This boy could be anything. He is burning up the track at the moment and looking the goods. Does anyone have an opinion on where they would like to see him play in the senior team? Forward? Back?

I think he would make a very good CHF and/or FF. Imagine in 2-3 years time he and Josh Kennedy going on rampage after rampage in the CFC forward line. Both like the physical stuff and take great pack marks.

Hartlett was listed at 195cm and 88kg lats season. I would say he is still around the 195cm/196cm mark but think he would be around the 95-98kg mark somewhere. Is looking big, strong and powerful - exactly what you want from your KPP.

Must play him in the WC Cup opener and hopefully he does well enough and improves enough to warrant senior games in the 2006 season.

I would like to see Hartlett at CHB, but I feel he's a better forward. We need someone with his height back there, as we've really only been playing blokes around 6'3 back there the past few seasons. I'd be disappointed if Whitnall played CHB (or anywhere in defense) again in 2006.

I remember the first time I had heard about Adam Hartlett. I was on the afl website and the draft guru was had made his draft predictions and that article had bio's on each player. I had read that Adam Hartlett a long-kicking key position player who plays with aggression, takes a good mark and his a good kick for goal. It also said that he booted 17 goals from 18 shots!! I also read that he is 195cm tall and weighs 88kg.
Later on I had a look on the afl website and had a look at all the selections of the 2004 National AFL Draft. I searched for Adam Hartlett hoping that Carlton had selected him with one of their picks. I also had heard of Eddie Betts (picked up in psd), Jesse D. Smith (picked up in rookie draft) and Beau Wilkes (picked up in rookie draft by the weagles). I was hoping that Carlton would select Hartlett in the national draft, Betts in the psd and also Smith and Wilkes in the rookie draft.
As I was scanning through the selections I was all but hoping that Carlton had picked up these players. I found that Carlton had picked up Hartlett (national draft), Betts (psd) and Smith (rookie draft) but Wilkes had been picked up by the Weagles.
I want to see Hartlett and Kennedy playing together at Carlton in the forwardline. Obviously Fev and Big Red are still there at the moment and I'm hoping that those two as well as Terry Daniher and Stephen Kernahan can assist Kennedy and Hartlett to become our long-term key-position players in our forwardline. I eventually want to see Hartlett at FF and Kennedy at CHF. I am hoping Kennedy can become like a Stephen Kernahan and Nick Riewoldt type of player while I am hoping Hartlett can become a permanent forward that is quick, got good speed, good endurance, impressive goalkicking, aggressive player, very bulky and strong.
I also want to see our midfield long-term and young midfield consist of Simpson, Bentick, Walker, Jackson, Murphy. That's my view.
I appreciate your thoughts and responses.

Ahh the debut post ...

anyway, Hartlett says himself that he is more suited to the forward line and from the times that I did manage to see him play for the Bullies last year, I think he's right... the beauty about this kid is his aggression, size and versatillity. We are fast becoming quite the KPP big kicking side (Fevola, Bryan, Hartlett, Kennedy). One thing is for sure I CANNOT WAIT to see all of our kids (bar Kennedy of course) play in the NAB Cup :thumbsu:

What about Fev? Where would that leave him?

Give Hartlett a good run in the NAB cup and then some VFL games to see if his form is worthy of promotion to the senior squad. Has the frame and leap, not sure if he has the defensive mindset. Will be interesting to see how he goes as a defender in the 2's.

Would love to see us add another KPP in next eyar's draft, someone such as Lachlan Hansen would fit the bill.

At this stage we have depth and genuine talent. The talls we have on our list all have talent, mobility, skill, nous, height and the frame to bulk up some more.

Hartlett - 195cm/95-98kg?
Kennedy - 195cm/92kg
Bower - 193cm/90kg
Edwards - 192cm/86kg
Raso - 192cm/83kg

Throw in Fisher, Livo, Thornton, Fevola, Saddington, Whitnall and Waite and the depth is better than in pervious years. Still, IMO we need 1 or 2 more KPP in next years draft.

Based on guys like Livingston, Bryan, Prendergast, Bannister likely to get the chop. Whitnall seems to always be a possibility of being traded also.

Beside the point, we will probably have 5 or 6 draft picks in next years draft, doubt getting all midfielders is a smart move. By getting another 1 or 2 KPP, we can still get midfielders with other picks.

A footy club can never have too mnay talented tall KPP!

That maybe true but the one thing we have lacked in the last 5 years has been quaility tall defenders and IMHO the jury is still out on the ones we have now with the exception of Thorton.

The great thing is, at the moment we are building up on KPP. Next year when we add more midfield talent we are really going places!

yeah, would have to agree ..

the one thing I admire about Hartlett's game is his aggression. I've been told he often has play fights at training with Banno and Fev.

To take on Fev who is built like a brick sh1thouse and Bannister who would have learnt a lot from his oldman is impressive for a 19 year old.:)

And I'm now looking forward to his debut to see what he can do.;)

Whoever we pick first at next years draft is going to be extra good anyway whether he's KPP or midfielder.

I think we'll do well this season, so hopefully there's somebody like Leroy Jetta left by our pick. Would love to see a mercurial aboriginal player on the wing opposite Simpson.

Are you forgetting Walker?:thumbsu:

If our young KPPs (Hartlett, Kennedy, Bower, Setanta, Edwards, etc) and midfield (Simpson, Carrazzo, Walker, AB, Murphy, Blackwell, Russell) show they are up to the task and we win enough games to get a pick from five to ten in the draft.

I hope we draft the 201 cm Leuenberger who is regarded by some as the best young ruck available next year and a better ruckmen than Patrick Ryder who went top ten this year.A young ruckmen is the one piece that is missing on the list and we desperately need to find a replacement for French sooner than later.

He can only be "something" if he decides to take the aggression he shows on the track out onto the playing field. The general opinion around the club is that he trains like a killer, and plays like a lover;)

That's not the "general opinion" around the club from what Ive heard. He's regarded highly at the CFC.

On the 06 draft pick - I don't really care what position the player we draft plays in because he should be an excellent player waiting to happen, BIG draft pool this year! We still need more midfielders and a couple more KPP. Hansen, Gibbs, Sellar, Selwood, Jetta and some other would all be a good get for us.

An excellent mid and an excellent KPP in the 06 draft is what we need. French & McLaren will be good for a few years together.
