Went down to training a couple of days ago as i was close by and thught id just post some random points

- Matt Rosa was the one who really stood out to me, he was really working hard, looks like he has already put on muscle. Dont be shocked to see him playing Round 1 2006. I spent alot of time watching him cos he looked really good, damn he looks so similiar to Embley tho

- Mark Le Cras has put on a bit of muscle but is stil quite skinny, atleast he is on the right track

- Im fairly sure Shannon Hurn was there, didnt get a good look as he was on the other side of the oval and spent a fair bit of time talking to Tony Micale

- Brad Smith is huge and was the other player that really stood out, he has actually lost some muscle, at one point it was a bit ridiculous, its hard to appreciate just how quick he is off the lead, he was burning everyone by a good 5m most of the time and I can only recall one spoil from Adam Hunter which was probably a free kick for over the shoulder

- Waters and Butler both must be good mates which bodes well to keeping them for a long time, both looked in great touch, especially Butler, surprising as it seems Butler may play as an attacking HBF... just the vibe i picked up. Waters has trimmed down a little bit but he seemed to be moving fairly well and is on the improve, took some good marks against Chick.

- Expect Hunter to stay in defence

- Gaspar seems to be moving more freely and a bit more faster, he cudnt of moved much slower tho, looks as if he is spending most of his time getting faster and improving his fitness.

- Gardiner and Lynch still arnt doing much, both looked to off trimmed down a little bit

- Cox Cousins Judd Embley were there typical brilliant selfs

- Sampi looks the same, hasnt lost nor gained weight

- No Braun, still doing rehad i guess

- McDougall is still recovering from shoulder surgery

- Morton has to work a bit harder, doesnt look like he has put on any muscle and looks to have a bad attitude

- Also looks as if Stenglein had some minor foot surgery, no secret it was troubling him a bit, must of just had a cleanup, he still trained a bit tho not as much as the rest

Everyone else seems to be doing quite good, only two disappointments were Morton and Sampi (i guess he can be excused due to injury for now). I might try and get down in a month or so time. Good to see that some unknown faces are the ones who really seemed to be stepping it up a notch.

Another small note, someone there watchin training was telling me Hurn is most likely gonna have West Perth as his WAFL team, read into that what you like.

THe players are allocated through a draft between the WAFL clubs. I dont know where West Perth came this year but they didnt finish last so Hurn wont be confirmed as theirs just yet. I would imagine Shannon's SANFL experience would make him a good chance to be the first player taken, which would mean he is off to the Sharks (who finished last) or possibly Peel (finished 2nd last).

Anyway, good report Embers. I will get down sometime next week and have a look. Especially at the draftees.

Nice report there Embers.....

If I were a bloke, I would've barred up when reading what you said about Smith, but, alas, I am a chick, so no barring activity.

I'm located in Pricktoria, so we never hear anything over here. Keep the news coming!!!!

I agree he'll probably be first taken... but East Freo finished 7th not last, so Hurn may well be off down to Peel.

Ladder After Round 23 (Sat, 27 Aug 2005)

1 Subiaco 72
2 South Fremantle 68
3 Claremont 56
4 Swan Districts 48

5 West Perth 44
6 East Perth 24
7 East Fremantle 24
8 Perth 12
9 Peel Thunder 12

The only thing that may happen that sees Hurn at the Cardies - and I'm not sure on this - is that Adam Campbell from Freo is likely to move from West Perth to Perth, so perhaps the Joondies may get first pick as compensation for losing Campbell. If that's the case, Hurn may be headed to the Northern Arena... and poor old Drummy will likely get taken second and be off to the far Southern reaches.

This must have been before the accident because Waters hasn't been at training since.

As I was writing that post...I couldnt remember if the Sharks did come last or not. I just had a feeling...obviously I was wrong :thumbsd:

That scenario of WP losing Campbell is conceivable and would explain the bloke saying Hurn is off to the Falcons. Either way, Peel treated Matt Rosa very well this year after I was sceptical, I imagine Shannon would play some good WAFL footy down there aswell.

I would say Mitch would have the best work ethic out of the three, not taking anything away from Jarryd who worked very hard in 2005 with Claremont Colts...

Its going to take a long period of time for all of them to bulk up and put muscle on, especially Cale

I would say the three boys have very similar attitudes on and off the field, and I don't think Mitch has changed that much over the past 12 months(since being drafted), so perhaps they all are lacking Embers requirements

I dont know if Mitch's problem is his work ethic as such, I think its more his overflowing confidence in himself which needs to be addressed. I hope he learnt from last year and know that he wont get a free ride (which I think he believed to an extent).

Morton hasnt trained for a while because of tonsilitis...so would of been the reason why not really excelling.

Waters and Butler lived together up until this year

Don't worry TOA, with the mighty Bulldogs winning the premiership, I would have let the entire world know if the Gummies has finished last.

That notion would make me a very, very happy man ;)

I think Beau moved into his own gafe this year.

A group of young eagles live about 5min from my house in Subi. I see them reasonably often, I just dont know which of the fellas live there. I have seen Hansen, Butler, Waters, Wilkes, Rosa and Nicoski (among others) over the past year. I have a feeling that Hansen might live there possibly with Sammy Butler.

I know that Wirrpunda lives a block away from me and i was pretty sure samps used to live there as i saw them pretty often. i used to go outside a couple of hours before game day and see wirra, samps and sometimes hansen in their suits. They all seem to live fairly close to subi as i am neer leederville. I am pretty sure cox and judd live near by to
