Australia cruising at 0/71 off 17.1 overs.

Hayden 56
Langer 11

Hayden has just hit Vettori for 6 off his first ball of the series....ominous start against their best bowler!

How close was the Langer LBW? Can't see it work but he must have been lucky.

I've been busy all morning so I just checked the scores then....bloody hell!!! And NZ decided to field! What's the pitch like....typical Gabba wicket with a hint of green?

Anyway, Hayden looks set for a massive score....let's hope he goes on with it.

Keep us posted...can't get the live audio thing happening thanks to our network being stuffed at the moment.

bloody hell !

I gives me te ****s that the ACB won't let the ABC stream their commentry again this year. Who wants to listen to the Ch9 team over the net - I don't want to listen to tem on the telly !

Really - how much does the deal net the ACB....the audio bit would be bugger all and now we have to listen to that drivel....when it works.

0/199 (55.1 overs). Hayden 120n.o, Langer 72n.o.

Geez, I hope Kiwis get a move on. I'd find it really boring if Australia dominated the entire series the way they have the first two sessions.

Do I sense a little complacent batting today by the middle order?

Has anyone seen the wickets? Were they good balls or bad shots?

6/285 with 5 overs to go in the day.

Sweet. This match is going to be great. Sounds like the Kiwis really did their homework on this one.. knew just how to bowl to specific guys.

We should be able to get to maybe 330, 350ish... bring it on.

Messrs McGrath, Lee, Gillespie and Warne are warming up as we speak.

Bowling Macca.

Looking at the rolly polly physique of yours it looks like you certainly wintered very well.

And congrats to Fleming. After watching 63 overs of pie chucking he had the vision to go to Plan B, set great fields and let the Australian's get themselves out.

A five-for for Macca tomorrow?

We'll make more than 400. Gilly bats well with the lower order, and they can all hold their own. Why can't Warne make runs for Victoria? What's the matter with him?

And what's the story with Langer? How many times has he prodded and poked at the start of an innings, given a chance or survived a huge appeal, and gone on to scratch out a century? The man is truly blessed.

I guess it all hinges on how well the NZ bats can cope with our bowling. I rate McGrath - in fact he could probably polish off nost of them by himself. Gillespie could rip through them (though right now I still wouldn't rely on that). Warne saves his best for the tests.

From what I saw at work, most of them were bad shots, Hayden and Langer on the boundary pulling, Ponting ordinary shot, straight up in the air caught behind gully/point, Martyn didn't get over a cut shot, caught at deep point.

The only 2 that got out to good balls were the Waugh bros. The middle order must have thought it was going to be too easy after watching Hayden and Langer bat. Although it should have been 1 for 0, Langer was plum. The ump must have had his eyes shut for that one. He must have been like an old-time English umpire who once said after he turned an appeal down, 'I need a few balls to get my eye in, too' :D

Well looks like it will make the 4th day anyway. Crucial session this morning...Australia has to get close to 400, as this pitch looks to be a bit of a road.

Disappointing collapse last night...still, it's very hard to dominate 3 sessions in a day. But it's usually the opposition who crumble in the final session of the day.

Well by the looks of this rain - which is forcast again for tomorrow - victory may be rather difficult

It could of been an entirely different story if Langer was given out LBW in the first over. Still, he's been unlucky quite a few times in the past, so It's good from his perspective that he got one back!

Top knock by Langer and Hayden in front of his home crowd! Ponting wasn't too good (lets hope It wont be a repeat of India for him), Mark Waugh looked out of place and Steve Waugh looked very rusty.

C'mon Brisbane - whats with the poor weather? Should the ACB consider giving Perth or Hobart the first test as a trial, because Brisbane had rain in an opening test match a few years back if memory serves correct.

LOL Stucey. I could have said 'caught on the boundary pulling' butthat would have read even worse!!!

NZ- 3/51 Gillespie 3/17

Only just switched over and Dizzy was on a hat-trick. Showed some highlights and he looked to be bowling very, very quick. If the Aussies can keep the pressure on, there still could be result yet, despite all the rain.

Fine weather forecast for the last day. 15 wickets needed. Can we do it?

It looks like NZs middle and lower order are better than their top order. Tough ask, but it can be done if they have to follow on.
