A work colleague of mine was tellin me how he recently went to a seminar thing which was about science in sport
Anyway main topic of conversation was the new inniative by West Coast to use technology similiar to what is used to improve cricketers bowlin action to improve there kicking. Pretty much they kick a ball and the computer tells them what they are doing wrong and they will keep workin on it till they get it right. It seems Michael Braun Beau Waters and Beau Wilkes have been the test dummies and apparantly there kicking is improving out of sight (surprised Braun could kick myself but meh). Eagles are pumping in something like 3.5 million over 4 years into the so called project, the overall hope is that all players on our list will end up being able to kick as good on there opposite as they do on there normal foot and will be able to take shots for goal at around 80% accuracy.
Quite a handy advantage, its coming to fruition as seen on the news with Jonny Wilkinson kicking coach coming in, NFL kicking coaches and even soccer coaches will also come in and help the boys over the next year or two. The thing is where the only team with a) the money to do this and b) the technology close by (Im guessin its at UWA) so were the only team doing this type of thing
Gonna be amazing apparantly as they expect that by 2008 all players will be two footed and kickin very straight. Interesting I thought, shows you how all this extra money we have can be used to give us a advantage over the competition.
