I reckon the only person who has lost respect on this board would be yourself 'HelMie', clearly your views are outdated.

Im not a homophobe by any means, but i still object to seeing sodomy being graphically depicted on television. Does that make me a bad person? I dont think so.

And from what ive seen of Queer As Folk, it doesnt exactly debunk the stereotype that all gay men are promiscuous, sex obsessed, reckless, AIDs cases waiting to happen.

Valid points there Unit, but there is a market out there for "Gay" related TV, and I guess people are not forced to watch it, it's their choice, and I choose to do so.

As long as you practice safe sex, you can sleep with as many guys as you want

Yes it does, especially seeing as you watch the show, you don't think should be allowed on TV.

I think there's a closet about to open.

You are a pathetic creature Mantis you really are. I said i object to sodomy being shown on television, not homosexuality.

I find homosexual sex quite gross myself, and from tiem to time I have to turn away watching this show - doesn't change the fact it's a good show though

So the point of your post was? Do you object to the show or not? If you do, then why do you watch it?

I think i'm like most people these days.

Got nothing against homosexuals. Know a few - nice people. But the thought of gay butt sex is really quite gross and I owuldn't voluntarily watch a show that displays it.

See I agree in some ways, but as far as watching the show, nothing stops me from looking away for 30 seconds - it isn't overly graphic really anyway.

Definitely no worse than watching Oz. And Oz is also a top show.

Exactly, i watch it as it is pretty much just a soapie with decent production values and scripts, but it just doesnt need to show graphic depictions of sodomy. That is just filth. Didnt they have that Brian guy ******** that Justin guy when he was like 16 or something???

Look you have every right not to like it, I personally don't like hte graphic scenes either.

But I just look away. That's it.

Quick question, do you actually like the show?

Also, I hate censorship pretty much in all forms, I like the idea of artists being free to do whatever they want - now even if only 0.1% of the population enjoys it, it's not like they're hurting the other 99.9% anyway.

Many violent moveis I watch and enjoy get the same criticism, and I just think it's hypocritical for me to attack one graphic depiction and not another. so I don't do it.

That is just filth...I tried watching a couple of episodes, but I just couldn't get past the... erm... gayness of it all. Watching men kiss and/or simulate **************** makes me physically ill, so I gave up on it pretty quickly. That said, I don't particularly care whether it's on the air or not; it's just not my cup of tea at all.

I actually like watching Oz and seem to be able to tolerate the "gay portions" of the show (there's something slightly freaky about watching Law & Order's Stabler engaging in homosexual acts). I suspect it may be because Oz isn't exclusively about gay people.

Why would that matter? Or are you against gay males but not gay females?

I have watched this show as well as *The L word* I think it's called. Surprised there aren't more lesbian shows around.

Not that I am one for the record (just because everyone is compelled to state their preference) I have no qualms with either.

It's funny that this one is allowed or is staying yet the female version is not on. Hmmm
