Clarke's arm has to be right up there with the very best
Never seen someone who pings the stumps as often as he does, he hits them more often than Jonty or Punter.
And his throwing from the outfield or infield is tremandous as well, accuracy + power.
Symonds probably has a better outfield throw, but in terms of pinging the stumps, Pup is the best in the world. What a throw that was, that turned the game on its head.
There were a few throws from the Outfield to the stumps from Memory. McGrath has a pretty strong arm as noted in past matches.

Like the powerful throw during the Ashes that threw his back out...
Symonds has the best arm overall from close-in and from the deep (imo).

Punter is a freak when it comes to shots at the stumps. He doesn't do it quite as often now, but back when he was starting out he'd get 1 or 2 runouts every game.

Clarke is probably the best inside the circle, Symonds pretty close. From the deep, you'd have to pick Symonds. Lee and McGrath are up there too from a distance.
Me. Seriously. Gimme a ball and a target and i will hit it.

Clarke is one of the best in the ring at hitting the stumps.
For outfielders, Big Inzi's got a pretty good arm.

Symonds is a better outfield arm, but Pup is a better infield arm.
Watch his throwing every match, you'll notice that when he has a go at the stumps, he more often than not hits them, Ponting used to do that, but not as often as him.
Amazing from someone with such a tiny physique, he actually has a very very powerful arm. He has a beautiful throwing action

Pup is starting to get up there with Punter as the best arm in world cricket ...Symonds isn't too shabby either
on a sidenote . How ordinary was Hodge's attempt at that gimme run out ....woeful

I remember a few direct hits from the deep as well.

Yeah, McGrath has an awesome.
Someone we are forgetting, Long Tom Moody had one of the best arms I ever saw.
Anyone else a fan of Long Tom ?

Long Tom was good but the best from the deep were Dean Jones and Craig Mcdermott.
The best at throwing down the stumps from inside the circle is the great Viv Richards, closley followed by Alan Border and Ricky Ponting.

clarkes is by far and away the best... he has an amaisingly quick release, and gets good distance when he throws
Clarke is one of the best in the ring at hitting the stumps.
For outfielders, Big Inzi's got a pretty good arm.
Unfortunately the batsmen are already on their third run by the time he gets to it though.

For outfielders, Big Inzi's got a pretty good arm.
But it's cancelled out by the fact it takes him five minutes to get the ball.
It is one thing to whip the ball in and have a strong arm, but Clarke and Ponting have both turned matches with run outs. To be so clean under huge pressure is amazing.
Saw the Clarke throw last night and was just awesome. If he had missed, that would of given them an extra run aswell
Symonds, Lee and Clarke easily the best throws in the team but McGrath is a good throw also. Hussey is a great fielder but I don't know about his throwing...

Ian 'The Freak' Harvey could throw pretty damn well. I'll never forget the Aus v India ODI at the G couple of years back. India looked set to win, Gantooly was still there and on about 60-70 odd. Harvey bowls, other batsman plays a straight drive, Ganguly sets off for a run, Harvs picks up the ball, jumps and turns in the air and runs out Ganguly. Crowd went nuts.
Ponting is the best allround throw i have seen , Clarke is getting up there .
But Border for sheer consistancy and hitting when he had too , was just awesome fielding at short mid wicket . The amount of matches he won a match by turning the game with a freakish runout was amazing .
