Here are my nominations for the best Lower-Order, Tail Ender, whatever you want to call them, batsmen Australia has produced in the last 10 years.

Tail Enders are important players with the bat in this day and age. So they should. Most bowlers earn big money and as such they should at least be able to hold a bat and make valuable runs for the team.

We saw Shane Warne in the Ashes making vital runs down the order and as such who do you think was Australia's best lower order batsmen in the last 10 years?

Here are my Nominations in no particular order:

Brett Lee (20.21)

Paul Riefell (26.52)

Damien Fleming (19.06)

Shane Warne (16.82)

Andy Bichel (16.90)

For me, Paul Riefell wins hands down.

Don't forget Dizzy, average of 15.42. He played some very useful knocks to keep recognised batsmen going....

Yeah, i didn't think of Dizzy to be honest. His standout innings in my opinion was the one he played as nightwatchmen in India in 2004.

Shane Warne is IMO the one who is the most capable of playing a damaging innings.

When he puts his head down their is no doubt the guy can bat.

Really, he is the complete cricketer.

:D Never a shortage of excitement when he's at the crease. But he batted beautifully against the Windies recently.

Reiffel was a fine tailender, it's close between him and Lee, who is a very exciting batsman to watch. But you can't leave out Dizzy, who may only average 15, but don't forget his batting has come a long way the past few years and he is a master at "holding down an end" and his defensive game is brilliant.

Reiffel for sure. Dizzy has to be mentioned for having a better defence than alot of batsmen.

Funky Miller is up there with the best entertainers in lower order batman-ship.

Funky going the tonk in the 4th test against the Windies in 98/99. Hitting Ambrose and Walsh all over the place, making up shots as he went along.

Ok, maybe that was as good as it got.

McGraths 61 is up there with the best innings I've ever seen. When you take into account McGraths batting ability...

Seeing him smash Vettori for 6, and seeing the Aussies reaction was one of the funniest moments I've had watching cricket.

What a team Victoria had in the late 90's

Warne
Reiffel
Fleming

Great bowlers, great batsman, greatest tail in the world

in fact reiffell > Lee :)

Now why would you feel the need to mention Lee as a bowler again?

Personally I think Starz is doing a beautifully job considering all the posts about Brett Lee on this board :)

I thought Paul Reiffel was excellent tail-ender. With a batting average of 26+ he would have to be considered an all-rounder.

Reiffel was very good.
I though Gillespie and Lee were also good. Warne when he had his head in the right place was also very damaging.

I agree too - Pistol was great

I can see lee being turned into the allrounder we need...just an Idea

Dizzie also is a great tail-ender....lets hope he can have few more cracks at it with the aussie team
