26. Richard Douglas - Considering he has been labeled as a bit of a tough nut, the number is somewhat fitting
19. Darren Pfeiffer
28. Bernie Vince
1. Alan Obst
6. Jonathon Griffin

Hopefully Mathew Smith hasnt left any resemblance of his footballing talent on the Number 1 Jumper.

Obst gave me a real scare when I saw him kicking standing still. Probably hit one in ten and thats being generous. Was relieved to see him kick a lot better on the run but he sure needs work. Great mark and athletic though.

What's so surprising about Obst wearing #1?

They should retire it:)

No one. They should burn #1 jumper ;)
#1 has been cursed since Anderson and #6 since Mods! However statistical probability tells us that sooner or later these numbers have to start producing some decent players!
Sadly it seems another year has passed without a 114, my one time number!:p
Who would you prefer to wear #1 then?
No one
Put the number # 1 jumper out for prosperity as Mathew Smith gave it such a legacy that shall never be forgotten……for a very, very long time. :D

Yep, it should be retired - and draped on a bust of David Gallagher for footy arts sake, with the whole package bearing a plaque "The complete dud" :)

#1 has been cursed since Anderson an!
third time lucky........
I feel for Obst. I wouldnt like to wear that no. at the best of times (would make me feel superior):)
Spose he couldnt get worst then Smith??:o

He didn't exactly have a great choice of numbers either. By the time Douglas, Pfeiffer, Vince and Griffin took theirs, Obst was left with #1 (Matthew Smith  ) or #31 (Ben Marsh  )
Not much of a choice there.
Numbers 1 (Matthew Smith), 31 (Ben Marsh) and 38 (David Gallagher) should be banned for ever. I guess Obst and Hinge are doomed :p

And the irony continues
Same draft number (48), same playing number (1), Same amount of AFL games (0 :D) and same playing position (CHB) (enter twilight zone music)
But Obst can hold his own and will get a game unlike Mr Smith.

I suspect Hinge is waiting till next year when number 3 and 4 are available.

It could go the other way
Poor Travis Varcoe has been offered the Geelong number # 5 and has to try and follow in Graham “Polly” Farmer and Gary Ablett foot steps
What would be more daunting Smith, Gallagher and Marsh or Polly Farmer and Gary Ablett? Something is telling me to take the challenge to rid the AFC of the cursed jumper and wear the #1 or #31
Both ends of the football spectrum.

In other words which ever way you look at it, we are screwed and Obst is crap :p
There are more similarities. The 2000 Draft and 2005 draft were both rated as weak but even drafts

Lucky he plays for Centrals not Sturt. Curse broken. :D
If he was at Port he would be captain ;)
If he was at Port he would be captain ;)
That was our problem
At the Crows every supporter hated the player who wore # 1 (smith), at the Power ever player hates the new guy who has #1 on his back.

While #1 has been crap for us, I think it would be harsh to have Crowell (and Anderson, of course) in the same category as our other #1's.
look its easy we dont put numbers on there back we put gps trackers on them all instead of just mattner and the odd other and fit out aami with computers by each seat so we can follow them that way:thumbsu:
no wait up bad idea as with plenty other techknowledgy advances we've introduced the afl will ban it :thumbsd:

They could put a decimal point after it and put another number after that. ;)

Douglas in 26. I like it:p

31 also graced Tom Gilligan, and Josh Kruger in a pre-season photo or 2 (it's not like he ever threatened to get out on the field and wear it); and 38 spent some time on Jacob Schuback.
Not a whole lot of good karma there.

Yeah, but 26 at least had 13 stellar seasons on Mark Bickley's back. 38 has maybe had 13 good minutes in the history of the Crows.

i would give it one good game... the one where gallagher got his rising star nomination that would be about it.
5 for 19 are pretty good figures;)
