The transformation of this guy has been remarkable

Before the WC of 2003 this guy was, i think far to say, a pretty average player at One Day International Level and i think to would be right to say he was mainly selected for his awesome fielding ability rather than any outstanding performances with bat and ball.

However, come the first game of the 2003 World Cup against Pakistan a bell rang inside Andrew Symond's head and from that moment all would be brand new.

Before that first World Cup game symo was averaging a poor 23.81 with the bat.

Now symo is averaging since that world cup game about 47.73.

Ian Harvey pales in comparsion to Andrew Symonds even though i believe Ian Harvey had just as much talent as my man symo.

Also, won't England be spitting chips considering Symo was born in Birmingham in England.

Old news. He has improved his record but still has scored only 3 tons. 2 of them have come at perfect times for him when his spot is being questioned.

I don't think hes improved his temperament much, still as always an extremley nervous starter and you are very likely to get him early but when he does get a good start he will usually go on to play a great innings.

And also I heard he had West Indian blood in him. So could've played for England or Windies but always wanted to play for the Aussies.

not many tons get scored in one day cricket batting at 5 or lower, unless they get the chance to come in and bat before the 15th over or so.

but i do believe the world cup match v the paki's made him come of age. he hasn't looked back since then and has been a permanent one day fixture since.

bevan and s waugh didn't score many tons for australia, and many rate those two as 2 of our greatest odi batsmen.

What i want to know is what changes to make him one of the most useless test batsman i've ever seen?

Great ODI Batsman though.

Not playing his natural game (or not being able to) is what undoes him in Tests.

There's no doubt the 143* was a turning point in his career. He had been around for 5 years without doing much before that, and if it wasn't for that innings he wouldn't be here today, and we would have missed out on some great batting.

He's too worried about building scores in Tests, he might as well go out there and play it like an ODI, its his natural game, let him play it.

That's what Afridi does. (Dancing on the pitch aside)

Hes got the potential to become one of the best all-round cricketers in the world.

He can bat, bowl and how was that almost catch off McCullum, if he'd pulled that one in, it would have been a beauty.

He can bowl? Haha, thats funny. For a bloke who everyone talks up his fielding, he should have held that one

Edward lets just say, Symo is streaks ahead of Vaughan in the field and KP.

PS:- Hodgey played well today.

Most players woudnt have even gotten near that one, but i'm sure he would have thought he should have held it too.

Would have won us the game.

Vaughan is a crap fielder, especially catcher, although is good at hitting the stumps with his throws which has got England quite a lot of wickets.

His ODI batting IS NOT good enough. He would of been dropped a long time ago if it wasn't for the captaincy. Last year he went about 10 innings without reaching 20. I can't say I am at all disapointed he isn't taking part in this series.

Started batting with a brain (Even he said that himself), that's why

Stopped playing big shots early on, got himself in, played the thing on the ground, and go for the tonk when needed

I do love how you compare Australias best fielder to Englands worst, and people complain about my comparisons?:D

Lets just say Pietersen and Vaughan are streets ahead of Soccer Simon in the field

Yeah but untill Katich learns what his hands are for out in the field, he will be behind them :D

It wouldnt have been so bad if it was only once, but he failed and then did it again and failed
