View Full Version : What can we name our midfield
Brisbane had the Fab Five, but we have more depth then that, so I was thinking maybe.....
The Elite Ten (Cox Gardiner Kerr Judd Cousins Fletcher Stenglein Selwood Embley Braun) Ruckmen are included cos both those two move like midfielders :D
The AA team (Cox Gardiner Cousins Judd Fletcher) - many more soon to be included :D
The Magnificent Seven (Kerr Judd Cousins Fletcher Stenglein Embley Braun) The Wiser heads
Add your team name :)

I like the midfield, but the magnificent 7 has already been used as a name for an Eagles playing group.
Using the name again will only cheapen the efforts of those from a past generation of Eagles. :)

Yeah but the original West Coast Magnificent 7 was tainted by Scott Watters so it hardly counts.

Sad thing is some of your players probably had the same attitude towards the end of the season, probably something I wouldn't be proud of.
As an Eagles fan I probably also wouldn't bring up a team's ability to play in matches that count. How's Chad going by the way? Someone compare him to Scott West I need a good laugh.

Charlie's Angels?
Needs to be the elite players... Brisbane had the Fab Four with Voss, Aka, Black and Lappin and they really were top shelf players.
You cant name our entire midfield cos not all our mids are definitely top shelf.
I like the Super Six though for Cuz, Judd, Kerr, Fletch, Embers and Braun.

The moment the doggies play finals footy and get off the AFL welfare, is the moment when you get some credibility.
As for naming our midfield group, we dont need some tacky jingle. Our sides midfield is feared because of its depth and ability. The West Coast midfield says it all.

You're talking about relevance are you? Then what the ******** does...
West, Cooney, Griffen, Cross, Giansiracusa, Johnson, Eagleton, McMahon, Gilbee > Whatever you name your midfield
...have to do with the topic? Now if you're really interested in creating some discussion then get your friends on the Dishlickers board to unban me so I can come over and talk with you.

That isn't the topic of this thread as you well know. Any derision pointed in your direction is well-deserved mate. If you want to compare the midfields of the two teams then start your own thread.

And why would you discuss it on our board?
The Breeze , cause they slice through the opposition. Also has Perth connotations.
From my point of view , how about The Over Supplied. You have too many to fit in there , how about shipping some east?:)
I got it , how about a Kerr for Tarrant trade. Including a couple of draft picks. How come no one had thought of this idea before?
Cheers , all the best for 2006

Nice ring to it however, the seabreeze here is known as the Fremantle Doctor and we prefer not thanks. ;)

So true we have an over abundance of midfielders, however all are needed. :)

Kerr for Tarrant and 2 draft picks? Umm, no. Kerr will win the Chas this year (I hope) and will play in a premiership side (I hope). He will then repay his debt to the club by signing a 10 year contract and playing out his days in the blue and gold. ;)
Cheers , all the best for 2006

Ah, jimmy, always the optimist. You forget that I was happy to trade my 1972 Datsun 120Y (purple, with orange racing stripes) as a package deal with McDougall. I wanted NOTHING in return...... Now you want to talk ridiculous deals???

Win/win I would have thought hawk but that's ok I am more than happy to keep Taz , he is an important part of our forward structure. Even allowing for Rocca's return at his age from an achilles injury I am not alarmed at our forward line at all. Midfields can be built and I feel we are moving in the right direction in that area. (although if Father Christmas and Father Time got their heads together and granted my wish for 10 years off Bucks age then I would be most pleased)
Kerr is a gun , not so sure about the Chas/Premiership double but not without hope I will admit.
And Goldenblue ,The Breeze I thought was a catchy title but I do understand the Doctor that blows through and his name not to your tastes.

Does that mean that when we win a flag our much maligned forward line can be considered the best in the comp?

No it isn't. Brisbane's midfield helped the Lions win 3 flags. Teh Eagles midfield has achieved nothing yet, but granted your poor fowards doesn't help their cause.

Brisbane had the best all round tallent I have ever seen
FF/CHF combo of Brown and Lynch
FB/CHB combo of Mal Michael and Leppitch
then a midfield consisting of Keating Black Akermanis and Voss. All Brownlow medalists (except for Keating)
I doubt any team would be able to rival them for all round tallent, ever.

It is flawed logic. By your logic the best midfield in the AFL is Sydney's.
