View Full Version : Andre Nel is a champ
:thumbsu:
Looks like a quality bloke and is a true character on the field!
Was joining in with the crowd when they were paying them out and thats definetely a sign of someone who isn't 100% full of themselves.
Anyway, good luck to him, we need more people like Andre Nel in the game :)

Good to see him signing autographs during the Rudolph injury time as well.

You have them blokes in football aswell, good blokes off the field but d!k heads on it.
Brings a bit of like to the game it's good to see.
Boring without them.
I think the commentators got it right when they said he has 'white line fever'
Competitve on it, great guy off it...and signing autographs and singing along to "Nel is a ********er' proves this.
But damn, at some stages i ****** hate him.

Quite a character, loved seeing Symonds give it to him after a couple of sixes too.
So now people like him?
Gun bloke, love him.

whats not to like about a bloke who acts like that and gets spanked around the park?
remember Chris Gayle putting him right back into his shell one test match, makes the viewing even better.

We're not talking about Lee here mate.
Nel has been good on this tour. No doubting that.

Nel is a legend, that wan ker chant shows how much class the guy has. We need more characters in the game.
However, those that like Brett Lee's antics hate Nel for some reason. Lee acted like tool in the past and got spanked around the park (remember his celebrations at dismissing number 9 batsmen?) although his bowling now is steadily improving.
It was hilarious when he was clapping along to it.
True character of the game...a cult figure no doubt.
He is not the most gifted player but he tries hard and has had some good results against the mighty Aussies.

i dunno, fair w@nker at times but yes at times has a good sense of humour
Definitely an exciting player and adds that extra bit to the game. All the best to him and keep up the sledging.

He's a rough-at-the-edges youngster for mine. 28 years old with 16 tests.
Positives: 1. He gives everything. 2. He understands that entertainment is an important part of the game. 3. He understands that there's a distinction between firing up and being a gentlemen, and that there's a balance somewhere.
Negatives: 1. He hasn't figured out where the balance is yet. 2. He regularly errs on the side of being a boor.
Positives again: He's just like Warne and McGrath (at similar stages of their careers).
The biggest problem in the South African team is a lack of flair when the chips are down. I think Nel is probably part of the solution, but he does need to study where the right balance lies for mine.
Ya gotta love a bloke that doesn't take himself too seriously. Onya Nelly!

And when he was batting, he left a googly from MacGill (just missed the stumps), and, realising how clueless he looked, started laughing hysterically.
He's great for the game.

It was funny when he was sledging Symonds and giving him the long stare, then when he walked past the ump and Hayden on the way back to his mark he was laughing and joking with them. :D

I enjoy watching anyone give us some of our own medicine on the field.
Don't get me wrong, I think what our team does is great, the game is played with a bat, a ball, and their minds and we win most of the mind games played.
Nel is a bright light in a fairly dull team, honestly, could you imagine the wacky funster Boucher teaming up with the school captain Pollock to play some gags on the skipper Smith!! They would probably short sheet his bed, and he would then smash the absolute ******** out of them with his bat. He looks very angry most of the time.
More Nel, more Nel, more Nel, more Nel......................
I have started the Andre Nel revolution.
Andre Nel you are a gun and I love you.
Bow down to me and Andre.

At first I hated him, but then I realised he is exactly like I would be if I was out there playing.
He ain't bricking anybody in the face as far as I can tell.
As with most others, I like him much more than I did.

Just on that chant, haven't the Aussie cricket crowds come along way in 20 odd years.
1980's: Hadlee is a w*nker, Hadlee is a w*anker.
2005: Nellie is a w*nker, Nellie is a w*nker.

I absolutely hate him its not his celebrations when the wicket falls it is how every ball he walks up and says something to the batter. I'd wanna smack him one with the bat if he got too close and started mouthing off!

Haha, I meant he is an arrogant prick. Just like I am when I play soccer, I'm good and I know it, so why not let other people know about it aswell.
I think the reason why i was never like that when I played cricket is because i was err, shi...less talented..

He is a champion, wish there were more characters like him in world cricket.
Best moment of todays play for me was seeing McGrath bouncing him first ball, loved it.

As a bloke who's played against fellas that are like Andre Nel on the field, you sometimes just really want to stick it up them, and when you do, it's always great, but when you don't, it sticks in your craw.
Then again, you always like to play blokes like that because they give you everything they've got, and are not afraid to say it or show it, and it makes playing the game more interesting, and at the end, they're usually nothing like what they are on the field, but a top blokes off it.
But, Andre Nel, is an honest tryer, and a tight economical bowler with a bit of mongrel, a bit like Pat Symcox, and someone who's not afraid to stir the pot, and I like that.
And anyway, Bay 13 only has a shot at those who are talented, and they grudgingly admire (eg Hadlee, Akram, Botham, Symcox, etc).
Nel's mine bitch :D
Mate I claimed him, Nel's mine and will be a star of the Australian test team for years to come.
Word is he is looking to transfer to Australia.
Bwahhahahahahaha.
You are one funny fellow :D
