View Full Version : Sam Lonergan
Is Sam likely to get a game in the Essendon midfield during the season, given he played some games in the Tasmania VFL side and was more than capable of winning the footy
Or will he be unable to get in with J and M Johnson both playing roles in the middle along with other youngsters like Monfries/Slattery?

He might get a few but won't be many. STanton, J Johnson, M Johnson, DYson, Camporeale, Heff, Monfries will get a game ahead of him.
i think that he will get more than his fair share of games in 2006 as his body is fully devaloped and is also proven against men (VFL) and you always know that he will put his head over the ball with 100% commitment. i beleive that he would be the key that would let J. Johnson releive some of the pressure that was on him since 2001

I haven't seen him play, but the reports on him have all been strong. I don't think Sheedy's thrown in kids in their first few weeks since 93 though, so I'd expect a bit of an apprenticeship with Bendigo.
I'd also be pretty disappointed if "Our 'Enery" Slattery didn't get some early opportunities first, I was very impressed with his initial showings last season.

his destiny is in his own hands, if he continually racks up valuable posessions for bendigo then he puts his name in contention with the seniors. I dont think he would be ignored if he gathered 20+ posessions 3-4 games in a row.
Also if we have as many injuries as last year then he could be a chance, i guess we'll see how he goes in the NAB cup because sheeds alwyas tries he's youngsters duriong this competition.
