.A.C cup and Gippsland V Northern..... Preliminary final
Ryan has been put on the Carlton Rookie list by the way. Appareantly The blues rang him after the draft on saturday and said they were going to put him on there

Yeah and you also said he was told he was going to get drafted!!!
Ryan is a very good player, unfortunatley none of the clubs needed a player that plays his type of football, I'm sure that's all there is to it. Lots of very good players missed out. If they really want to keep playing, they will go to a VFL club or find some other way of getting into the system, and even then, there is no guarantee that they will get picked up. It's a fact of footy life. As for Scott Pendlebury, you had your eye's closed mate, he is and will be a great player, not everyone has a good day out, but Scott was pretty consistant throughout the year and a pleasure to watch, has the height and the smarts and can pick a pill out of the air without problems, so just because your mate missed out, don't go bagging others when you haven't seen enough of them to comment.
finally someone has agreed with me probably about the 2nd person. My point pretty much hit the spot by The EXTRACTOR. You all think im whinging about jackson not getting drafted. Read what the extractor said and you will see how he puts jackson why ahead of pretty much duds. A Apprentice builder got picked up in the draft didnt even play T.A.C cup or nothing.
If you read what i posted 1 argument is about why jackson did not get drafted and the other about How Pendlebury got taken ahead of Ryder and much better players. Pendleubry has nothing to do with jackson so For all you idiots out there must have trouble with their English read that their are 2 arguments in my post. NOt that hard boys

Your thread?
Novel idea
What is it that you and Ryan don't understand?
What part of "Not good enough" don't you get?
okay mate i've just about had enough of this. Ryan doesn't F*** know im writing on here. Okay mate well you can think his not good enough. And stop repeating yourselves all the time.
Once again read the 2 arguments properly

Not that there is anything wrong with that
