Drew cant drink of that we all know. but the man has more balls than a brass monkey, i have seen him have a go at some rather large people.. e.g. shepard from kerang and wes pie.. two rather large gentlmen. doubt big planty would make hima act any different... drew doesnt wander over like he is going to take on the world. a very quiet person who form my experience puts his body on the line where many of the t/m players will not.....
With post's like this footy 02 i would say you are the homma.

no sean charles is still out with a leg injury has been doing some extensive recovery work in kyabram should mabye be back this week.
Did the Lalbert boys know he was to be a no-show. Heard last week he just did bother to let anyone know. Are the eagles banking on him or is it just a bonus if he turns up???

Mmm would be very interesting if Planty happened to read this post, wha do you think FOOZ. I can't recall Planty hitting any kids on Saturday, it wasn't even him who disposed of Darcy. I just made mention of how interesting it was to see Drew Arentz wander over all angry and looking as if he was going to take the world on then quickly re consider when he saw that Planty was in amongst it. A smart move i would have thought on Drew's behalf
I seem to remember a game out at lalbert versus tooleytang where a certain L.Bennett received a smack in the mouth which resulted in tears in his eyes.
Now that was interesting don't you think.

Yeah come on Clifton, pack another punch. That story and the events that have followed have been great reading in an otherwise pathetic media publication. Lets face it sport is news, and football is one of the largest employers and business sectors in the region so there should be more coverage of the great game especially for the GRFL. Take a look at other leagues that are classed as major leagues (not that CMFL still should be), their league websites are fantastic & ours is pathetic and in their media coverage it is a lot better than ours, but i do agree that it is better since you have been chief sports writer Brad

If the Cmfl should not be classed as a major. i would hate to see what the grfl should be classed. Because it is a joke. Our coverage in the media on footy is one of the finest around. The guardian do a better job than most other local papers, purely and simply because it is the only reason people read it (Not that there information is always correct).. and how many leagues get a weekly commentry on the radio.. and weekly reports on 3sh , 1077 and smart fm...

I value your opinion and in all fairness I probably should have gone a bit further to say that my call was in reference to the gloved ones call about cmfl not being major league. Both leagues have dropped 8 fold over the past years (As Mr. Filo said in paper) But the bottom line is that i have watched a few games of both leagues this year and the grfl is poor.. I remember years ago when fish mcgowan could not get a game in his prime for a strong murrabit side.. he ended up being an interleauge ruckman for cmfl.. which shows had low cmfl has sunk as well.. I hope they will not be offended by me mentioning they 're names but former grfl footballers .. carrol and connick would back me up i would think, when i say that the standard is rather low..

Would you believe that the gap in wideing in the sense of the stronger sides to the weaker sides. The CMFL is becoming a one sider affair unfortunately. The stronger sides are the best in northern victoria. But beause of the money being flung around these days players cant afford to represent the league because they dot want to get injured. As i said in a earlier post the D pool is no where near the names we have in this league

Don't know what game you were at Roota to not notice the fifteen free kicks Planty gave away with high hits on mostly the saints young fella's while they were on the bottom of the pack dishing the footy out! If Planty is so tuff why didn't he belt D Arentz when he was remonstrating after D Ryan got king hit? From where i was watching he had every opportunity, maybe kids with there head over the footy are more his style! Lalbert not dragging him (15 free's against and 1 kick one handball) and giving Luke Bennett 3rd best after J Arentz kicked 9 on him even though he had a spell in the 2nd shows how bad they are travelling. Time to be a bit smarter with the recruiting out that way!:)

The standard of all country footy has slipped ,and it has nothing to do with the players either. It is the way foot ball is structured by the VCFL,countryclubs lose all their good young players to the poineers usually never to return. You dont see ex AFL players returnig to the bush any more to coach to put abit back into grassroots football The game at the big end of town is greedy and run by people with egos

this is only my opinion but i just can not see how you could have fullfowards in the top 5. i agree that they are great players but they dont kick the balls to themselves. what about the work horses that give the fullfowards the ball, like your chilterns, guerras, thamms, smiths, just to name a few but there are many more from other teams that feed these fullfowards weekly.

Firstly - I didn't mention anything about the standard of the GRFL i mentioned that it should get more coverage in the Swan Hill paper & in my opinion the CMFL is no longer a major league. I also said since Brad has been at the Guardian the football coverage has improved but it could be better, major leagues such as Geelong, O&M, GV, MP, Ballarat, Bendigo, Gippsland etc all have a great coverage of football in print media, radio that would be better than what we get.
Secondly - You agree that Mr Filo said this league has dropped 8 fold. He is a man who's opinion would be valued by many and if he says the league has dropped 8 fold then that would mean it is no longer a major league considering there are only four divisions. Again your mentioning in reference to me that the standard of GRFL is poor and I agree I just think they are the second league in this area and it doesn't get enough media coverage.
Maybe the two leagues in this area need to sit down with other neighbouring leagues and work out how to best manage the way footy standard has decreased and get football in this area back to where it was years ago when we were playing against Geelong, La Trobe Valley etc.

So Gloved 1 or should i say Blindfolded 1. You've obviously seen the media coverage that each of these leagues get in person to make such a comment i hope. Because i've been involved with a few of the leagues mentioned and the guardian and local radio coverage is well above some of these leagues. For example the Geelong Football League's coverage in the Advertiser is minimal at best, having to compete with the AFL and other sports not even played up here. I conceed not as good as a few, we certainly don't match up in terms of television, but nore should we with a substantialy smaller population.

I was talking about the King Hit that i copped mate. The one where i had my back to my opponent was watching the ball and was hit with a swinging arm to the jaw. I was just reminding the Tooleybuc people that their players engae in unsportman like activities also.

Brad does a great job with the overall coverage of sport, but it would be good if they could cover the GRFL a bit better. Seeing that the major newspaper for this area. I relise that there is so much man power available but it would be good if the GRFL gets a bit more coverage in the monday lift out. The GFL get good coverage when the catters loose!!!!

Have been involved with Geelong FL, Ballarat FL, Bendigo FL as a club administrator. The coverage in the Advertiser not so good due to AFL but same in Bendigo and Ballarat, all these other places have another community paper that has fantastic football coverage which is written by the journo's at the major papers. I'm talking about more than TV and radio also. Look at the major leagues websites then go to the CMFL, its almost laughable. These major leagues that most of us in this area wanted to be associated with have full time employees by the leagues to do day to day football operations etc. If football in the CMFL is to get back to where everyone here wants it then the league here will have to do something about the way football is run because I believe our board is good but no where near as good as the other major leagues. have a look at the way one of the members carried on about what a sports writer covered in the paper...

I dont know the hamstring guy in question and have only seen him play once (last saturday). Once I saw him in action I couldnt believe this was the same person that had been getting a few raps as a reasonable player on this very forum the week before. Maybe he is going through some emotional issues outside of footy but his efforts on saturday (before limping straight off into the shower) were very very ordinary. There was more heart and determination at the ball shown by the seconds running around for Lalbert earlier in the day. One thing I couldnt believe was that if you have an injury that is so bad you have to come off you woudl want the trainer/physio to look at it ASAP. This guy didnt go through the interchange, pushed the physio away (Boof O'Bree) and headed straight into the rooms. Obviously had better places to be then out on the ground.

That a real disappointing post from you Telstra
Kearney, Whelan, Harvey, Doyle, Harrison etc would not only match Woora's best you have mentioned, but have them covered in several areas.
Firstly the disposal of this group is superior to those you have mentioned eg. Kerr
The committment of this group is better than some of those mentioned eg. Prymke and names like Brooks and Roberts would only be run of the mill players in the Hawks side of this year.
Firstly - I didn't mention anything about the standard of the GRFL i mentioned that it should get more coverage in the Swan Hill paper & in my opinion the CMFL is no longer a major league. yes all fair points, but you will find that the standard of footy in general among all leagues has dropped. Just more so in the cmfl. Maybe there is just not enough demand for more news on the grfl or cmfl. I would have thought the guardian wrap would be enough considering ten years ago it was a non event.. I think everyone is to worried about interleague. maybe the board should start worrying about the standard of the league rather than winning interleague.. Time for a change of board.. p.s. Swan HIll premiers 2006 your kidding yourself.......

Simon roberts.. a 6 foot 3 quick player, highly regarded in darwin, (Key position player in back to back flags) coach of a cmfl side (That performed very well for the players they had) would only be just a player in wakools team... you do realise that other people read these posts.....
Kelvin 69 for a keen a knowlegable supporter, you have seen Clinton Brooks play, How do you rate him..???
For a man that has had a few tussles with ash connick and come out on top on occasions I would rate him as a bloody good footballer.
And then we can start looking at the next level of players..

I agree to a certain extent.. but cmfl top sides would not come with in 10 goals of ovens and murray teams or A grade amo teams.
QUESTION FOR ALL BIG FOOTY FANS
Interms of grfl v's cmfl . It would be interesting to see what would happen if someone were to go to ultima (Relitively strong) or Wakool (TOp 3) even and put the following proposal to them....
"We want you to put up $5000, want you to put your best side on the field against woorinen's best side(Bottom 2).. winner take all" how many people (NOt emotionally attached but realistically) out there would think that the mentioned grfl sides would agree???
personally I beleive that woorinen would win by 5 to 8 goals...
I am not trying belittle the grfl, but trying to be realistic and create some chat..
although i agree about the standard dropping in these leagues, i disagree that the cmfls bottom sides would account for the grfl sides easily.. the ultima teams who won 3 in a row would have definately finished in the top 5 of cmfl... the top grfl sides are better than the bottom cmfl sides without doubt, 02
well luke bennett(roota6) put this up on your wall from floor to ceiling
LALBERT are gone and it would be wise for some of the ego maniacs that wear the eagle jumper to gain some words of wisdom from those in attendance at the premiership reunion in late july.
what players tell opposition coaches that key players are missing from the side, spins the ball in hands trying to be a jacko, takes the money every week and doesnt do team things and fakes hamstring injurys
glad you have to play with the guy.
hope you enjoyed the tongue lashing on monday night????

always value your opinion champ.. but you have remember woorinen were playing cmfl sides. And the individual player thing is very important as they make up the side.. I also disagree that the ultima teams would be top 5. agaisnt the cmfl teams at the time... Unfortunatly I do not have a record from the cmfl or grfl but can someone who knows both sides (Woora and Wakool) get a list together of the top 10 olayers in each side and compare them.. remembering that the level of fitness between the sides, and general standard of football is much higher in a cmfl club that a grfl.. And this is not taking a stab at wakool as i am a fan of them, just using them as a comparison..

roberts and pearce were good but robbo needs to learn to consistently kick straight, coulda bagged heaps
nyah missing kruegar and full of kids tried hard but got the rough end of the stick from some dubious decisions

cant say he would of won the game for nyah but at least would of helped keep tierney and kerr in check
i can say though he is a good player and no doubt would of kept nyah in the contest for a lot longer than what they were
and for matt curran to go to the umpires at half time, somethings up
one of them paid 2 deliberate out of bounds in the opening minutes, gave tierney a holding the man decision, when he had the ball pinned to his chest(unbelievable) and repeatedly pointed the wrong way for frees
even the players at times had no idea who had the free

Robbo's body isn't what it used to be, do you think that he could stay on the park for the duration of a season to kick his bag in a good side?? I personally don't think so, you wouldn't be paying to much coin for him at this stage in his career.

Hey glove can you name 1 minor league competing in the VCFL Country Championships? No thats right only major leagues compete. Just like CMFL, so get off your high horse.

Im confused? Is this the GRFL thread or the CMFL thread? Wakool aren't as crash hot as everyone thinks they are -- have some great finishers but pretty soft at the ball -- don't like playing Hay.
I would have Matt Graham almost at 1 in their list too...would be right up there in the league medal. Great ruckman and handy forward. Harvey hates the hard ball -- built like Sticks Benham -- but can finish. Not really suited to GRFL style of footy...would be a better player in CMFL with cleaner delivery...

Hey glove can you name 1 minor league competing in the VCFL Country Championships? No thats right only major leagues compete. Just like CMFL, so get off your high horse.
Well that all depends Kelvin on whether or not I use common sense or use the VCFL grading guidelines. In my opinion i don't believe the North Central/Mallee and Western Border are major leagues in terms of football standard. From 2001-2003 CMFL played in 3 consecutive Div 2 finals and had chance to go up to Div 1 but were beaten by major leagues Bendigo & Ballarat x2. Since then our performance at interleague level has dropped and so has standard of league dramatically. We would all like to see the standard of footy around here lift again and this would coinside with better performances at interleague level, but something has to happen with the way the league is run or we will never compete with the other leagues on & off the field.
By the way i'm not on a high horse, i cant get on them. I haven't any legs and i'm dead serious.

There seems to be a lot of ill feeling towards Labert in the CMFL.
After watching the game on saturday I cant say I blame them .After the king hit from behind on the Tooleybuc Manang player(it was from behind and a big one) the behaviour from the labert bench was terrible. They cheered and yelled abuse at an injured player as he was being escorted from the ground(who was clearly in trouble and could not defend himself ).How **** weak is that. The good supporters of the Labert footballclub do not deserve that sort of behavior and must be terribly embaressed by it . I was told the coach was a radio commentator last year for the local radio station .What a role model he is for the young kids in a small country community.Country football is struggling enough without unsportsman like behaviour like that Hows the investigation going.Maybe those officals should be getting investigated sa well.PS I have seen troy play a lot of very good football and a King hitter he is not. He is a tough and brave footballer who only Knows to well of the tragic circumstances on the football ground

Also if you are such a tough guy who can say Drew Arentz was hiding from no nuts plant then why not trying a bit of square up with coleman and back up a few of these comments (face them and do it) seems to me if you got king hit then you would have every right to square up. I am positive lalbert wouldn't miss you too much if you got suspended. Or as I am one hundred per cent sure would happen, got the living f u c k punched out of you
well said there jackson.... luke would never be seen near a fight because he is the biggest pussy going round.... he talks it up but he is the one always hiding under the coaches bench calling for mummy

Leigh Coleman. You must have had your eyes closed idiot, because i wasn't attacking the ball nor was Leigh. There was a ball up the ball spilled to one side of the pack opposite to where we were, lalbert player over the ball, me sheperding my team mate Leigh trying to get past, whack, broken jaw. Nothing more than a weak as **** action mate. If someone wants to belt a bloke. Face them and do it
Roota, is seems that there are a few creases in you story that need to be ironed out. was it coleman or hosking that hit you, as Kelvin said, if the league was trying to investigate hosking then he was the one that hit you. was he not. beta get your story straight mate before accusing genuine players of being dead **** king hitters!!

Well said.:thumbsu:
Let's be honest boys, they both get what they deserve on the footy field. There are always two sides to a story, so stop p i s s i n g in your own teammates pockets and talk about something decent.
Especially you ROOTA. You don't see Darcy on the computer, probably cause he doesn't know how to turn it on, but that's not the issue.

so i am footy you would be able to back me up in saying that wakool would not beat woora.. i have played at woora, seen them played this yr, and also played against wakool, and i just cant see them beating any side in the cmfl. the style of footy is too different. eg. quamby almost beat wakool, had them stuffed till 10 minutes to go. i cant see anyone being able to stop kerr, robertson, alderuccio and teirney, then woora have height, not as much as other cmfl sides., but plenty for grfl- brooks, roberts, beasy, kerr, pearce, prympke, russo. then you add in crow, mudge, siciliano, coburn, grant, bolton for small blokes, sorry woora would be too good.
some of the players you have mentioned there eg crow and mudge would only be averge-middle range players in the grfl as they are in the cmfl so lets not go over the top sorry pal wakool would beat woora

Cmon people i think where rating these two teams a litlle bit too highly like wakool play in the golden rivers and anyone in the cmfl could probably beat them and i also think that we are rating woorinen too high too because they have some good players but obviously don't use them well enough

True.. starting to talk a little sense cohuna.. but the point we are making is that woora would beet em.. with easily.. to strong.. to much depth..... to much... fitness...
and dockers i realise that. was saying that he would be in the top 2 or 3 if not 1.. depending on serious he took it...
AND FINALLY
take note and see if Jarrod (I look like a four and twenty pie) Arentz kicks kicks a bag this week and fails to get a b.o.g.

Geez leitchy gunny have improved this year any thoughts?yeah instead of kicking 6 goals a game and losing now they kick 8 and lose, but dont give up on them, they are going places, like back to echuca
Are the rumours true that the tough old bugger wanted to get back up after the incident. Actually screamed at Pa to pick him up?
I would believe them even if they weren't. Great player and good to hear he is ok. Sea Lake is now stuffed though.
Woora would win easy. You blokes in the minor league, I forget its name, are kidding yourself.
Not quite that tough.. couldnt feel his legs for a little bit so he knew he had done some dammage. so i told no one to touch him.. very lucky he had some good trainers there.. very well done by the trainers.... does any one think that the wakool president woudl put 10k on the line winner take all............
