View Full Version : -Justin Leppitsch- and the CHB position
FFC + BBFC = BBFFC

If Leppa never gets back to full fitness, who is going to take over his spot at centre half-back?
The main options are:
Daniel Bradshaw- meaning Merret to play Full Foward
Josh Drummond- not strong enough to match it with the games elites.
Daniel Merret- Probably doesnt have the footy smarts just yet to be playing in such a defensive role.
Wayde Mills- just a cub, needs a yer or 2 before stepping into such a big role.
thoughts???

I'd say Bradshaw would get the nod while Mills and Garner develop further.
Would give Merrett and Mitch Clark a chance to show what they can do up front.

I would say that Bradshaw is probably the best bet if Leppitsch wasn't up to speed but don't write off Merrett completely. He's got great intelligence around the football and though mainly has played up forward to this point does have the body strength and speed to be groomed for the CHB position.
Agreed. Bradshaw. Merrett as FF.

Likely we'll see Paddy Garner get some games this year, maybe as a third tall. Wouldn't write off the possibility of seeing Wayde Mills play this year either - is pretty well built for a youngster.
The dark horse may be Joel Patfull. OK, he's short for a CHB but Leppa isn't exactly touching the sky either. He's physically ready and is looking ultra-fit from the training photos I've seen.
But yeah, i think Braddy will be the stopgap unless any of the aforementioned are burning it up for Suncoast.
Leppa was seen just before training broke-up before Xmas doing some sprints - hopeful signs...

At the moment, Bradshaw would be our next best option, and a pretty good one at that.
The wildcard I throw in is Richard Hadley. He is know listed as 190 cm tall (Leppa is 191cm) and his body has bulked up over the past few years (until that darn knee!!) I also once heard Leigh talk about him as a defensive player to watch.
I know he has midfield potential, but who knows...........

CtD, I think if you're going to give away height at CHB like Leppa does, you need a good vertical leap and I'm not sure that's one area Richard has strength in. I could be wrong, but it's not something that leaps to mind when I think of Rich. But if things got desperate I'm sure it would be considered.

Especially recovering from a knee reco.
It would have to be Bradshaw really. Though I'd prefer to see him forward.
Brennan if he bulked up maybe?

Not a silly suggestion, he would need to be more accountable though.

Yeah, he's never been especially good overhead for a guy pushing 6'3. More like a genetically enhanced Simon Black. Uses his extra size to bullock more than Simon and the extra reach to keep the ball clear of the tackler when he disposes. Clever. But I reckon his natural tendency is to try to chest mark the high ball.
Geez he looks unbelievably fit at the moment though.

What exactly is up with the guy that he hasn't recovered from by now?

Leppa? He had a disc injury in his back I believe. Hard to get it right. Hadley was a knee reco.

Yeah Bradshaw has to be the obvious solution but Mills or Garner should eventually fit into that possy.
Hopefully he can make a full recovery for next season and give us a couple more good years before his departure.
Does anyone know where I can get teh link for trainin pictures at all??

I'd say Bradshaw but what about some of the young cubs-- Marty Pask a tall strong player ;played very well with Suncoast
