Panthers over 'Dogs.
Yarra to beat Albury
Mountain Men over Corowa
North to beat Raiders
Rovers over Magpies.

The comp this year is as even as I've seen it for a while, everyone in the top five can beat each other and the bottom five are giving them a red-hot run for their money.

Just shows how little you know and you would probably want to get a new source to get your info off, cause the source that your getting your info off at the moment stinks.....I think you'll find you and your source a way off.

I can't see why anyone from myrt, or any other club would, want to go and play for bunch of green and gold (worst jumpers in the comp by a very long way) parrots like nth albury, and who would want to say that they play for a team called "the hoppers". That whole club wreaks of uglyness.

I don't know why you are getting your back up so much Mongoose, just shows you must be pretty worried Hoggy might be flying the coop.
My sources are pretty honest, and they're pretty confident he might come back to us next year. And I hope they're right because we need to get rid of Lambert, the young blokes need a change.
I don't think the colour of your jumper or name of your club has much bearing on whether you would play there or not. Your comments just wreak of an un-educated young punk who's best form of defence is to put people down.
Quite pathetic really, and most of your comments suggest this.

Sorry Scope to give you the bad news but i hear a Hodgson has already signed. Dunno why you are bagging out the myrt boys. I think it is good to see them at the top of the ladder and hope they carry on with next year aswell.

I haven't once bagged out the Myrt boys POJ, In fact I think you'll find I actually prasied you guys after watching you beat us in the seniors and reserves at Bunton Park a few weeks ago.
And this might intrest 'In the mix's' comments about locals getting the rough end, becuase we would happily have a handful of the guys they had running around in the 2s that day. They would be walk up starts in our 1s.

probably more disrespectful for people to spread rumors that aren't true and have a crack at the culture of a club they dont know anything about. Easy to put the boot in teams when theyre down.

What's going on at Myrtleford?
That is a really bad loss for them at this time of year, they should be starting to crank it up now?
Will they get B Murray and A Carey back after the bye?
Also noticed S Nightingale, M Murray and B McIntrye all playing reserves and named in best. They'd have to be in Myrt's best side by all reports?
And can anyone tell us people out of the loop what is going on with the coach, is he staying put or heading back over here on the Border?

Here are mine:
Rovers by 8 points over magpies

Massive win by the Rovers...112 points - Cristoforo booted 8 & A.Hill kicked 6,but it was the amasing accuracy the rovers had - 32.5.197! not to mention a 21 goal 2nd half!

"Yarra have twice as many melbourne blokes and It would be interesting to know their connection to the town."

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
There are 10 players travelling from Melbourne to play for Myrtleford each week. Bunn, McKee, Fitzpatrick, Cartwright, Bourke, McNamara, T.Purss, Brown, Watson, Peters.
interesting you can say that with obviously little or no knowledge on the club at all. A large number of players are locals and have played all their junior footy with the club; Craig Ednie, Luke Hammond, Tyler Bonat, Matt Grinter, Marc Lonergan, Dean Bigger, Xavier Leslie, Bernard Price, Ross Mulquiney... majority of the others live and work in the town e.g. Tim Hargreaves, Jason Wild, Dallas Gallagher, Matt Wollington, Nick O'Bryan, Paul Banch, Simon Rudd, Marcus McMillian... The only couple of names that come to mind with no real connection to the club are Lawrence Furlan and Rick James. 20 blokes from melbourne is a huge exageration don't you think?

Two weeks for swearing at a Boundary umpire. Its abit sus when the Boundary umpire is from Corowa (Kade Kuschert's sister). She should not be able to umpire her own team. Two weeks is a little bit harsh i think.

A Carey will definitely be back after the bye and B Murray is also a good chance. B McIntyre will probably get the call up as the suspended T Purss was the back up ruckman. S Nightingale and M Murray would also both have to be very close to a recall however I doubt there will be five changes.

If the umpire is Kade Kuscherts sister then that is a disgrace! Under no cicumstances should she be allowed to umpire Corowa! Its not her fault it is the responsibilty of the O&M and would make you very sus when Corowa receive several free kicks at centre bounces given by her when the game is up for grabs!!!!!

Spot on Jack. You have the league trying to appear professional in its severe punishment of a minor misdemeanour, but failing to operate professionally, being unable to carry out the simple task of allocating impartial umpires. T Purss has got the rough end of an O&M error.

Might have been some contentious decisions, but you can take nothing away from Corowa. They were very hard at it all day and deserved their win. Old Nickelback Ambrose decided to show up on Saturday and had another great day.

no it wasnt, i cant comment on how the tribunal came to their decision

any other umpire would have laid the same report if something was directed at them!!

Pull your head POJ, you are a tool.

If she couldn't do the local game, she wouldn't do it at all & neither would others who had to travel uneccessarily.

if that happens the o&m would ask home teams to supply all officials for the respective games. then your back to the start again.

If you pr**ks would just stop moaning about how hard done by you always are, then there wouldn't be a problem.

As for tristan, got what he deserved... i'm waiting to see whether the myrt crew gather $25k and take it to the appeals board like the murray case 06.

Murray should have got 3-4 for smacking bridges in 06, he ended up getting his punishment a few weeks later when his man was named BOG in their heart breaking loss.

D. Leslie copped a similar suspension for the same thing earlier in the year, he's over it.
tristan needs realise he stuffed up and get over it too, and more importantly so do you.

I have a proposal to increase crowds, popularity, player payments, and standard in all state league clubs. Think of a world cup format competition held every 2 years with clubs qualifying depending on their respective ladder placement.

top 10 from VFL

top 6 from SANFL

top 6 from WAFL

top 4 from AFLQ

top 3 from NSW/ACT

top 2 from Tasmania

top 1 from NTFL

This makes up 32 teams. top 8 clubs are seeded into separate groups. AFL could provide money to set up and prizemoney to clubs.

ALL leagues could finish 4-5 weeks earlier to fit into this tournament.
All games played in the one area like soccer world cup. crowds would be big. huge interest.

it is battle of best teams outside afl.

to qualify, players must play minimum 4 games throughtout the season for the clunb (including AFL listed players)

what does everyone think?

Yeah hang on lads, the umpire didn't give him two weeks, she reported him.

As mentioned earlier, Dan Leslie got suspended for a similar offence, so I see no issues with consistency.

Bringing in the umpire's family ties and/or gender is unequivocally irrelevant.

Not really, it just seems that they are the only club the gets much attention in the media (which i know you can't control) and on this forum, so i happily comment on it. i'd be more than happy to get my claws into any of the others.

To be honest i'm happy for the saints to be doing well, it's a huge effort considering the size of the town, full credit to the club and the community. Obviously it's a very well run club and a lot of people do their bit to make it work, hats off!

But i do have something against, whinging and unreasonable people like yourself, who can put as much sh*t on here as they please and not be questioned about their agenda.
I think that's where you've got things mixed up!

lets worry bout july and august before september enters our minds!;)

Good luck with all that, obviously you have had plenty of time to think about such an event. I just wanna be in the room when you gather all necessary parties together and explain how all this works. Once again good luck!

I will stick up for the Hoppers a bit this year.
They had ****e year in 2005, granted, but they set about rectifying the situation pretty well.
They got Dan Leslie back from Perth and also signed his mate Kurt Niklaus, but he bailed on the eve of the season in a rotten stroke of luck.
Niklaus will play for Vic Country this weekend so he can obviously play.
Sam Nevins, who rucked last year and finished top three in the b and f, was also set to stay until he received a second round uni placement in Melb which left the Hoppers without a No.1 ruckman as well before round one.
They signed a full-forward Tony Pierri who was on fire until he broke his wrist about six weeks ago when they were looming up as a finals chance after a slow start to the year.
Joel Mackie, one of their best players, a midfielder, also did his knee so bad it needs a reco about round four.
Clint Gilson, who was also going to be a regular senior player, has also undergone a knee reco.
Also Adam Prior was set to stay at Hopper Park until he got taken with the very last pick in the pre-season draft.
Imagine a goal-to-goal line of Aydan Brown, Mark Hilton, Joel Mackie, Adam Prior or Dan Leslie at CHF, Pierri and a first ruck division of Nevins, Niklaus and Bush.
Definite finals material in my eyes.
Corey Lambert can't be held responsible for so many bad breaks before and during the year.

I was not bagging Nth Albury i was just saying that they had the perfect opportunity to sign T.Hodgson when Lambert retired from playing but they chose to let him and some other senior players go.If they were so keen to keep Hodgson then why did this happen?I believe at the time of Lamberts retirement Nth stated that they would prefer a playing coach! Is this correct Harsh but Fair?

26 Jul 2006, 16:52
I can't recall North Albury making the blanket statement they would prefer a playing coach when in fact they re-appointed Corey as a non-playing coach.
Wouldn't make any sense.
Travis Hodgson was red-hot to coach at the end of 2004 when North Albury made the grand final under Corey.
Corey couldn't do much more than make a grand final in 2004 because Wodonga was a special to win it given the players they acquired after losing the grand final the previous year.
Corey deserved another go so Travis had to look elsewhere.
Brent Piltz needed a change because his footy was getting stale at North Albury and is playing some of his best footy as a defender which is not a position he played at North Albury because of the presence of Brown and Hilton.
He was an obvious recruiting target for Travis and he headed to the hills as well.
Corey and Simon McCormick had a major parting of the ways at the end of 2003.
Simon never said the reason for his defection to Wodonga was the fallout with Corey, but everyone knew it was the case.

who are you ITM to be throwing around comments like this? after ppl have said lets forget this topic. just coz some people like to voice their opinion and defend their fellow members, what is wrong with that?

on to proper issues, can the panthers do it again this year? could they challenge the current front runners that no one else can seem to look past myrtleford and yarra? or maybe if albury can manage to string together 4 quarters regularly, they might challenge the top teams? what are everyone else's thoughts?

I think anyone in the top five could take it out this year if they hit top form at the right time, but based on current form Yarra are clear favourites. On top of the ladder with only one narrow loss for the year and they don't look like dropping another one. When challenged by a good side in Albury last week they stepped up and won comfortably. Plus the top five system, which is probably the best finals system in my opinion, rewards the side finishing on top by giving them the easiest path to the big one.

I think that all teams in the top five are capable of beating each other. Obviously Yarrawonga and Myrtleford are the front runners at the moment being in 1st and 2nd on the ladder. Lavington always seem to fire in september and most teams will be keeping an eye on them as the year goes on. Albury as you say are very capable of beating any side if they can string 4 quarters together. Wodonga can also win on any day but my opinion is they won't go further than their third place at the moment.
