I thought the original was great, in fact I purchased it tonight for under $10 :thumbsu: . The second was pretty poor, but acceptable, and I've heard the third was a disaster, but I am yet to see it.

Thoughts?

Yeah, 1st the best for sure, especially the ending scenes where the guy gets covered in acid.

2 was not too bad, a tad over the top but still watchable.

Thoughts? The first is a classic. The second is reasonable. The third is one of the worst films I've ever seen.

"Can you fly, Bobby?"

Good ol Clarence Botticker. That scene at the start in the old factory where Murphy gets his hand blown off and is then shot a few thousnad times is insane.

Yeh I think it's recognised as one of the most violent scenes in history. Some people can barely handle watching it, but it's not that bad in my opinion.

Its comic book violence thats why. It starts out quite nasty after he gets his hand blown off and you see his reaction to that, but when you see him get shot like 100 times....its just ridiculous. Pure over the top Paul Verhoven violence, just like in Total Recall and to lesser extent Starship Troopers.

As a piece of 80s satire though, i think Robocop is actually bloody hilarious. The 2nd one works brilliantly as a straight out sci fi action movie.
