You haven't read a word i typed. I didn't say the salary cap stopped recruiting, what i said was the points system will have about the same impact as the salary cap.
The teams who are strong now with the points system will be strong next year and the year after and possibly even the year after that provided they can afford it.
As i stated earlier any player at the same club next year who is above a 1 point will come down a point each year at the club. So next year Balranald, T/M and Tyntynder could have a possible 10-12 points spare which is another 4 guns from any major league if they can afford them.
How does that promote junior development and playing locals? If people have spare points and $$$ they weill use them mark my words.

Agreed Clifton. How many Balranald senior players that they have now came up through their juniors? Maybe mzc07 would care to elaborate.

i know its very early in the season to do this but have the umpires ever got it right? last week we were told you can bring the ball immedialty back into play after a behind is kicked provided goal umpire has been given the all clear from the central. this week there were different interpretations about the rule in all 3 grades, surely its not different for each umpire and grade?

Kerang showed glimpses of their potential vs Balranald. Apparently Shawn not too happy with the Balranald performance (Nor some of the Kerang congregation). The game was very even for the first 3 qtrs. But the Roos found a little in the tank and blew the margin out to 7 or 8. On that, I would have to say that Balranald are slightly off the pace set by Tooleytang. Only early though. If Swan Hill can beat Tyntynder then that has got to give Kerang some confidence heading into Saturdays clash.

Can somebody tell me how the hell Bryden Morison isn't on the Pio's list? 3 goals and 15 to 20 touches against Balranald isn't to be sneezed at?

it's all about size nowadays, generally if ya not 6foot (or at least built) then they won't bother. obviously Morison's skills are superb and will develop into a brilliant footballer, bit unfortunate that he wasn't given the opportunity to play against kids of his standard in the pioneers. Has proven himself in the Kerang side and one to watch out for for the opposition

having a look at the draw for kerang, they have played 3 of the the top 5 teams for the season i would think. although they have played ordinary footy, i think you have to give them a chance against other teams. have a look at the players they have lost, i'm sure it will take a while to get used to a new team set up, which it basically is a new team, and i'm sure the recruits will settle in. from what i have seen some of the recruits are doing ok and others are showing glimpses and i'm sure they will be good when the season moves forward.

2 May 2007, 14:02
They have Thamm to come back but he needs a coulpe of good forwards around him. He's an easy target if hes the only forward. Outside of that there's not much. They need to get a couple of talls who can hang on to the ball. At the moment they are chipping around cause theyve got no where to go and inevitably turn it over cause the skill level is not there. Kerang have played 3 top sides but i dont think Balranald really fired a shot and they will improve. The other two made Kerang look ordinary. Kerangs test will be against sides like Cohuna , Leitchville etc. If they get smashed in those type games they are in big trouble. Losing becomes habit forming. I still think Balranald will be the big improvers as the year goes on. Filo has a knack of geting sides to improve and i think theyve turned over their share of players. Swan Hill ,Woorineen, etc Will be major challenges for Kerang. At the moment i cant see them improving enough. If they lose to some of the lesser sides then the excuse of having played three of thetop 5 will be gone and thats when things may fall apart.

Good question, as we have only kicked 15 goals in 3 games. Troy Coates has been floating down there every so often, but once he does it doesn't get down there for obvious reasons. Kerang are looking at Joel Osbrough to step up in this capacity. The delivery into the forward line has been sheisenhausen as well which makes it easy for the backmen to mop up. Perhaps we need Julian Pollard to make his long awaited comeback and stream down the wing at Riverside.

Who is this pole smoker known only to BigFooty followers as 'the prince'. He knows way to much about FBI, Balranald and other people talked about on this thread to have played with Balraj at Mooroopna last year. I have done my homework and asked a few guys that played at Mooroopna last year who 'the prince' could be. So they hopped on BigFooty to have a read and they tell me the only person who would be dumb enough to write the stuff he writes and the level of intellect would be none other than the FBI himself. So fcuk off and let us people read and talk about people who are here to make the club and league they play for better, not rip the club off to the tune of 50k and not even represent the league in interleague.

Withers is an absolute gun one of best in West Gippsland Latrobe area played with Traralgon side when in VFL. May even have won medal in WGLFL will be sorely missed by Garfield started year there, would not be coming cheap

exactly roota. filo will not put up with people being i am's in his side. know for a fact at a pre season training session he sent some of balranald's most elite home grown players home because they were talking whilst he was explaining something to the player group. but i'm sure the balranald heirachy would have something to say if a player like sing on his money was sent home while talking while the coach was.

$5000 sign on & $2000+ a game. You are right that is not cheap!

The last I heard, the only wings Pollard was interested in were purchased from KFC.

Who is Balranalds Treasurer?
Will the league help if the club goes belly up?

The space next to the Ambulance at Gorilla Park is now to become reserved for the Armorguard van with the match payments.

Not much chance of Balranald going belly up anytime soon. Was talking to a Balranald heavy on the weekend, he was saying that they are in the position to go hard like this year (money wise) for another 10 years. Very scary for other clubs trying to win a flag.

withers will be on $1500 a game. wanted to stay at garfield, but that kind of money is too much to refuse. asked garfield to match it but they couldnt. also. we've had jamie cann move to one of our local clubs. is he a mercenary, or someone who genuinely wants to do the right thing by country football?

cheers,

oh ps. garfield is only 15km away from here, lincoln was pretty much public about figures when he left!

of course the league will help them because they are an extremely gutless bunch of people. when Balranald owed the league over 10k for league affiliation fees they turned a blind eye to it for a long time because the league needed someone other than tyntynder & swan hill being successfull. not to long ago they still owed league 3k, i'm not sure if this has been settled or not yet but the league have threatened taking premiership points off them but that will never happen either.

It is quite amusing to read ppls opinions and bagging of B.Singh. (F.B.I.)
He played down here some years back, at Lower. Not an easy opponent to play against. Of course his reutaion pre-ceeded him here, as i believe it has up there, and no-one had any time for him on or off the field. A true football mercenary, who attempts to gain a living thru 'local' football.
Last player we had like that here was Terry Keys. Big lumps of no good blokes. But did well once they crossed the white line.

You're doing a great job at making an absoulute c*#k of yourself "Prince". If you are going to be someone else at least be consistant, not all over the place as 1st person to 3rd party. Also to stop people having a crack at you try getting a hard ball and making a second effort, you can ask Filo what that is as you wouldn't know and he has made a career of it. As for the low life comment, not to many people put there hand out for a 1k+ a game in local country footy and then pi## off at the end of the season never to be seen again. cheers

As for other players not worth mentioning the league squad has been announced, so now we can talk about someone else and take the heat off you.

An unlikely loss here would certainly effect the mindset of our brave warriors for the remainder of the season. Are you heading up Saturday??

Dont know much of Cann personally. But came to Balranald via the VFL and since he left haven't heard of to many who rated him as a valuable clubman.. Possibly in the same class as FBI, can play but only in it for the money?? Maybe others can tell you more?
