Adelaide under Tredrea's skin
By ANDREW CAPEL
06dec05

IT is 114 days until the start of the 2006 AFL premiership season but Adelaide already is getting under Port Adelaide's skin.

As the Power started its pre-season training camp at Caloundra in Queensland yesterday, new captain Warren Tredrea appeared irked by the kudos given to its bitter hometown rival. And he said suggestions the Crows were the new No. 1 team in town had him "burning inside".

This follows the Crows' excellent 18-win 2005 campaign, which included winning all three Showdowns, and coach Neil Craig's verdict that his players had returned to pre-season training in best-ever condition.

"I actually read that they're the No. 1 team in town and it's taken them one year to take that mantle off us," Tredrea, Port's 2004 premiership skipper, said.

"If anything, little things like that burn inside."

Last season was the first time Adelaide, which finished fourth after winning its first minor premiership, has finished higher than the Power since 2000.

Tredrea said while the Crows were getting most of the off-season recognition, Port was "rapt" with its pre-season work, which moved to the Sunshine Coast yesterday..............

At last; a decent story to remind me of how much I enjoy riling the scum:p
I just hope Tredrea doesnt turn nasty in the media in his role as captain, Chockos bad enough!!

yes its a ego trip but we seriously have been under this clubs skin since 93,so its not news to me,as i rekon i got a good feel about the chip on the shoulder port have towards us,it started with magpie supporters in the 90,s bagging us and then reared its ugly head with port adminstrators and coaches when they started talking about making the finals for the first time inside three years(like we made it) and continues on in present day to some of the rubbish coming out of there mouths
oh and there propaganda from fans and i feel adminstration adds to this

You mean like this...

In 1997 the Port Power Football Club (affectionatly known as the PAPs)
was formed and allowed to join the Australian Football League; after 4 years of festering jealousy preceded by 3 years of clandestine back stabbing.... Today it maintains two hats, making up the numbers in the SANFL through the Port Adelaide Magpies Football Club estd 1870 34 SANFL flags (VFL equivalent LOL:p ) and as the new kid on the block in the AFL:D

You mean it doesn't dangle out of your trouser leg and thus get cold in winter?

Isn't that what the socks are for?
