Does anyone know whether the Whitten oval will be available to host a practice match this year due to the renovation works or standard of the surface. Wouldn't it be good to see a game of footy back home after not seeing one for a few years due to various reasons.

I thought they were still training there. If it is good enough to train on, it can't be too far off match standard

I took my boys down to watch the Dogs train last Saturday morning and had a kick afterwards. The ground is in excellent nik and easily good enough to play a practice match on. For the record the boys looked great and big compared with other pre-seasons. Darcy moved extremely well and Granty was the fittest I have seen him in years, no limps, no apparent injuries. Interesting that Eagle spent the morning on the bike, looked proppy as did Dale Morris I thought. There was no Monty which disappointed me but the boys who really impressed me were Griffen and Cooney, oozing class those boys. My young bloke asked me who the new real tall guy was because he looked and moved extremely well, it was Streeter and he has certainly been working on his upper body. Anyway that was the way I saw training, cheers.

I love nothing better than cracking a Vic at about 11 o'clock at the Whitten for a practice match. The only problem this year is we may not play a practice match as we will win the preseason cup (hope).

yes the ground is in top shape after recently being relayed. Only problem is all the bugs and flies out there, i think there is something in the grass that attracts all those little grass bugs in their billions.
Practice games are great at the w.o, but it may be that they won't play a game there because of the works. At the moment the ground is only accessible through the main office entrance (near the atm). The gate entrance is locked as there are moving equipment etc there. So I doubt they would have a game other than an intraclub there in it's current state, but by next year who knows. It's always great watching a game there, especially in summer.
