Here's a bit of trivia in the off-season for us Saints fans.
Who did Justin Peckett make his debut against? In what round, and in what year?
Kildonan

It wasn't early in the season so mid / late 1992

Ok, this is a bit of an unusual question, but who cares..
Which St Kilda player played 123 games and kicked 38 goals?
(Hint: He wore number 25)
Appleyard
15 Jan 2006, 11:42
MSG you get a year's BFSC membership for getting that question right.
First person to get MSG's question right picks up a year's BFSC as well as the right to ask the next question :D
First person to get THAT question also gets a BFSC.
NB: Only Saints supporters are eligible for the prize.

I think it was Morrow?
Alan Morrow it was. That was his last game for the saints.

The correct answers so far:
Hawthorn in Round 4, 1992
winner - 1 year membership
Daryl Griffiths.
ineligible - moderator
I think it was Morrow?
ineligible - already won one

Clue 1: The year was 1961.
Clue 2: This player did not play in our '66 Grand Final win.
JeffDunne
21 Jan 2006, 07:38
My first thought was Rowland again.
When you say didn't play in '66, were they still playing and not selected or not playing at all?
Rowland fills the bill. He played in the 61 final and after playing in the 66 PF, was emergency for the GF.
mad-saint-guy
21 Jan 2006, 12:01
Nope, not Rowland, and he was forced to retire from VFL because of the surface of the Melbourne grounds.
JeffDunne
21 Jan 2006, 13:32
When you say he missed the GF, was he still playing in '66?
mad-saint-guy
21 Jan 2006, 15:24
Wasn't going to answer this, but no, he was not playing VFL in 1996.
JeffDunne
21 Jan 2006, 16:15
Well that narrows it down a bit.
Neil Roberts?
mad-saint-guy
21 Jan 2006, 16:44
Nope.
There are 14 players that played in the '61 final but didn't play in the '66 GF.
I can find no reference in any of the 'official' books about any of them leaving their gear home.
B Walsh
B Annand
E Guy
N Roberts
R Apted
W Coady
L Oswald
L Garlick
J Guyatt
F Hodgkin
K Roberts
W Young
J McMillan
I Rowland
JeffDunne
21 Jan 2006, 17:49
Guy was my next guess.
(although I think he's more likely to have caused his opponent to want to leave his gear at home ;) )
Nope, not Rowland, and he was forced to retire from VFL because of the surface of the Melbourne grounds.
The only player that was a surprise delisting from that time that I'm aware of was Leo Garlick.

mad-saint-guy
22 Jan 2006, 12:16
Ok, the clues are:
1- He left his footy ear at home when leaving to play in a final in 1961
2- He was not playing VFL in 1966
3- He had to retire from VFL prematurely because of injury problems on the soft Melbourne surfaces
If this isn't answered in the next day or two I'll just ask another question,
buddy annan, the ruckman from castlemaine
mad-saint-guy
24 Jan 2006, 15:24

When mad-saint-guy asks the next question later today the free membership will go to the first St Kilda supporter to answer the question.
Whilst we encourage supporters from all teams to respond if they know the answer I'm sure you would all appreciate that it's Saints regulars who will be visiting this board on a regular basis throughout the year and one of our own deserve to be rewarded.
Good luck Saints fans.

Ok, its time. The answer to the previous question was Lance Oswold.
The next question, possibly the hardest question asked ever, in any trivia game played by man-kind...
Who currently wears number 35 for the St Kilda Saints?
(This one is for the nocturnal weirdos like me who spend the time they should be sleeping, on the internet. Cos if you're on at 4 in the morning and a question has just been asked, you'll get first crack at it!).

Rather than admit to being a nocturnal weirdo I'll just say that StKildonan and I work in shifts so that the board is moderated 24 hours a day. :p
For a BFSC membership,
Who did we play in the last game at Moorabbin and what was the final margin?
Defeated Fitzroy by 18 points - end of 1992.
Not sure if that gets me the BFSC - if not, have a go at this one:
In Round 2 1993, Carlton drew with Essendon at the MCG when Stephen Kernahan failed to score from 45 metres out. At that moment, what unusual event had occurred at Waverley between St Kilda and the Kangaroos.

I didn't make it a Saints only prize to deny people like yourself the BFSC membership, it was more to stop supporters from other clubs that were only interested in the membership. Not those of you that are making meaningful contributions.
I'll leave your question for a day or so. If no-one can answer it then I can't see any reason why you shouldn't get it.
Come on Saints fans, the final BFSC is there for the taking.
It should be for saints fans only. All boards seem to be running it so everyone should get a crack at it on their own boards.

I would have been there, nothing springs to mind.
Edit; I was there, I have the record, I also have the following weeks record v Sydney, nothing in there other than Gordon Fodes 4 goals, his first ever 4
sainter
27 Jan 2006, 00:16
Ahhh, Gordon Fode.
My most lasting memory of Gordon Fode was at the Saints Family Day at Luna Park. My brother was getting the players autographs and Fode decided to take up the whole A4 sheet of paper with his own autograph.
The other memorable moment from that day was listening to Craig O'Brien and the Saints Mascot have an animated discussion. I'm sure many of the kids have gone on to use that kind of language while watching the Saints play so good on OB for trying to start them young.
Anyway, Hilly sent me a PM with the answer because he's gone away :-
At the exact same time, the game at Waverley saw scores level, with St Kilda scoring a very late goal and behind to take a 7 point victory. Hence, 2 draws on the one day seemed probable.
