Why are the Hawks so disliked?

Not that wide, but one of the longest in VAFA. I watched a game there this year. You need a telescope to see the blokes at the other end.

Just checked in google earth - not accurate to inches but near enough.

Glenferrie Oval 165m x 105m

Sportscover Arena 150m x 130m

Old Westbourne 145m x 115m

Elsternwick 135m x 100m

East Caulfield 145m x 105m

Interesting!

I can see a good idea becoming a big saga... :) So here's the definitive list. All are fairly close except Latrobe which could be anything, so I've guessed as best I could given the pic was taken in summer (cricket) configuration.

Monash - East Caulfield - 145 x 105
Hawthorn - Rathmines Res - 145 x 100
Ivanhoe Assumption - Ivanhoe Park - 150 x 120
Latrobe Uni - Latrobe Uni - 160 x 140 (vaguely)
Elsternwick - Elsternwick No 2 - 135 x 100
Swinburne - St James Park - 140 x 105
Kew - Victoria Park KEW not Abbotsford - 145 x 125
Powerhouse - Ross Gregory Oval - 155 x 105
Old Westbourne - Westbourne School - 145 x 115
West Brunswick - McAllister Oval - 155 x 110And the spiritual home, Sportscover, at 150 x 130.

Hope everyone is happy now...

Tiger get out the trundle wheel. There is no way known that Kew is 165m, it would be lucky to me 145m. It is wide, however, definitely smaller than Ivanhoe in Length.

I checked the VAFA fixtures list and it said Kew's home games were Victoria Park in Lulie St Abbotsford. The only Victoria Park I know there is the ex-Collingwood VFL ground, which I've had a run on and its plenty big. GE's measuring tool shows 165m between the sticks.

Definitely trundle wheel time.

Well the Ammos have certainly got it wrong on the website! Thought Victoria Park was too nice a ground for D3... :)

Victoria Park in Kew is 145 x 125m.

We'll all be experts by the time this is over!

Would find it hard to believe that the Hawthorn ground is only 10m shorter than the WB ground and that the WB ground only 10m shorter than La trobe.

Having played on all three in recent times, I agree that LaTrobe seems to be at least three times as long as Hawthorn. Maybe it's the higher altitude that distorts the perception of length?

Tigernuts - are you a closet geographer?

There was a similar question posed on the D4 Thread: Who will have access to their home grounds for preseason and who will be forced to find alternate training grounds under a council watering ban?
