Is it just me, or has Carlton just installed a new logo? On the front of both the AFL and Carlton websites there seems to be a new logo in place. Very similar, but now just the CFC on a blue background, like you see on the umpers.
Is it new?

Yes, it's new.
The AFL in yet another wise decision on the back of the awarding of the TV rights, have dumped one of the best symbols in the league and only god knows why!
Not happy Jan!
Looks crap!

Why should the AFL have any say in it? Unless it is something to with the Federal Government (like ours in 2003 with the Australian Flag supposed to be situatied on the left and not the right), why should the AFL step in and change it? The old one was classic Carlton.

We do since it's the most successfull logo in the league unlike the Pies logo, so show some respect on the Carlton board.:thumbsd:

Why on earth was it changed?
Changing with the times? I think they could have done better.
The AFL didn't change it.
It's in conjunction with their 'Something Blue,' campaign.
As Ben Lee sang...
"I get the feeling I could meet you on the interstate. I get the feeling like I just broke through. I get the feeling that you never mattered anyway... Something borrowed, something blue."
Not to mention the ominous line... "... And we're hoping and we're choking, something borrowed, something blue."

If that's true then that's pathetic and a decision made by someone who doesn't know Carlton.:thumbsd:

Is it perminant?
I would think so due to the change on the AFL Website.
Personally, I hate it. Some things you shouldn't change and I believe that that is one of those things.
I don't know why we got rid of the old insignia on the jumpers in favour of this round one.
The graphic designer charged a fortune I bet.
A modern corporate image would have sufficed.
A very ordinary decision to firstly change the logo, and secondly to choose the one they did............pathetic.

Totally agree with you Oz. Every time I watch an replay of a match featuring the old sewn on logo it makes me sick, it looks so much better and has a lot more character.
The monogram on the jumper now is still the classic logo, I just think it the old sewn on effect looks better. Even when printed on like in the last Optus game this year or the Heritage round games. I think the new material on jumpers doesn't look as good either as the old wool ones with the shine and it makes the navy look less dark. Same goes for Melbourne, Essendon etc. but that probably can't be helped.
As for changing the logo on the webpage etc., I don't agree either, the logo that's been used for the past 10 or so years looks so much better with the leafing etc. in it. At least it is the same style CFC, so they haven't really changed it too much. But...
