Key position, mobile winger, marking forward? What's his role going to be next year?

Providing an extra body for the first 22 at training.

It didn't take long for this thread to take a very depressing turn.

Next year he has to prove himself all over again, imo.

His whole final series wasn't too bad.

Prove himself all over again? I doubt the club would be that dirty on him.

Staker did well on Goods for a while in the GF and while I accept he made some errors we lost that game as a team. As you all know there's no "I" in team (:) ) and we could isolate several mistakes from several players and say "that's why we lost", so lets no dwell on it.

On the topic I'm not sure what Staker role will be next year. It would be nice if he could grab a KP, CHB would be nice, but even if he doesn't his agility give him the option of playing on a flank and developing (which he is still doing) in the AFL.

The number 1 rule in supporting a footy team:

Regardless of what you think them privately, never ********can the players publicly.

It's very, very poor form.

That play on call in the GF was harsh, he hardly moved at all. Stakes is a gun and has nothing to prove to the coaching staff.

I am certainly not blaming Stakes for anything but he did do afew very so-so things in that GF. All that I ask is that he learns from them and make him a better player.

I still believe there's a heck of a lot of upside left in him.

I almost see him in the devolpment stage of what Glass was in. Staker (especially mentally) has still a long way to go.

He could be anything. CHB, the 3rd tall down back. HF, FF, HFF, Fwd Pocket, Wing.....

Who knows.

Woosha must see a lot in Brent so why dont we just have faith in woosha he is always right. The thing about Staker is that he is a great mark but he seems to get scared in packs (like many of our players). He is one of our best kicks, but does not read the play well. More of an athelete than a football player, i have always had a soft spot for him so i help he can have a good year.

I would actually like Staker to play as the third tall in defence this year till his body develops more strength wise.

This would also allow Hunter to play more of a role up forward as well

I think he has devloped, hes been in the system for a while now, some players just find it a lot harder to bulk up then others.

He has done 3 preseasons but they don't do much weights in their first year. He is still only 21 and from what I have seen he is a bit bigger this year, not hugely so but each year he seems to get a little bit bigger.

Mr Mikben this is my opinion and if you don't like it you can just go and jump for all I care.

You can't possibly say that Staker is a good player can you?

Staker is rubbish in my opinion and I stick by this I watch him live on GFD and he lost us the game so get over it.

Staker had about 2-3 very good games for the year the rest were garbage and this is how I observe my opinion and this is his what his 3rd season (stand to be corrected ) not good enough. Should be consisitanly putting more v.good games together by now.

Good to see your irrationality prevails.

You know he is promising but can't get over the GF. Move on.

Nice one. The most pressure carlton players are going to come under for the next 10yrs is whether they are going to make the league record for consecutive wooden spoons.

came from the worst club in australia, west broken hill. They have hardly won a game in 15 years so winning just isnt something he's grown up doing, was average at best in a local comp, has improved immeasurably to be an average at best afl player.

Well clubs don't like to throw too much at the kids too soon. In the first year they only do about 50% of the preseason load. In the 2nd year about 75% and in their third 100%.

I just thought they'd lift as heavy as possible.
