Dont have to be a tyntynder boy to realise Nalder is the best coach, only need one ounce common sense, something that you do know possess.. your name sake in Kevin Barry in between his many beers and bets that he cannot afford would realise Nalder is the best

Your right umpires do get a pasting everywhere.......and deservedly so.......but within CMFL quality, experienced, unbiased umpires dont exisit.
There used to be 2 but 1 got the flick for no fault of his own and the other went out in sympathy. Whats left doesnt have the 3 main qualities I mentioned above, more like experience, no quality and very biased.

The standard of umpiring is an absolute discrace! I won't name names but SR is an absolute cheat. You would have to have worse eyesight than a blind man not to see that he absolutely favours some teams over others. He should be shot for some of the crimes he has committed on a football field. Don't really know much about the board but i don't think the points system could work. Some clubs just have to continually recruit players from other leagues just to field a quality team and it is unfair for them. If they want to recruit from other leagues or other clubs and have the resources to do so, then good on them and they shouldn't be punished.

it cost some clubs in the cmfl 200,000 and maybe in one case 250,000 plus, just to put a competitive side on the groud. Where does this money come from??? Out or peoples pockets, through hard fundraising efforts, people donating their time and effort for the club.. Now if you are one of the many people that work hard for your club and pay out incredible amounts of money for a taste of success...... Why should you have to be continually insulted by the level of umpiring come saturday.. 250,000 thousand is a lot of money, it take time and hard work... what is the point when saturday becomes a joke??
The Board... Rumour has it the league is very financial.. somewhere around 90,000 in bank.. WHat did they want to do with it...... apparently they wanted to deck out a head office near the town hall.... The majority of the board have never played footy. I was involved with a colts side last year. Very few sides had a full team.... What do the league do about this..
Nothing... They are more worried about the appearence of the league, rather than the quality or future...
sorry it was so long

Fair call tubba..
not sure about point system.. think it is suppose to encourage clubs to keep thier locals.. This is doesnt work.. Swan hill is a good place.. If you have no academic asperations..Swan Hill and Tyntynder have the pick of the juniors. constantly playing off in grand finals from the unders to the colts. Agreeably they run things pretty well.. Alan Medlen who is in my view a bloody good bloke. tried to tell me that this system will work and that it encourages locals to stay... he was on the board... his 2 sons.. can play... are both away due to education and the army.. but yet he he and others remain certain it will work. neither of his sons will return..

In my experience i would have to say he is up there with the worst of them, you're right mate. I have always been fair and reasonable with the men in white but it is becoming increasingly harder these days with the standard on display at the moment. I have also had a bit of an opportunity to get around to many different games in different leagues over the past few years due to my enforced time on the outer and believe me you the CMFL is right up there for the worst umps getting around.

That's pathetic FOOTY02, his sons are away for a good reason you idiot!.
Work and study is why. Do you think they are going to change their whole lifestyles becuase of the new pionts system and move back to Swan Hill. It encourages clubs not to poach within the leauge. It does'nt encourage people to make life changing decisions on where they further their careers and decide to live. That's a pus example you tried to come up with.

On the money there dog. it also encourages teams to also put time and effort into their juniors as now they need to develop players and not just recruit. Also Tubba, yes I'm told Sam Rovere hates Swan Hill with a passion and lets this effect his decision making which is disgraceful.

Any junior with any talent will move on to pioneers, diggers, VFL, and any juniors that (AS i STATED) seek an education, will move on. Look at any club you like. Tyntynder and Swan hIll loose many of players too, but they start with so many they still can retain a core group. And who is responsible for doing this... The league... Bucko is the only umpire who knows what is going on.. Spend a little more money on umpires and recruiting programs. I agree Tubba, was there for everyone to see on Monday night, should not be able to umpire. I also agree that its a difficult job and i understand that people make mistakes, you can live with that, but when i was playing nothing would frustrate me more than a biased umpire. I agree, the standard of umpiring is below par, especially in the CMFL.
But has anyone actually stopped to think why the standard of umpiring is so low? It's because of the constant criticism these guys cop on the ground and in forums like this... It's enough to scare anyone away from doing this job. The ironic thing is, members of this forum are complaining about the very thing they've directly contributed to.
Look, I eat and breathe Football, I am in love with the game (and no I am not an umpire). The simple fact is, it does not function without umpires. The sooner we learn to give the guys in the middle a break, the sooner blokes will want to be an umpire. The more umpires we have, the more we have to choose from, the better the standard. It is so simple.
In a nutshell, you want to see a better standard of umpiring? Keep your mouth shut.

Very good point Charlie. Sadly this will never happen, like good footballers, good umpires are hard to come by. I think the answer is money???? yet again.... Footballers are paid on how good they are.. Maybe it is time to bring in a similar system with the umpires. What is the going rate for senior central umpire?? I say what ever the amount.. double it for good senior umpires and try and buy a few ex footballers. I know a fair few presidents with in the league and i know that many of them would be glad to skim a few $$ off player payements ifit would help fix the problem. CLubs are spending great amounts of cash on players. Why not spend a little more on the bunny in white..

Tyntynder gentlemen. Looking absolutely brilliant. I know its only the night series but they look far too fit and fast for any other side running around, throw in Corrie and Carroll to Tuesday nights side and things look pretty bleak for the other sides. Don't think Swan Hill will be any good. Look too top heavy, the recruits are all big fellas. Murray didn't impress me much either. I think he is good honest battler in the backline(every side needs them) but he lacks class and doesn't speak with any real purpose. Alot has been said about Foott but he was disappointing on the night. I think Boga will be competitive enough, throw Ricki Pumpa and Nathan Quick back into that side and they will be hard to shake. I think Lalbert will be the interesting ones this year!

Yeah i think the doggies will be the team to beat. I have it from a reliable source that an ex-premiership player will be returning in '06 and that a young gun who was thought to be leaving is in fact staying. Very handy inclusions to what already looks like a young fit and strong outfit. As for Shaun Murray, I know he has all the Swans behind him and his onfield leadership is second to none.

Lake Boga will have a tough year but their main guns in Quick, Parsons, Smith, Brawn & Pumpa should be able to carry them enough to beat the weaker teams and remain competetive against the powerhouses. Although i believe they will need to retain the services of the classy Joel Heil if they are a chane of any september action.

Guys, Tyntynder seemed to firing. Do they have a better list this year? I know they lost a few and have picked up a couple. Has the improvement come from the recruits, kids or the middle tier players? Or are they just up and running early?

They have lost a few quality players in Conheady, Lewis and Scott but with the few handy recruits and the continual development and improvement of the young brigade they could prove a better side in 2006. They are lacking in the height department but their midfield should run supreme. I don't think its just a case of up and running early, Nalder just has them in tip-top shape and they will only improve throughout the year.
Can anyone tell me how darcy ryan is goin at manang. watched a couple in 2004 was most impressive, very hard at it.

Yet you are also saying that people move on due to education.. Is this Correct??
If you answered yes to both of these frogy boy... then you are killing your own argument you. Tell me froggy old boy, Who in the hell under the age of 25 is going to seek education in balranald.. and tell me, what job offers other than a bit of farm work, if your lucky, do the locals of tooley/mananag and lalbert have to offer.. Maybe a few trade positions if yuor lucky.. and tell me froggy, how can woorinen, boga, lalbert, swan hill and tyntynder compete against clubs from the goldern rivers who dont have a point system and pay stupid money, in terms of trying to retain some of their younger boarder line players. the only clubs that will benefit are swan hill and tyntynder. Although i agree Nalder is great player i think his dedicaton and commitment has a coach or more so a leader can definately be questioned. His constant unwillingless to push through niggling injuries can let the team down at times. I dont question his desire to play footy and coach but perhaps the desire to play for the doggies has left the Moulamein star.
Im very sad to see blokes bagging umps this early in the season you forget its only the preseason. As for tubba for someone who lives in bendigo & just comes home to watch footy you sound very peed off about the umpiring on Monday night, it sounds almost as if you played against boga. Second if you’ve got the guts to single out an umpire & plaster his name on the net & say how you think he cant do his job, then you should have the guts to give your name & stop hiding behind your friends nickname.

Agree hansal, saw most of that game and didn't notice too much wrong with the blokes in white. Don't bag the crap out of them until you've got the nuts to have a crack yourself. Unenviable job, but posting a blokes name on here and pasting him like that is very ordinary.

Thank you for sticking up for me Kelvin. I think there may have been a formal report from the game regarding a Swan Hill player calling him a cheat. Look i am not an umpire basher, i respect them for the job they do as it is very hard to please everyone, however when an umpire has it in for certain teams and this becomes quite obvious then something has to be done. And if i'm correct, this behaviour has gone on for years, especially when it is Boga Vs Anyone else. Its just what i think anyway. It may look different from another set of eyes and i understand this. I hope i haven't offended anyone.:thumbsu:

Sorry Champ, I thought that may have caused a bit of confusion but had no time to edit it.. The comment about the middle age ex footballers that would probably enjoy 400 odd for umpiring was not suppose to be linked with the goldern rivers point , It was suppose to be middle aged blokes in general.. Sorry it was not worded well.. And every club spends ridiculouse amounts of money.. It just that the central murray spend ******** loads on some pretty handy players(depending on each club and how they recruit).. Due to the the lower standed, the players getting payed in the goldern rivers would not get anywhere near the money in the central murray... Thats all.. Sorry for misleading you on the other points..
Apparantly Woorinen have recuited an overgrown Chicken to play CHB. Under the points system it is worth 5 points, but his beak is worth another 5 because of its size, therefore he is a 10 point player. The footy club apparantly are selling advertising space on his beak to offset his match payments. Any interested businesses please phone 1800-BIGSNOZ.:D :D
