View Full Version : St kilda manufacturing their own clothing
I feel that this could be detrimental to the saints.
why?
They are taking a gamble that will make a profit
few australian clothing manufacturers make strong profits.
Could make big losses instead
What do you all think about this:confused:

samm,
i think there is minimul risk with this type of venture, as long as it is managed properly. as i see it the club have a fairly accurate idea of the sales figures of specific items. by manufactuing these items themselves they will be outsourcing the materials purchase and labour component whilst controlling the content, distribution and sales. the number of items manufactured will depend on historical and projected sales.
the benefits of doing it yourself is that you cut out the middle man thereby increasing your own profits. the negatives are that people have to be employed to manage this side of the business.
with the increased exposure of club merchandise on the internet they have the opportunity to sell to saints supporters all around australia, as well as through the official channels.
when you buy your saints beanie over the internet this year, all the money will go to the saints, none will go to the afl and the other clubs.
the club are not putting their head in the sand and hoping that our financial struggles will sort themselves out, they are being proactive by trying to create extra revenue sources in an industry that is still connected to the 'football' industry.

Business in general is risk and to attempt something like this which could result in a tidy profit and increased marketing and brand image would be sensational.. ;)
