G'day Roomies,

Can I join in with this my 1st open posting?

My handle is "Precursor" but I shall sign off as Oz. ....The handle is unfortunate as it indicates I'm new to the room, .... but I'm no "newbaby". …I have surfed the Net for years (1995), … hosting & mentoring Computer Chat rooms for many of them. Not wish to be conceited, … my IQ is up there and I may at time appear to be out there with it, ...so a apologist in advance to those that may take that the wrong way. I shall engage with those of you that wish me it if I'm allowed and look forward to the opportunities making new acquaintances this meeting place provides for us all.

I'm on a positive mission and looking forward to an excellent result. For me this is the right place & the right time. .... I'm also a keen follower of the great game & am a minor sponsor an entire division by supporting the code rather than just a single team. .... I do have my favourites, ....but don't be fooled, ... you will not know who they are even by researching my profile.

I need to maintain anonymity so as I’m not approached for commercial reasons, …yet I may make personal contact with trusted members as time goes by.

I trust this will assist the room to understand me a little. Here ends my clumsy introduction. ....:thumbsu:

Today I would like to start by make the following contribution from my life's skills and observations.

I trust it will be thoughtful and provocative all at the same time …yet have others also respond with the similar courteous passion I’m wishing to evoke in those that would respond.

Here goes, >>>>>>>

All the Weaglas supporters (& fair minded devotees' of the code overall), .... I guess we are in for more heart ache over the memory (.... or inquisition into same)of one of the greatest plays the club & game's has ever spored.

I was very saddened to learn of Chris Mainwaring's death yesterday as I'm sure all respectful fans will agree. ...:(

To those of us to have seen Chris at his best, ... the lost is nothing less than tragic and this talented play from the hardest of all hard rock mining town will be missed. I recall those to have known him shed tears of joy when he did something beyond skill, ..... leaving a bar room fully of us in disbelief at what he did. .... I have that feeling again, ..... but this time because he's no longer amongst us, and my tears are for altogether another reason. ...:(

I wounder what good can come from the media sweating on the results of an autopsy and linking Chris with Ben Cousins as they are do?

As Ben's mentor, ....what is the surprise in that? .... It appears to me as if the media finds news with what, .... I'm offended it's more likely to be designed to sell papers by tainting Chris's wonderful playing memory and the legacy he leaves behind in his memory and good deeds.

I'm also concerned for Chris's family & friends with this unwelcome attention at this saddest of sad time for them.

Chris was well liked beyond his footy, .... a good community personality that inspired the best in kids that wanted to play just like him.

.... I for one can't see any percentage from raking Chris's legacy through the dirt, ... nor do I think we ever need to know more about Chris then we already know.

...I don't say Chris was saintly, .... but few humans are. ....He was a man, wild and willing, and under rules mortals like the majority of us can't imaging.

... What good can flow now he's gone from us by looking for flaws designed to undermine his memory. What public interest will be served at that expense to his memory. ....:thumbsd:

What do all true fans of the code (not a single club) think about the man and the issues that may do nothing to honour his memory as a player of exceptional value? ....

Do we need to find fault in a person that can't reply?

... Do we need to draw attention to what can only be unnecessary hurt for his friends and family?

...I think not!

 ......Oz.

[quote=D.I.Y. Man;9020208]Did U get some wacky tobaccy from myrtleford before they all sold up?? Head off mate to much info, remember simple footballers on here and most of us 2's hacks that love just a quick rumour. Not a F'ckn English lesson!!

Cheers Big Ears! /quote]

Ha, ha, ha, ha!

Good feedback D.I.Y (& roomies)! .... :thumbsu:

However, ... I did know I would run into you D.I.Y, (... in all your aliases forms) ... and hence the apology in advance you may recall.
.....rotflmao! :D

I'll try and keep it simple 4 ya and take ya point. …. Nonetheless I like to write and put it out there for the response as much as for the content. ....
You replied man, .. so we both know you gave it some thought, ..... and I've got to know a few of you a bit already. .....;)

English Lesson! ..... My old teachers would be rolling in there graves to see someone place me in the same sentence other than to say I needed them, .....you flatter me. ...:thumbsu:

By the way I'm gunna cover a few topics in the one reply, ...you say you're just simple footballers! That's a broad brush and I disagree with you if you're saying you're all; "...thicker than 2 short planks"; "...dumber than barker's eggs", " ....a sandwich short of a pick-nick" ....cause I just don't believe that from what I've seen in some of the comments thus far.

(Don't underestimate yourselves, ...cause I see it differently. I did my home work before jumping in. .... and I'm on a mission.)

Also, .... other comments have me think that some supporter (...) are just fair weather sailer when writing negative crap like " ...I wish my team would win more than X # of game a season.... (par phrasing of course).

NOTHING WORTHWHILE COMES FOR FREE, ...disappointment is just a phase in the journey my friends. If it don't kill ya, ... you'll be stronger for the experience. Don't bellyache or give it away, ..... rise to the challenge and turn it around and focus on the opportunity to make your make, ... make a difference. That true character, ..... that's what turns a club around.

....The thing that would impress me or any one would have been, ... I'm gunna have a go next season and get behind my club and drum up some support with the locals and put some heart back into "My Club"!

... Just like I do now, ...anyone can find fault and kick the crap out of something, no real insight or effort in that. ... My point, ..... find a positive and construct an opportunity.

...It take a true believer to dig deeper and put the shoulder to the load and build support by example rather than expect some "Knight in Shinning Armour" to come recur them.

Guys ... you are the knights in shinning armour, either by playing; ... going to the games every week; .... sitting behind the counter and selling pies and soft drinks to the punters; (... and don't forget the St John's Teams & Umpies) .....There's your everyday code supporter, .... that's grassroots heart and soul. These days I through money at my local code and support all our clubs equally in that small way. ... It's the encouragement of the juniors that does it for me, ..they are the future feedstock of the game. ....you've gotta keep the faith (I say).

Please get behind your clubs and jump in. Make any type of contribution you can and don't do it for the praise or acknowledgment, ... do it to make a difference.

(.... More provocation to what you've described as simple footballers! ....)

Give me an earfull about the O&M Umpies association and what you think about em.

.... I really would like to see where you rank them and the contribution they've made to your local code?

(This should be revealing about the way the room sees the world.)

Now, ....

... Banggoal! .... I wish I could post a "JPeg" cartoon for you in this message man, ... I have a great one that will make you or anyone laugh your nippies off about "Crack".

May be another time.

By the way, ... I do have an addition, .... it's building community and positive outcomes. ...Care to get high or something different? Care to engage and raise the bar?

 ...Oz

G'day Rowger ... :thumbsu:

This is my de-stressing man, ... only take about 5 to 10 min's to write em, .... about an hour or so to read what everyone’s saying. .... :p

Normally it's very late at night and my night cap. ... and your dead right, ... I should get a life, .... but what's better than this man? ...:D

I was trying to be short, .... and it seems anything longer than a sentence is too long, but I'll concede I'm an acquired taste and it could just be the topic or material I've picked. .... or may be you really know me & I'm just a pain in the dairy air.

(...No prizes for guessing what your answer will be!!!! .... :D)

But, (and yet again), .... you too have taken a moment to serve it up to me! .... ;) .... so thanks for the effort, even though it focuses on the negative rather than addressing the opportunity to start a fire of real enthusiasm.

.... I understand I’ve either gotta write one liners, … or you (the room collectively that is) get mad and become more productive with your fingers and rip it into me with a few paragraphs EACH!

(….. just kidding, ….. footy and growing passion for it is what I’d rather see myself.)

I'd luv ta keep it going, ... but I've take your point and will stop here and write more later.

Suffice to say I was nonplussed by a thoughtless post that I took offense at. I reacted on behalf fair play. .... I trust the person never knows or need to know about the potential damage that might have befallen them.

I vigorously made my position clear and I am pleased to see that the original post and my reply have been removed. Here too I trust all potentially adversely damage is removed and the person protected by the Moderators decisive actions.

I would also like to say I could see no reason why the identification of an individual in such a scurrilous fashion was deemed necessary in the 1st place. I thought I would throw a curly one in there. I spoke to him the other day and the only pre season he will be putting in is drinking plenty of grog over Christmas time.

I wonder if Henneman will return to his home club with the signing on of Toss???? Knowing Toss he will get 110% out of his charges, so with the young guys the club already has plus a few extras it will be very interesting.

What's the word around Yarra at the moment? Will Hargreaves stick around? I heard that there has been some offers from over at Barooga that could be to good to refuse.

It is the start of the silly season so I look forward to the comings and goings.

Osborne is still a good player and his hardness at the ball is what causes the other teams the head aches and he has only been gone for a year. Al Mackenzie was playing really good football in the back line and held down some bigger and stronger full forwards when playing and was still only a kid. Mills is not coming back as he has had 2 knee re constructions. Taft is an absolute gun just ask Timba and some other gun forwards in the league. Symes has shown that he was the best full forward running around in the O&M when he was playing. Give him a full pre season under his belt and he could kick a few bags. And Harrop won't be making the trek back as stated in my previous post as he is settled in Shep and has just built a house over there... but never say never.

Plus add in maybe Aaron Henneman plus keep their young blokes and they will climb the ladder.Plus Tossel always gets the best out of blokes.

Ricky symes is no chance his cousin or brother something like that is coaching benella, Ryan Macca is staying in perth loves it there and ozzi is a definate to go to wahgunhya , As for henno he is studying to be a police officer and is staying down there for another year but the story goes 2009 is when he returns you heard it first here, Mat mills is to fat , Taft is nearly a definent starter though he was toss love child and would still brain them in O&M, Harrop is no chance. Blair is a cousin of Brent. He has nearly headed to the Central Murray a couple of times where his family holiday every year.Travel factor always the issue so wang could be a chance.Justin Murphy and he are very tight and were playing together this year as a package;so that may be an option. Some other news is that a Wang Rovers O&M rep looks set to accept a coaching job in the next couple of days.:cool:

Ricky symes is no chance his cousin or brother something like that is coaching benella, Ryan Macca is staying in perth loves it there and ozzi is a definate to go to wahgunhya , As for henno he is studying to be a police officer and is staying down there for another year but the story goes 2009 is when he returns you heard it first here, Mat mills is to fat , Taft is nearly a definent starter though he was toss love child and would still brain them in O&M, Harrop is no chance. That is all i have got and its all 99.995% true over and out:D

Your thread shows that you are an absolute goose and do not know what your are talking about. As I have stated in other threads (Apart frommy first thread...tounge in cheek) Harrop and Mills won't come back due to obvious issues. And as for the other players I might be alot closer than you think so you can work it out. Just wait and see. Therefore you are about 49.996% true (Harrop and Mills) over and out.:D

wild would most likely only accept some sort of coaching role one would think as his playing days are pretty much over with his back injury. looks like yarra will need some handy pickups with the FB and CHB heading off.

You were obviously at the game HTL - the other player is Marcus Dean - CHF/Ruckman. Around 6ft 5 and very mobile.

Did watch the GF Alter and Heidleberg are a very slick unit! Can't recall Marcus Dean but no doubt would be a handy acquisition at 6ft 5. Wang must be offering these guys a handy package as I am sure they would be well renumerated at the Bergers!

Whats the go with Matt Mills - i know he had a reco a few years ago - has he ran into more injuries? Does he still play footy anywhere?

Matty went over to Perth to play with the East Perth Royals but did a knee and required a reconstruction not long after he commenced training and he has never got back into it really. He played a quarter of footy out in the wheat belt in 2006 and from all accounts had the turning circle of a frieght train. Its a shame cause Matty was a quality player that Corowa supporters loved to watch and the opposition supporters loved to hate.

He done his knee and missed a year and then went over to Perth. He got back into training and did it again. Ispoke to him the other day and his playing days are well and truly over.

Better put Guy "pirate" Chisnall down as a certain starter 2!! Toughest 5ft 8" footballer going around

Ok, had about enough of this! I am not responding to you Precursor so do not feel the need to respond to me. This is to all the big footy users, I am begging of you to follow my lead as of this post. Every time someone replys to Precursor it gives him an opportunity to get on here (and without trying to predict what people are thinking) write stuff that no one cares about. So my proposal to all big footy users is to stop replying to his posts from now onwards. So we can discuss (regardless of what he defines a chat room to be) stuff about football because he is clearly trying to play us for fools and has no interest what-so-ever in football. Without trying to sound desperate, I beg of you again regardless of what he comes up with do not (as much as some of us might want to get onto this thread and bag this FREAK out) respond to him. Because, I know that I do! We need to fight the urge to not express the sad truth that this lonley individual clearly has no life:( outside of the internet. Big Footy users please don't take me wrong and think I am trying to tell you what to do. I think that this is the only solution for us to get him of this thread so we can continue talking about O & M football

Well, well, well, Roomies, ..... :(

What do we have here? ....

… … Should I, … … or should I not rebut the proposal advocated by a fellow member of BF?

… ... To remain silent would hand vindication to an absurd proposition.

… … To over react would just add fuel to a potential fire.

… … A quandary has beset me, … … rights are at stake and from my perspective, … this requires a strong but respectful defence.

… … To not defend my rights would encourage those that would trample the freedom of speech to be damaged, …. Thereafter anyone that were to put forward an alternate argument to that of a “Dominate Minority” would be marginalised, maligned or bullied into withdrawing from debates that would contend opposing opinions.

… … Democracy would be replaced by censorship, … … mob pressure overriding free thought. This is a right that must be defended, … no matter the disingenuous sensitivities of the one that protests about me.

… … As I've already said, ... I'm not here a upset a soul. I trust that I’ve been respectful, … and I give the undertaking that I shall continue in that fashion.

I am bewildered by our friend’s offence, … somehow found in my reply to him, … … as no offence was implied or intended.

… I’m stunned that it was he that elected to openly engage with me when he clearly had choice to do so, … … or just ignore me altogether. Our friend’s posting was achieved by his own hand alone. … … In turn it was respectfully answered. … ... The same cannot be said for the manner of their 1st posting to me I might suggest. … … I could conclude it attempted to address me in a superior tone. …. It was an attempt to be clever, ... … smart acre and dominant, … … with its only apparent purpose to silence or deter me (a fellow member) from participation in this very open and democratic chat room. Then came our friend’s 2nd posting. … … That is nothing short of hostile and designed to denigrate a member’s (me) freedoms of speech, … … (a call to arms so to speak), … … for mob rule and collective shunning and isolation.

… … And, … … just because he would recommend it to all others?

… … It would appear that our fellow roomie thinks I don't have an interest in the AFL code or O&M, … but nothing could be further from the truth.

… … Every word I've posted thus far is truthful and I do support an AFL division elsewhere with my hard earned funds, … … making significant yearly contributions for no other purpose than seeing it grow in strength in a region dominated by Rugby League.

… … I have a personal interest in O&M and that is not for open disclosure and our friend has no right to learn my reasons, …. nor is he in a position to judge me one way or another. …. Yet our friend would elect to encourage others to rally against me, … … treat my presents as a threat or some form of challenge to the rest of you, … … to encourage each of you to treat me with distain and spite, … … rather than simply ignoring me and not engaging with me, … … if that happens to be your individual choice.

… … Again from my perspective, … … that might not even be lawful, … it without doubt, and at best, … immoral, … and if it were to succeed, … would lower the reputation & standing of BF, … … bringing it into disrepute.

... … Don’t forget roomies, … … our friend first elected to posted his reply in open to me. …That was exactly what he chose to do of his own free will. …. In footy terms, … … the analogy could well be described that our friend has been caught for a deliberate “putting the ball over the boundary line” … … yet he would have the crowd become vocal supporting him in having another pinged (me) for his own efforts!

... … Not wishing to be too melodramatic, … I think it important enough to show I see something very different from our fellow roomie in how his call would deride my rights in this place. I shall quote one of the most recognisable quote for libertarians ever written, … … and I’m sure the majority of you will know it, … … but may not have understood it in context with circumstances like the one confronting me, (and you all), … ... right now.

"If you once forfeit the confidence of your fellow citizens, you can never regain their respect and esteem. You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time."

…. Our friend may do well to reflect upon President Abraham Lincoln’s famous quotation. Please remember, ... … it was Abraham Lincoln that stoped the suppressive practice of slavery and stood for the freedom of all men, any colour, race and creed, equally. He paid for it with his life, .. but it changed the world and set the foundation upon which all civilised countries exist to this day.

. … … I feel no less threaten by his call to action of individuals in place against me than in the unacceptable practice of an err long discarded and never to arise again.

… … The move is less than respectful to not only myself, … … but to all persons that support our way of life, … our freedoms to express ourselves, … our rights of existing without fear & prejudice forcing us away.
That is simply Un-Australian. … In my opinion, … it should be rejected with ever fibre of our being.

To address the untrue assertion of our friend that I'm don’t contribute to footy, …. in my defence I reject this outright.

… … I’m posting elsewhere in BF and did invite him or anyone that was interested to surf for those postings at their leisure if they wished to do so.

…. … There was no demand by me, …. … just the invitation and opportunity for the fair minded to balance the propaganda of what could be described as nothing less than the recalcitrant opposition to my existence or towards the rights of others if they would say something our friend doesn’t support or is directly opposed to.

(That’s just suppressive attitude and unflattering for those that are campaigner for it.)

… … As evidence I do indeed participate in BF, ... … I place three recent BF links to other forums I’ve posted at to completely debunk the artificial assertion made against me.

… … I remind my fellow roomies that the first casualty in most adversarial contests (and it becoming apparent to me that is what our friend is turning this into) is often the truth.

… … My observation is that our fellow member appears to wish to have this happen against me, … … and my rights to be a contributor to a wider BF family.

For the fair minded, … … please feel free to use the following links to learn of just a few contributions I’ve made:

http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?t=387046&page=3
http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?t=386808&highlight=precursor&page=2
http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?t=386807

Roomies, …. there are appropriate methods available to all of us that have grounds to report fellow users for abuses, intimidation, sexism, racism, violence or bullying.

… … Those standards are set by BF and, … … via the “Offensive Post Report” function, …… a wayward member can be managed by our Moderators.

… … Upon receiving such a report, … … the Moderators will investigate the offending post and deal with the member in appropriate fashion. … … I would advocate and recommend that if there is evidence in any post of mine of that type of behaviour, … you are all free to report it and I say you should do so without a moment of hesitation.

… … It appears to me that although those mechanisms are here for this purpose, ... there is a personal advocacy by a fellow member to silence & shun me for reasons of their own.

... … Purely from a democratic & libertarian perspective, there are whiskers all over that method. Even though you are advised you’re not being told how to think or act, .... clearly you are.

… … I for one can see that our fellow member is relying on flock mentality and prejudices with the expectation you may not know your own minds and need to be directed to act in a particular manner to vilify me.

… … From my perspective, …. that is more offence to any individual intellect than anything I’ve posted. … … Those of you that don’t what to deal with me, … … and clearly again, … some of you are not. … … However, there are others that are contacting me privately, … … and I’m just fine with that as well. … … They shall never be outed by my doing, … as I fear they too might be ostracised by mere association with me.

… … I’d hate to think what our friend’s position might be if those persons were identified, … … if what he’s sponsoring against me is any indication.

… ... (Let get a rope and hang them all I can hear someone crying from afar!) … JK

…. Seriously roomies, ….. that is how prejudices and vilification begins. … … Fair minded people, …. I suggest this should be of concern for you all.

.... As for the notion that I'm supposed to be treating or taking the forum for fools, … … just look at the depth behind this posting and my respect for your collective intellect. … … I’m not treating any of you disrespectfully and I trust these words will challenge each and everyone of you to think long and hard about a very important set of freedoms.

.... To say I think your fools, …. … that’s nonsensical and simply untrue. … … I'll always be respectful to one and all, .... with the exception to a post that personally denigrated a fellow member in a very distasteful manner. ... … I would hope that any decent individuals would have jumped to the defence of a fellow human being in similar circumstances to the one I saw and react with similar repugnance to personally damaging posts.

If it is the wish of the wider BF membership or its managers (Moderators) that I cease and desist, .... I'll be happy to take that under advisement from them.

… … However, ... the suggestion that is currently being touted is disturbing on a number of levels, … … not the least of which is the flagrant vigilante approach to disenfranchise my participation by group persuasion and the influence of other members who can, … by exercising their own free choice, … … simply ignore my post and never engage me again.

… … It worries me that our fellow member would elect to rally the wider membership to shun me on his say so. I cannot understand what it is about me that he appears threatened by or is personally challenging to him. … I’ve found his posting fluent and cohesive, … so it can’t be on any intellectual grounds, … and I am at a lost to find any other logical reasons that make an ounce of sense.

… …. I suggest it would be unveiled discrimination and heavy handedness if it were supported.

… … It would appear to contravene the notion of a the good old "Aussie Fair Go", … … especially seeing there are two significant options available to each of you.

… … The 1st is to report my postings for contravention of the code of practice laid down for us.

... or the most appropriate,

... … Just ignore me as I has previously suggested to you.

... ... I see Raidrboy is happy with that suggestion, ... and so am I. But I also trust a higher level of thinking will at sometime kick in for the fair minded and it will be recognised I am no threat or trouble maker. ... That is a myth and a term perpetrate to self justify an attitude of negativity, ... ... not associated with a rational thought process in fair mindedness.

… … Once more I wish to say, … … I’m not attempting to upset anyone or disrupt your freedoms.

… You all have choices available to you. I advocate you use them as you each are free to do so.

Respectfully, ... & take care.

Oz …..

Seems pointless post season particularly with Wang's individual and collective success. Would agree however that he is a target for opposition goons.
If Hopper plays on next season perhaps Wang should look at recruiting some stronger bodies to take the pressure off him.

Just wondering if any body can give me a bit of background on Billy Eddis, he has just moved down our way any feedback would be great. Cheers
Very good bloke Billy. Rides Bulls pretty well, he should stick to that because his Football ability is very limited. Made little impression with plenty of oppurtunity at Myrtleford.

Myrtleford to have some big signings - former O&M gun Craig Piazza to be once again the general of the backline. Signed for big bucks too.

Ha what would you no hows farther hood treating you 3hrs is a long way to drive every sat:p

Can anyone confirm that Leigh Mcglynn and Jock Macfarlane have signed on at North Albury yet. Heard they were offered pretty good coin. I know Jock could still get a kick but am unsure about McGlynn... a few years out of the O&M and from all reports he has been in a good paddock.
