Their is no way Jock or Leigh will be heading to North not for next year anyways!!! maybe the in future not sure!!! but even if their bodies don't hold they have got some great footy brains between them and they know what they are talking about when it comes to footy

Jock and Gooba are both well past O&M footy now, You need to get real Kage ! After Gooba's shocking injury last season, there is a snow flakes chance in hell of him returning to the O&M, as for Jock he knows he's best footy is well and truely behind him but he's smart enough to realise that he can still contribute for Walla.
As for Corey Lambert getting the interleague job, what a disgrace ! Ive been told by many from the Hoppers that a C grade netballer could have coached that 2002 side to a premiership. This is just another example of a good player in their day being a shit house coach ! He must be a smooth talker coz i dont know how anyone could make him the boss of the leagues team. So it will be interesting to see how many hoppers players get nominated but not selected for the interleague team next season :thumbsu:

Well the main task has been achieved which is to keep most of the list from last year together. Peter Cristoforo has signed on for another year which is pleasing and Jesse Silver and Steve McIntyre are also going around again. The only real possible loss is Daniel McLaughlin, whilst Peter Taylor has finally packed it in and is going to play back in Cohuna. The club president mentioned Dacca was possibly moving away somewhere next year on presentation night, but Dacca himself didnt look so convinced by this announcement so who knows. Only possible signings I've heard of at this stage are Karl Norman, although speaking to Johnny Mac the other week gave me the impression that he had a few good'uns lined up. I dont think the club is interested in recruiting too heavily ala Wang as the maggies lost a bit of home grown talent due to recruits winning spots over them.

There has been talk of possibly a few boys going out with Occa due to his popularity amongst the lads. Fellas like Tim White who played a game or two out at Nth Wang during byes will probs go out but most of my mates and the talented top age 3rds boys look like they will be staying to play 2's. However knowing Occas ability to coerce people I wouldn't write off the chance of him luring a few more out.

Im not taking a shot at the maggies, just reflecting the opinions of some people at the club who mentioned it to me. As for Caruso and Pasquali, the fact that they were still running around is that they were still able to have an impact at the standard of footy that was being played. Just because of their age doesn't mean that they werent good enough. If there had of been kids who deserved to be playing instead of them two then Im sure they would have been. I could say they same about Carmody and Henry going on, at the ends of their careers but still good enough to warrant a game over some younger lads at the Magpies. Travellers from Rovers - Webb, Cristoforo, McIntyre, Silver, Nige Hill Travellers from Magpies - Trenfield, Pell, Lord, Clarke, Kirby, Hayse, Van Shaik, Cosgriff. Id say the maggies have just a few more.

Not bitter at all. Despite the rivalry between the two clubs I was more than glad to see our mates from across the road win it instead of another team, and Im sure most other Rovers supporters felt the same. And I was disgusted with the treatment that Hoppa got from the Nth Albury thugs as well. Needs to be made clear that I have no ill feeling towards the Maggies, they were deserved winners.

Thunder confirm two signings
Posted Oct 18, 2007 - 13:02 PM

Peel Thunder has signed the older brother of West Coast’s Matt Rosa –Simon Rosa and Brendan Page for the 2008 season.

Rosa, a 25-year-old midfielder has been recruited from the Bendigo Bombers in the VFL. He captained the side and represented Victoria in their 119-point belting of WA earlier this year.

Page, 23, is a ruckman/key forward who has been recruited from Ovens and Murray League Club Lavington in North-East Victoria.

Peel Football Manager Steve Ashton also said the club was close to securing a colt’s coach after keen interest from local and east coast applicants.

Thought Page was lucky to be picked up...the two times we played Lavy he was ordinary. Speaking to a few Lavy people and they were saying that peel was rapt with his early season form, which subsequently got him an interleague position. Makes it even harder for Lavy next year, no Doherty or Page to ruck, and also loose the height and service of thier coach. Not sure about there list or who they are recruiting. Have they got any other height in the team ?And have they got any up-and-coming players that might take the next step up next season ?

Nah Mick doesn't pull on the boots competitively any more as he is an assistant coach at the Rovers, but he is still pretty active at training and plays a part in pre season work which he outdoes a fair few of the boys in. Super fit and could probably still get a few kicks if he played.

Jon gets that sort of treatment every week, he deals with it as good players do. By continuing to get up and get kicks at will. Good players deserve extra attention and the way the Magpies have sooked about it has taken a bit of gloss off their premiership. Why the O&M investigated it is behond me. Its a Joke. Maybe they want all the players in skirts next year.

Young Hop would be embarrassed at all the fuss. Simply a gun ball player who holds his head over the footy in the heaviest of traffic, racks up possessions and never complains about the hits.
All the goons who tried to take him out this year might want to have a look at his premiership and Morris Medal. If they fancy themselves as hard men there is an open invitation to pop down the Hume and chance their arm in the NFL (Diamond Valley).

Have been looking on the GV forum and it looks as if two young brothers from yarra could be heading to either Echuca or Shepp swans next year, and maybe one of there key forwards could follow.

Is this the beginning of a big clean out at yarra, with the two rudd's and bourke already going back to cobram, and hargraves linked to nathalia, plus wild retieing, it leaves some empty spots, in a once strong side.

Has anyone heard of any other players leaving pigeon land?

Yeah i agree with you Bob31 that good players deserve extra attention but getting whacked behind play most weeks generally by blokes bigger than him isn't what i would call 'tagging'.
The O and M shouldn't have had to investigate the grand final incidents because the umpires should have reported both Leslie and Godde on the spot

Class above in a very ordinary team, would have been interesting had he had some more support, and if he recovers well enough and gets more support could be the elite player of the comp.

You would think he will everything by the book and get himself 100% before he returns. Season starts early April or thereabouts and that will be about 10months since he did his knee.

What are everyone’s opinions on recruiting non-local players?.. does every team now have to match each other with non-local players to be strong in the league.. and would we find that we will slowly start to see a lot more non local players in every team?

Not sure about the Word on the Vine but apparently Maggies have signed two more top shelf players for next season and all of the side from this year has re-committed for a tilt at back-to-back

Obviously any team in any league has to have non-local player or recruits, this has to be done to remain competitive. But, dont underestimate how vital the locals are to the make up of any team. Look at Wang's team this year, those locals in that team were crucial in the end. I dont think that there is an increase in recruits it is more about how much they are spending on these guys.

the only reason locals dont stay around is cause they get treated like crap by the club, the club goes and spends all their money on these so called superstars, who turn up to the club get a free ride for the year and dont give a sh*t about anything but the money. This means the locals get annoyed and leave and do the exact same thing in a lower quality league where they are the ones getting the money.

Correct via Carlton Rookie List via Calder. Tore it up GF day 2004 with around 40 touches against the Ranges, will be a great pick up for the Magpies. Maybe tough to break into the midfield nex year

Hooper couldn't hold down a spot in a side that finished bottom by a long way (west adelaide), think he won the two's B & F, hopefully the magggies haven't offered him to much, might be dissapointed!

he won the 2's best and fairest at Bullants the previous year.
When you take that the guys who played at Wang this year played mostly 2's at Bullants, if he was as handy as those guys he must be reasonable

i think you'll find hes got around 50 snr vfl games under his belt as well, so i wouldnt think wang would be to dissapointed with that, espceially when u look at ed clarke who had around 10 vfl games under his belt then absolutely dominated gf day...

Spot on there Bodi, anyone who wins a 2nds B&F at a state level such as VFL & SANFL comp will carve it up in the omfl. I find it hard to understand why people constantly critisise players coming down from a higher level which is clearly better than O&M.

This is one of the problems with AFL/VFL affiliated clubs - the AFL club dictates who plays and quality "local" players often miss out on games not through lack of ability.

Thats exactly right Half Time, this bloke could easily do the dirty on wang at the end of the 08' season, so they shouldnt go penciling anyone in for 09' yet. Is their a similarity starting to appear at wang that was similar to the yarra side of 07. In 06' yarra was a champion team, in 07' they thought they were a team of champions, and what resulted was personality clashes and a massive blame game after a loss, which ultimately lead to their demise. Now the yarra side of 08' will be largely different from the outfit from this year (possibly to do with Snout's appointment). The same thing could easily happen to wang, so I wouldnt be prepared to back them yet as the team to beat in 08' !

It was great to see those two guys get off last night. Should never have gotten that far. Maybe next time Wang might be happy winning the Premiership and leave it at that, instead of embarrassing themselves by making a mountain out of a mole hill.

All i can say is that those boys can get off with their cheap actions of GF day, they should expect the same treatment when they play Wang next season!

after watching the granny i agree there will be fireworks come round 1 in 08...what was really noticeable i thought whilst watching the game was the bloke in yellow boots (goode) would continuosly start fights and run away with his tail b/w his legs. needs to take a leaf outta his teammates book (mackie) if ur gonna start something u gotta back it up and not run the other way...

Wake up last i checked it was a contact sport. What did Wang think was going to happen they were just gonna let him run around and get 40 touches. Nothing wrong with a bit of physical action weather it was fair or not who cares it creatd interest in an otherwise boring game. If i was a coach and i knew the best player from the opposition was coming back after breaking a collarbone and could still be suspect i'd be asking my players to test it too. but in hindsight Wang won the flag fair and square and should have left it at that. Carrying on a month or 2 after the game makes them look like a bunch for sore winners or sooks take your pick. Be happy with the silverwear and get on with life the bloke was still vertical at the end of the game no one died GET OVER IT!!!

Looks like the North Albury Cycle™ is going to kick in again. Save up some coin for a year or so, go all out and try and buy a flag, then the next year experience a mass exodus. Some of the players which look like they're going to be playing elsewhere next year, some allready confirmed:

Prior, Hilton, Mackie, Piltz, H Murray, R Murray, McLoughlan and Nichol.

Some quality there. Ouch.

Apart from prior is any of them going to clubs within the O&M?
