View Full Version : MICHAEL HUSSEY - the Key?

I think reading from a few threads that, one, Michael Hussey is a very underrated batsman in everyone's eyes...not many of you placed his name in the WC '07 XI thread.

The guy averages somewhere near 130 in int'l 1 dayers & 120 odd in test cricket. He's only 30, & is surely now a key figure heading into the WC & future test series batting at #5. Huss, is the new Michael Bevan, & will be a massive plus for the side at the WC, & his steady influence in the middle order of the test team may turn out to be crucial if Hayden, Langer & Ponting battle against the new ball bowlers against Sth Africa.

Hail the Huss

& for the record...

WC 2007 XI + sub
Gilchrist
Jaques
Ponting
Martyn
Clarke
Symonds
M Hussey
White
Lee
Bracken
McGrath

Sub either Lewis or Voges

I'd like to see any posts from 2005 where Hussey has been omitted from a suggested WC squad.

Sub either Lewis or VogesShaun Tait? Shane Watson?

Those guys are both more likely to be in the 12 than Lewis or Voges?

If they were fit, Watson would probably play ahead of White, while Tait would probably play ahead of Bracken.

If you reckon Hussey is such a superstar, then why do you want him to bat at #7, where he'll be lucky to face 30 deliveries?

He bats at 7 at the moment, simply going from what the selectors & Punter think he should bat, I reckon he should go in ahead of Symonds but after his performance the other day...maybe not.

Re Tait...I can't see the value of having him & Lee in the same side...both great pace, both erratic on occasions. Imagine if Tait & Lee both had off days. Re Watson...I'm over him, his bowling is nothing to get exited about, & with the super sub now, I don't think all rounders need to be carried if there not performing....& b4 u go on, yes, he did play well againts the World XI...but didn't everyone?

& re Huss...read the thread on World XI sides, & u will see my point re Huss being left out...alot opted for his highly overrated brother, David...who I see has again been dropped this week for Victoria.

After Hussey came into the side for the NZ tour in February 2005, his spot in the side has been unquestioned.

You won't find anyone on these boards who doesn't think Hussey will be at the WC.

Hussey should move up the order, he is being wasted down at 6/7.

Very good post by plugga, i agree there and with Drummond too, must be under rated by the captain anyway, no idea why the best ODI batsman in the world is playing at 7.

Where did you see this because i can see in this weeks match D Hussey has scored 86, just missed out on a century.
but Mike Husssey is a gun and should be one of the first to be picked in the WC squad
