View Full Version : What to do with Gardiner next year?
I say send him back to Claremont...
Also I heard he was injured again :(
He is way too good for the WAFL, he would pick up 50 possessions and kick 15 goals by 3 qtr time, we have to play him if fity IMO.

We are wasting a #1 draft pick if we don't give him all the opotunity we can and if RoJo can pwn the WAFL then Gardiner would absolutely kill everyone.

I gathered that he was injured during or just before the finals feet wise but played on under duress due to a lack of options for the FF position. Was taking pain killing injections from memory
He therefore would be amongst a group of players having post season operations as is the norm
Big year for him career wise though so hope he gets a decent run injury wise
Personally I think that Gardiner will rediscover his 2003 form and by seasons end we will have the two best Ruckman in the AFL!

He has to get on the park first.
No point playing him if he isn't going to go in the ruck, because he isn't playing well as a forward. I'd keep him as second ruckman behind Cox, and Seaby as reserve ruckman, playing in the WAFL.

He hasn't been fully fit for 2 years and it's highly unlikely that he'll ever be 100% fit ever again. Should've unloaded him when they had a chance.

Apparantly he was so drunk at the Perth Cup security had to throw him out of the event. Sounds like hes taking his preseason pretty seriously.

Nice one Heath........
Bye bye now loser..............:D
Im sure we would have all heard about it if that happened.
It was in the paper today.
Don't think they said anything about him being drunk (though I'm sure he probably was) but apparently he knocked over a fan that was giving him the sh*ts.

Unfortunately it did happen. I had mates there along with my sister and they all witnessed it.
He will never change his ways. The only thing we can hope for is that his teammates dont follow his example.
yeah ok, i dont know who would follow his example though.

Come clean and tell the world what he did and how he was as the media are too scared to do it, perhaps you can.

Still hobbeling a fair bit isnt he? :( :(
Just wait and see first, its still a month and a half before the preseason and then almost 3 till the season proper starts.
He may have a slow start but he'll be right to go early enough.

Still hobbeling is he? how does he do that?
He's a crock and a social dunce and if you read between the lines in the Sumich interview on Ten the other night I reckon the Club isn't counting on him being an influential player this year or in the future. In fact with his latest social blunder I'd say they have just about had enough of him.

What I actually meant was that he walks with all his weight on one foot. Its obvious his other foot is preety badly hurt because he doesnt put much weight on it when he walks. IE he hobbles.
I dont care what you think about him personally. Lets just see what he does ok?

Maybe our two clubs could do a "headcase swap" then
Tarrant for Gardiner.
After all both have had there suitability to play at the elite level questioned in the last couple of years

If Gardiner can't play ruck next season then I can't really see any other role for him in the team. This looks as if it could be his last chance !

good call Sydney Eagle absolutely no use as key foward, rather see Lynchy up there, at least Lynch can recover when ball hits deck, send him back to Claremont with all the other AFL rejects.

I dare say Gardiner would be a walk up start at the Pies as a ruckman provided he was fit. After all the Wobbles were the worst in the league in ruck stats last year.
Infact i remmember reading a thread on the pies board a while ago and apparently your best ruckman is G Richards who has only played a handful of games and is coming back from a knee recon.
Gardy therefore could have been the missing link to the Pies return to playing finals footy again ;).

Its a shame really. If he sorted himself out and got fit he would be
a worthwhile aquisition to most teams. His GF effort was really a joke
IMHO.

i don't believe you anyway, but if he was so what??
A drinking session, especially during the off-season, is going to do nothing to a player's overall fitness.
A player's fitness will only be affected by alcohol if they are injured (affecting their physical fitness, i.e. recovery) or if they can't train cause they're hungover (affecting their general fitness). THe only query there may be Gardiner's being injured?? Although i don't think he's actually injured anymore.
If you go and have a big night on the booze and push through it the next day with a big run or training session, you will get exactly the same out of the session than if you stayed in, were tucked in to bed by 10pm and got up the next morning full of beans.

What to do with him?
The Eagles will play him second fiddle in the ruck and it will be do or die time for him as to whether his knee holds up, if not it will be glue factory time he may like the aroma.

You can choose not to believe, but its been confirmed by some of your own fellow supporters.
Its everything to do with Gardiner as a player and as a person. He should be training hard work on his fitness as much as he can. You see Juddy out there getting slaughtered and carried out of an event very often? Gardiner mentality sucks at the moment, and body and mind, hand in hand. If he makes an impact this season i will be very suprised.

booze pffft yeah right
The problem is, as much as I feel he was a champ, he is consuming too many beans of the magic variety. You can't do this and expect to keep up with other elite athletes as well as stay in the right frame of mind to compete at an AFL level.
