Now, now LtD- let eddie have his delusions- good to see sensible Pom barrackers like Rob aren't put off by the pics. Vaughan's batting continues to be a majopr concern for the English- it ios a good thing that Bell has found some form- helps take the pressure off the skipper when he clearly hasn't been up to it consistently the past 12 months.

Fortunately, he'll have next summer in Pommyland to try and get back on board before coming our way...India will likely be another nightmare for the Yorkshire lad....

Ponting has won everywhere as ODI captain.

It's a bit hard to set a field placing on a field the size of a postage stamp and with bowlers who struggle to realise that if a batsmen is trying to slog them then it is best to bowl yorkers and not back of the length balls.

Ponting is the man.

Neither were at extra cover

1 was at deep cover, 1 was at deep long off, he only had to move the deep ong off to deep extra cover and bang. Australia wins, he and Symonds could also try catching the chances they get as well

Edward, Punter has a 81% winning record in ODI internationals.

You can't argue with that.

Also, under pontings captainicy the only series Australia has lost was the Winter series against Pakistan back in 2002. (Does not include Tournaments such as the World Cup or ICC Knockout)

Michael Vaughan on the other hand has a 59% winning record

Eddie, tell me this,

when a team is 4 for 400

Why does a captain keep bowling his star all-rounder into the dust and his lanky pacemen into his 40th over when they don't even look like getting within a symo six distance of a wicket.

Why do the part-timers get jack all overs when all the front line options have been exhausted.

And why does a player who is picked as an all-rounder only get 6 overs.

Yeah it is, i had a look at it earlier today.

I spose that the site has to keep running and that becoming a member or supporter helps achieve this.

Was watching some of the Pakistan - England one dayer on Foxsports the other night and i must say, England looked like a fine tuned one day team.

Personally, i think they are better than where they are ranked.

PS:- I don't really follow soccer but wouldn't it have been great if Australia had been drawn into Englands group in the soccer world cup.

Oh well, we'll just have to try and get through into the next round.

Yeah, but people want to talk recent history where we have played 3 out of the last 6 finals, if you want to go back to the Shield records, I think you will find us clearly in 2nd place, well ahead of your mob and QLD

Considering we only entered the comp in 1947, it's only fair to compare the results after both teams were in the comp. That puts WA at 15 and the pricks at 10, a rather scathing indictment of the downhill slide of Victorian cricket in the last 50 years (with a few notable exceptions). even if you measure it from 1982-83 (the first year all states participated), WA have 7 titles to Victorias two.

Hey, it is quite interesting to see that Vaughan has been bowled most times in single figures.

He has only been bowled once or twice after he has passed 50.

That sounds simple and logical enough. While a batsmen is getting established he will be vunerable to getting knocked over and once he gets his/her eye in then they will be more able to protect their wicket.

Ponting in the next ashes series should put 1 man close in on each side of the wicket and another 2 (one in close and another at conventional mid wicket ) at mid wicket.

Therefore, the bowlers can attack the stops looking for a bowled or LBW.

Leave the square leg area open encouraging Vaughan to try and hit the ball squarer to avoid the cluster of fields in at mid wicket. This would increase the chances of bowling or getting a positive LBW decision.
