You are an absolute idiot Auskick. Anyone who has watched or played CMFL footy over the last 10 years will tell that Lance is one of the best the league has seen in that time. 2 league b & f's says to me that the man is an out and out gun. The best player that i have played with

Just because someone doesn't agree with you does not entitle you to call them an idiot! It's called difference of opinion.

As far as i can tell, Cohuna dont have any guns. Using Tooleytang as an example, they have Ash Thompson, Ryan O'Sullivan, Lance Brown and Jarrod Arentz as their guns and this is the team that won last years flag (and thats in no way disrespecting the other players in the Tooleytang team.) Don't think Cohuna have anybody, Jon Bell included, that fall into the class of the above four players.

A "gun" player is someone who can win a game from their own boot every week, not just show flashes of good football every now and then. Considering you could count the number of games Cohuna have won this season on one hand, you could hardly say they have any guns.

If your saying jon bell is not a gun you are obviously jealous of him or a d**k Head because he goes out there everyweek icluding the last few even though injured and given his all crashing into packs and providing gr8 run he has also been training with the u15s which has given them a huge lift and to say he couldnt win a game off his own boot is a load of crap :thumbsd:

If you a going to sit there and say that Jon Bell is in the same class as Ash Thompson or Ryan O'Sullivan, then the only d**khead on here is you. Crashing into packs and providing great run dont make you a gun. If thats how you classify gun players, then half the CMFL must be gun players. Give me a break. Training with the U15's, while great for the club and the kids, doesnt mean he is any better footballer than somebody who doesnt train with the juniors, it only makes him a better clubman.

Have a look at every team at this time of the year and i bet you will find at least half a dozen players playing injured, so why is he any more special than anyone else. As soon as you step out on the field, you are deamed 100% fit.

I already stated, in my opinion, a gun is someone who wins games of their own boot, consistently. Cohuna have won four of 17 games. Cant possibly have won too many games off his own boot.

Well then no 1 can be a gun then because it is impossible to win a game off your own boot while you may have a huge influence to the result doesnt mean you won the game off your own boot football is a team game with 18 players on the field so if your clasifying winning a game off your own boot makes you a gun there is no 1 capable of doing that because 1 person cannot be everywhere at once. You cannot say bell is not a gun just because cohuna have only won 4 games because it is a TEAM game and he has influenced the team in more ways than 1 and has probly saved them getting belted by 15+ goals more than once

Any chance of the kangas getting ross hipwell back to the club, very aggressive skilfull flanker.
When was the last time the kangas played finals footy? When they first entered the league they were strong in all 3 grades of footy and they did recruit high profile players yet still couldnt get the elusive flag perhaps they have to throw everything at the bow & arch to coach them

Ross Hipwell has spent a majority of this year on the injury list so im not sure how his body will hold up next year

Moulamein recieved similar thrashings for years on end in the GRFL, now they are flag favourites this year....hopefully for Lalbert there time will come soon and they can be competitive again, they will need a lot of help though. Comments like this aren't that help they need.

What about what they have done of the field??? The facility they have there now is one of the best going around, the ground is now in magnificent condition so how bout some credit.

On a slightly different tact lets have a look at some clubs throughout the region who have been in similar positions. Moulamein for example were the whipping boys in the Golden Rivers for years yet with some smart recruiting and community support they have been able to get the club back into a good position.

Should every club that battles for a while just chuck in the towell and fold or should they fight, work hard and get back up the ladder???

Obvioulsy you are not a Lalbert supporter - no offence but if anyone was embarrassed by Lalbert they would not be supporting them! And as a league why would you discriminate a club for having a couple of bad years on the field - every club in the CMFL has been there at one stage or another!

If you knew anything about the Lalbert Football Club you would know how much they have turned the club around financially to be serious contenders with the CMFL for years to follow. Lalbert would have to be one of the biggest supporter based clubs in this league - can't say much for those clubs that are supposedly great on the ground but have a shit following! The only thing for the CMFL to be embarrassed about is maybe having an "embarrassement" like you having anything to do with them!

I totally agree with everything that has been said although I feel that it will be hard for Lalbert to get back on track with one of the reasons being the severity of the drought. In this day and age, everyone plays footy to be apart of a premiership team, something that Lalbert will struggle with for atleast another 5 years. The likes of Moulamein had 3-4 years where they rebuilt and finally hit their straps this season. Finishing on the bottom, and by so much will make it difficult to attract outside footballers to the community??? Not having a go at the club at all, i admire the boys who don the jumper week in week out, but if this rebuilding stage is to happen then maybe it should have started at the beginning of this season? It just seems that it maybe a lil late, and maybe a switch to the GRFL will entice people to play for Lalbert as its a minor league and may become ultra competitive.

I think that most clubs these days have good facilities.. i dont think it has anything to do with the change room/bar/food facilities, as all the grounds around the league have a good standard of facilities. im not sure how many people the grand stand seats but i think it primarily comes down to the swan hill ovals ability to seat such a large number of people, and allow the best viewing conditions of any ground in the league...

Thanks danielkerr for your response but looking at the scores from the last few rounds and it looks like the Raiders would have a reasonable chance against the top teams as they got within 10 points of both Swan Hill and Kerang. Can't agree with you on the grand final venue being at Swan Hill every year though, all clubs now have excellent facilities and it seems ridiculous that all other finals are played at neutral venues. Totally unfair to have to come up against the Swans in the big one on their home ground, a laughable situation. Any info on the league B and F?

while we are on the topic of "swanhill" they were very disapointing on saturday up in toolybuc! was hopeing for a much closer encounter than the one that was produced! only a few bloke could hold there heads high for the swans, Callen Beasy and Luke Keil were probably the two best k thought! but dont take anything away from toolybuc, very hard fought win! just goes to show what can happen when u never give up! when ppl were writing them of during the year becuase of there injuries etc.. now they are playing in a qualifying final and a real chance to play in back 2 back premierships!

Yes Fantom I do agree. I ventured up to Tooleybuc to watch a few of my mates play and from what I have been told Swan Hill were very confident they would easily dismantle the Saints. They obviously forgot the Saints won the Premiership last year and know what it takes to win finals. Arrogance has never won a final.. Hard bodys and blokes putting their head over the footy for 4 quarters will win you the game everytime. Their supporters have alot to say to the opposition when all is going well but soon as the pressure mounts they seem to go missing... Much like their players. My tip is the Swans to go out in straight sets........

heard a rumour last weekend ice whelan made himself available was told wont be considered for 1st due to being uot for a while. then was overlooked by 2nds co-coachs who didnt want to change a winning team coming into the finals. so not in the best 45 players at the club. looks like at least one crow will be flying from the nest next year.

ice would be about ready too retire wouldnt he?

im certain swan hill were not confident they would easily dismantle the saints on saturday, what a ridiculous statement. swan hill were soundly beaten in the wet, even when the scores were close it seemed as though tooleybuc had the ascendancy. tooleybucs midfield had the luxury of ryan osullivan winning every ruck contest he was in and clearly out classed swan hills. i wouldnt write off swan hill just yet though, with grant ford, steve stroobants and jason kruger coming in next week.

That would be a big signing for cohuna and would draw huge crowds for the league also.I doubt kieran treacy would coach cohuna he's leitchy gunny all the way.

your right keiran treacy WAS leitchy gunny through and through, ... but i'm afraid to say the bit of paper has been signed..
All the best to him and i'm sure he will be a vital part of the cohuna kangas..

Just curious about some of the matchups for Sunday's game, whoever matches up on Keegan Dingo will have a big role. Who is likely to play on him?- young lach foott lacks meat but certainly has a big heart- is he capable?

Should be a great match! Not sure about your idea of the match up though Bomber? He may have the ticker but no where near the same talent as Dingo... Just a good old fashioned battler!!

Bomber1, that is a very good point, a definant match winner there for the roos, as he gives a lot of drive from half back and can float forward as well. Foott will need to be primed to shut down Dingo, as he has been a little quiet in recent weeks, and needs a solid performnce to hold is place in the starting 22.

fair point u have there avon, obviously a balranald man, and yes there was many contencious decisions...
ones that caught my eyes was not only the ones that were awarded to swanhiil but the ones that were not paid to the roos! 4 times in a row gavin loydy was in a marking contest and was crashed into his back and all times the umpire was on the spot, they were all clear free kicks! some times it just makes u wonder

lets not get blame the umpires now boys, there where many deicison that where borderline, and balranald had there fair share of ones they got away with and the same goes for swan hill.. but the fact of the matter was that when the game was in the balance balranald cracked under pressure.... you can blame the umpires and say this and that but what about the efforts of the swannies, to come back and win like they did is a credit to the lads... who will curb the likes of kruger, holt, foott, and davis this week....

oh dont get me wrong tw swans were outstanding.. just saying the umpiring was not the bet for a cut throat final! you could also throw McMahon in theat group because him and davis were the catillists in getting the ball out of the middle in the second half!

Saddened to hear of the recent passing of Central Murray/Murray League legend - Barry Kelly - a great Lalbert personality an ex North Melbourne player.

A universally liked fella as evidenced by the large crowd at his funeral on Saturday.

Ice needs op on knee had tried to get up for finals by training the last 2 weeks but was still restricted he also had not played for 6 to 8 weeks cant blame him for trying but until he has the op he wont be the same player he was. Great fellow and super player when fit but suppose the match committie must have wanted to take 22 fit players in

Kerang used the ball very well on saturday..Kiel Robertson and Bryden Morrison carried the it and made the Tooleybuc/Manang midfielders look a litte slow. Tooleybuc/Manang never really threatened to take the game off them. Kiel robertson did do his shoulder early in the second half, will be interesting to see if he plays in the gf....big loss if he doesnt come up.

I have heard he will require a pin? any truth in this? Gillingham to come in to take his place you would imagine from the pio's.
